Tips For Planning Rest Stops

Planning for a long car journey can be stressful, especially if you’re traveling with kids. However, if you’re not careful, your trip could turn out to be more like a nightmare than a dream if you don’t factor in the next rest area.

Here are some simple things you can do to ensure your family stays safe and happy—and get where you’re going in one piece!

1) Get gas before you run out—you don’t want to end up in the middle of nowhere, stranded with a car that won’t start

2) Make sure to take regular breaks—at least every two hours. If you’re driving for longer than that, consider taking a break every 3-4 hours or so.

3) It’s a good idea to stop at rest areas or roadside parks so everyone can stretch their legs and get some fresh air.

4) Always plan ahead for bathroom breaks! Even if you don’t need one right now, it’s good practice to keep an eye out for signs of trouble (like squirming kids).

5) Make sure there are plenty of snacks in the car—not just for yourself but also for other drivers who may need them along the way.

6) Pack some extra water bottles in case someone runs out or forgets theirs before getting back from the bathroom break (which should be at least every two hours).

7) Check out our website for rest stops along your route.

8) Bring along something fun for yourself that might help keep your mind off the traffic jam ahead or give yourself something else to focus on for a bit—like listening to music, a book, or a magazine.

9) Make sure there’s enough room in your car for everyone who wants to stretch their legs at each stop. If not, consider taking turns doing so or bringing along an extra pair of shoes (or two!).

10) If possible, try to schedule rest at hotels or motels along the way—this will make stopping easier, as well as provide some nice amenities like showers and wifi!
