Being a SAHM

I haven’t always been a SAHM. This is a new job for me actually. I come from a Purchasing/Sourcing/Procurement background, that means I bought stuff (computers, office supplies, maintenance contracts, etc….) for the companies I worked for. Sometimes it was fun sometimes it was quite boring. I’ve wanted to be a SAHM for a long time, working outside of the home just never made me feel complete. I did have jobs I loved and co-workers that I considered my friends but being home with my kids just seemed to call to me.

When we moved to Maryland almost 2 years ago I was pregnant with Shae and obviously no one was going to hire me. Commuting back and forth to Delaware wasn’t an option either so I just quit my cushy job and Rob and I decided that we would make it work. Shae was born in August 2007 and in January 2008 I started in-home daycare. It’s been hard work but the good thing is I’ve had the same 3 kids since the beginning and I love them to death. I get to be home with Shae all day and not worry about school days off or kids sick days or summer vacation for Shaun and Sabreena.
