Sunday Linky Edition #89
Philly Soul is Back in Town #Giveaway
There’s more to Philly sports than the Eagles and the Fightin’ Phils. Last week we experienced a whole new side of the sports world at the Philly Soul. Philly Soul is Arena Football. Arena Football is fast-paced, high scoring, modified version of American or Canadian football. The field is smaller and the rules are unique to the field but the intensity is higher and the fans are just as hyped.
On Sunday, April 13, 2003, the face of Philadelphia sports changed by an event taking place across the country – Jon Bon Jovi and Craig A. Spencer’s first taste of Arena Football. Bon Jovi and Spencer attended a Los Angeles Avengers game at the Staples Center, taking their first steps on a path that would bring another professional football franchise to the City of Brotherly Love.
Our first experience with the Philly Soul was an enjoyable one. Shaun was chanting and yelling and freaking out like a real live sports fan, just shorter. The atmosphere was different than that talked about of Eagles games. The arena was filled with kids and families and people who wanted to be there to support their home town.
Last year the AFL (Arena Football League) took off to restructure the organization’s finances.

Imagination Movers in Philadelphia
One of Shae’s (and mine and Sabreena’s) favorite kid shows is Imagination Movers. Reach high, think big, work hard, have fun!
In 2003, four New Orleans friends – Rich Collins, Scott Durbin, Dave Poche and Scott “Smitty” Smith – started gathering after their kids’ bedtimes to write songs and brainstorm ideas about a children’s television show. Two years later, they had become the latest sensation of their musical city, attracting parents and children alike with an eclectic pop sensibility and lyrical turns about healthy snacks and playing catch and conquering childhood fears of bedtime. Lines to the Movers’ shows stretched down blocks.
The songs are so catchy and rhythmic that as a family we find ourselves breaking out in song at random times during the day. When Shae mentions she doesn’t want to go to school, I immediately start singing “First Day of School”. When we talk about what’s for dinner Rob often yells out “When I Say Mac, You Say Cheese”. She’s bedtime routine includes listening to Calling All Movers and Eight Feet, her 2 favorite Mover’s albums.
I’ve been wanting to go to an Imagination Movers show for over 2 years now and when I saw they were going to be in the area I got so excited. I knew this was something we would all love. Shae, Sabreena and I are headed into Philadelphia this weekend to catch one of only 2 shows they are perfoming at the Tower Theater. I’m expecting high energy, lots of movement and even more singing along.
I have another set of tickets to giveaway too! A LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! reader is going to receive a 4-pack of tickets to the Tower Theater 4:30pm show on April 10th. Leave a comment and tell me your fave Mover or song.

Dressing Up | Giveaway WSRW Blog Party
Whether it’s a LBD or a sophisticated wrap-around Shabby Apple has you covered with its eclectic collection of women’s dresses. Shabby Apple returns to what dresses were always meant to be — a one-piece outfit. No need to add anything…no tank tops, no cardigans, nothing (except accessories, of course!).
I’ve been scoping out Shabby Apple for over a year now. I’ve feel in love over and over with so many dresses but always chicken out at the last minute over which one to get. I love dresses but my body is weird, I’m a bigger girl with large boobs, long torso but short legs. Dresses hit me at a weird spot on my legs and tend to be shorter in the back, probably due to my butt. I tend to steer clear of dresses just to avoid frustration. Shabby Apple has come up with solutions for trouble body areas by dressing you by your body shape.

Just a couple short questions and you are brought to the best selections for your shape. I’m a womanly apple; not a category they have but one I think that would best suit me. I haven’t yet picked out my ideal dress yet, I have commitment issues. But these are the couple that I truly love the look of even if they aren’t the right fit for me.

The Shabby Apple designers are independent artists. Their designs are submitted and if approved collections are created from their ideas, drawings and sketchings. Doing this I believe keeps the selection fresh, modern and inviting for women coming from all different backgrounds and demographics. The 20-something can shop along-side the middle-age corporate exec and they will each find a style that suits their lifestyle without compromising taste.
With the addition of active wear, swimwear, skirts and accessories you only need to make a couple more stops to complete your wardrobe.
Win a Shabby Apple dress of your choice from one of the following collections” Roamin Holiday, South Pacific, The Berksires, Yosemite, Oh La La, Central Park, Carousel, Baja, All That Jazz and 1943. Let me know which 2 dresses from these collections are your favorites.

This Cashmere Fishnet handwoven scarf is perfect for spring. It’s large enough to be worn as a shawl or warp but lightweight enough to be used as a scarf for cool nights this season. My Avocado shade is a great contrast to a black tee and jeans or dressed up with a peep-toe pump and earrings.
A LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! reader is going to win this Cashmere Fishnet Scarf in Avocado. Visit Nepali by TDM Design and choose another scarf that would be a good fit with your wardrobe.

Sunday Linky Edition #86
Bedroom Vanity Indulgence | Giveaway WSRW Blog Party
I love make-up. I think I said it before but I’ll say it again, I love make-up. I don’t even wear a lot of it or wear it every day but I have a bit of an obsession. For High School graduation my grandmother gave me one of those glass and brass bedroom vanities, but from then on I knew I couldn’t live without one. My Marni Merlot Bedroom Vanity Set from Hayneedle is by far the nicest one I’ve ever owned.
A dark rich chocolate wood veneer adds that sophisticated feel. Antiqued hardware adds the grown-up touch. With plenty of drawers and surface space for cosmetics, hair care, fragrance and more this vanity should last longer than that blue eye shadow you picked up on impulse. The stool is upholstered in a simple cream fabric that coordinates with any décor. Even though I don’t wear cosmetics often I like sitting in my own space to apply moisturizer, brush my hair or just file my nails. It’s a girly rite of passage to own a little private luxury bedroom vanity.
The vanity comes pretty much all in one piece. It took more time to take it out of the box than to install the mirror. Rob spent about 30 minutes total with this task. It’s a pretty heavy and bulky piece also; it took both both of us to carry it from the garage to our bedroom. With the bedroom furniture and decor makeover we’ve been doing this particular vanity is a perfect match to the look we are going for; warm, inviting, relaxing and refined. A great bonus to the vanity is the mini jewelry armoire located on the side. I’m planning on adding some extra hooks for bracelets or rings.
Hayneedle is giving a LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! reader their own Merlot Bedroom Vanity Set ($480 value). Visit Hayneedle and tell me what else you must have from their site (include link).
