Genie SilentMax 1000 Garage Door Opener Review and Giveaway

About two weeks ago our garage door opener finally called it quits which was a blessing in disguise. Our handheld garage door openers haven’t worked in over a year so I wasn’t to upset when the opener stopped working as well. Luckily about a week or so before the garage door opener quit I was offered the opportunity to review the Genie SilentMax 1000.

We have been using the SilentMAx 100 for about two weeks and one of my favorite things is how quiet it is. Our old garage door opener was so loud that you could hear it in the living room when the garage door would open but no more. I also like the wireless keypad that I installed outside the garage door so I don’t need to go inside the house or have my remote to open the door.

Another cool feature of the Genie SilentMax 1000 is the network adapter that allows the remote that is in Melinda’s car to beep and blink green once closed or red if not closed. This is a cool feature because as we are pulling away from the house we have the comfort knowing that the garage door closed properly.

The Genie SilentMax 1000 comes with a ¾ HPc 140 Volt DC motor, two 100 Watt bulb lighting system and push button programming which makes set up fast and easy.     We have a Craftsman garage door opener. I have no idea how old it is as it came with the house when we moved in, but the remotes are bigger than a deck of cards and they take 9v batteries. I always worry that it doesn’t have current or working safety features…

    Its old.. lets leave it at that =)

    My mom has a basic garage door opener that was installed when the garage was built for her several years ago and she’s already dealt with it not opening in winter, going off track, etc. I think the contractor found the cheapest he could without quality so it’d be nice to get her something reliable (the being able to know it closed it awesome as she lives out in the country and is usually in a hurry out the door with my brothers!)

    Our garage door opener is a Chamberlain. I do not know how old it is. It was here when we bought the house 6 years ago. It is held together with blue tape. We had to have a handyman come out and fix the opener because it would not open the door, he said if it breaks again; we will need a new opener.

    I currently have a Genie. It’s old not sure if it is as old as the house built in 1984 but it is an old chain driven. Still works great which is a testiment to the Genie brand name. I would like an upgrade to one with keyless entry.
