Justice Was Not and Never Will Be Served

Yesterday I was working and delivering packages like I do every day with no access to TV and very little access to the internet so I typically have little knowledge of what is going on in the world. Around 1:40 pm Melinda texted me about a school shooting that had taken place in CT and how she wasn’t able to stop crying because the shooting happened at an elementary school. I immediately start thinking about Shae because she is in kindergarten and then I started thinking about the families and how in an instant their lives had been changed forever.

Once I got home I watched the news and started to read news reports about what happened and how it all happened. Twenty young kids that were so full of life gunned down for no reason what so ever. They were in school doing what all kindergarten kids do coloring, singing, playing and laughing with classmates just being kids and probably looking forward to the weekend.

My heart goes out to the parents of these 20 kids as well as the 6 adults. If this happened in Shae’s school and something were to happen to her my life would be turned completely upside down and I am not sure how I would be able to recover. You try to put yourself in these parents shoes but there is no way anyone is able to feel the amount of loss and heartbreak that these families are feeling right now and most likely will for the rest of their lives. Their son or daughter has been taken away from them by a deranged lunatic for no reason at all and around the holiday to boot. Not saying there is ever a good time for this kind of tragedy because that is just stupid to say but now every year around Christmas for the rest of their lives they are going to relive this horrible day. These kids did nothing personal to this guy that would have warranted him going to the school and firing off round after round like he was in the wild west.

What pisses me off most about this in the parents will never know why he did what he did and justice will never be served because he decided to take his own life. To me that is the cowards way out. This guy was man enough to go into an elementary school and kill innocent kids but not man enough to deal with the consequences of his actions. I know some people will say he was sick and had mental issues but to me that is no excuse for what he did yesterday at that school. I know some people will also say that is good that he took his own life because now he is unable to ever do this again to anyone but I say it sucks because the parents of the 20 kids and 6 adults will never get any answers. They will always be thinking why he did this to their kid.

I also feel for all of the kids that saw this horrible tragedy unfold and may have seen a friend or class mate killed. No 5-6 year old should ever have to witness another person being killed and this is something that they as well as their families are going to have to deal with for the rest of their lives. It is crazy how one man turned an entire community into total disarray and ruined so many lives so fast.

To me I feel justice wasn’t and will never be served and the families have to live with that forever. I am not saying justice would have made this all go away but I think it would sort of helped the parents in some small way deal with this unthinkable tragedy but now they will always wonder why.

My heart and prayers go out to all the people that were affected by this horrible tragedy yesterday.
