Travel Is Stressful

Tomorrow we leave to take the kids to my parents in New Jersey because my mother is so kind to watch our kids for four days while Melinda and I attend IZEAFest in Orlando, Florida.

We leave on Thursday morning for Philadelphia for a 10:15am flight. I am super excited to be going to Florida with Melinda for four days with no kids. Don’t get me wrong I am going to miss the kids but alone time with Melinda is going to be awesome.

The one problem I am having is stress. I am super stressed about packing everything we are going to need for this four day conference like our laptops, camera, cloths, toiletries, etc all without going over 50lbs. Fifty pounds is the magical number you need to stay under or else the airline rips you a new one with overweight fees. Isn’t is bad enough you now need to pay $20 for the first checked bag then it goes to $30 for the second bag without having to worry about overweight fees. Guess not, so today I ran to Wal-Mart and picked up a cheap $30 carry-on suitcase hoping we can keep our checked bags to one. I think we can do it but it is alot to worry about because I hate when we get somewhere then remember all of the things we forgot to pack. It stinks!!

Melinda will probably be doing most of the packing because she typically does but for some reason I still get stressed out about it. Wish us luck and hopefully everything we need makes it to Florida with us.

It will all work out. Use your scale in the bathroom to check once you'd gotten everything packed. That new back and a backpack each should help do yah for the 4 days.

I think if you each have a max-sized carry on, you should have no trouble with keeping the 50 lb limit on your checked bags. Good luck and enjoy!

I know what you mean about stressing about packing. For the flights I have taken I just cram it all in and make it work in a carry on. Actually, you guys could make it work! I have a tight roll technique. I should blog about it! LOL! Basically, just roll your clothes as tight as you can in a burrito shape and then use a rubber band to hold them that way (or not if you have room). You can still carry on your laptop bag as well as the carry on suitcase. YOU CAN DO IT!! :)

Ro neglected to tell you all the checked suitcase is HUGE but I'm an overpacker, I can't help it. I hate to be without something I might need like that extra pair of shoes or sweater or comfy sweats. It's all my fault LOL
