Bedroom Vanity Indulgence | Giveaway WSRW Blog Party

I love make-up. I think I said it before but I’ll say it again, I love make-up. I don’t even wear a lot of it or wear it every day but I have a bit of an obsession. For High School graduation my grandmother gave me one of those glass and brass bedroom vanities, but from then on I knew I couldn’t live without one. My Marni Merlot Bedroom Vanity Set from Hayneedle is by far the nicest one I’ve ever owned.

A dark rich chocolate wood veneer adds that sophisticated feel. Antiqued hardware adds the grown-up touch. With plenty of drawers and surface space for cosmetics, hair care, fragrance and more this vanity should last longer than that blue eye shadow you picked up on impulse. The stool is upholstered in a simple cream fabric that coordinates with any décor. Even though I don’t wear cosmetics often I like sitting in my own space to apply moisturizer, brush my hair or just file my nails. It’s a girly rite of passage to own a little private luxury bedroom vanity.

The vanity comes pretty much all in one piece. It took more time to take it out of the box than to install the mirror. Rob spent about 30 minutes total with this task. It’s a pretty heavy and bulky piece also; it took both both of us to carry it from the garage to our bedroom. With the bedroom furniture and decor makeover we’ve been doing this particular vanity is a perfect match to the look we are going for; warm, inviting, relaxing and refined. A great bonus to the vanity is the mini jewelry armoire located on the side. I’m planning on adding some extra hooks for bracelets or rings.

Hayneedle is giving a LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! reader their own Merlot Bedroom Vanity Set ($480 value). Visit Hayneedle and tell me what else you must have from their site (include link).

Smooth Shaving with Fogless Mirror

No more nicks or missed spots because of a foggy or soapy mirror. With the Fogless Shower Mirror Rob can now get a perfect shave using both hands in a crystal clear mirror.

It really is that easy; fill with hot/warm water, wipe away drops and use.

One of the tricks I have always used to keep shower mirrors fog-free was to rub it slightly with soap. It kinda works but then the suds distort the image. All of our shower mirrors also tend to become handhelds because the suction cups or adhesive fail. The Toilet Treet Fogless Mirror has surprisingly worked really well for the past couple weeks. it’s worked so well I’ve started using it to tweeze, apply facial masks and use facial scrubs.  It hasn’t even fallen once! I recommend picking one of these up for as a great holiday gift.

Beauty Fusion inFATuation Plumping Lipcolor Audit

By now you should know; I love cosmetics. I always have lip colors/glosses in my purse, diaper bag and coat pockets. If I wear nothing else I at least like a bit of shine. Lip Fusion from Fusion Beauty is the newest addition to my assortment. Lip Fusion is a collection of lip-plumping colors, pencils, treatments and glosses designed to give you a luscious pout without needles, doctors or pain.

Following the success of her first innovations, CLEAN™ Fragrance and Dessert Beauty™, founder and leading cosmetic entrepreneur Randi Shinder, recognized that women who wanted full, beautiful lips had very few safe and effective alternatives to costly and painful in-office injections. Working with one of the industry’s top labs, Ms. Shinder discovered a revolutionary patented technology in France – the first ever penetrating collagen. Collagen dehydrated into tiny microspheres that could penetrate and then re-plump with the body’s natural water, collagen that could mimic cosmetic filler. With this technology and with her expertise in the beauty business, Ms. Shinder developed LipFusion™ – the first needle-free, micro-injected collagen lip enhancer.

I’ve been wearing LipFusion Infatuation Liquid Shine Multi-Action Lip Fattener in Big & Bare for a couple weeks. The shine is enough to satisfy me but the plumping action is a bonus. Applying required a mirror, the texture is thick and would look streaky and clumpy if not evenly applied. The formula did tingle but didn’t hurt. I’ve heard other products burned. I did notice a plump in my lips, not a full Angelina Jolie swell but a slight fullness especially on the outer edges. I tried to capture on photo but it’s hard to notice. Maybe it’s the shine that’s tricking the eye, either way I liked the final outcome; glossy soft lips with a sexy look.
Sorry for the tired look.

LipFusion Infatuation Liquid Shine Multi-Action Lip Fattener is the first liquid lip color with extraordinary Amplifat™ technology to increase and maintain body fat just where you need it most. LipFusion’s breakthrough Amplifat™ concentrate promotes and stores your lips’ own natural fatty acids for never-before-achievable lip volume. Double-encapsulated plumping spheres deliver instant and ‘over-time’ plumping – giving your lip the volume they desire all day long.

Always innovating, Fusion Beauty has gone on to introduce GlowFusion, LashFusion and SkinFusion. From perfecting your glow and complexion to protecting and plumping your lashes, Fusion Beauty continues to re-design the landscape of the cosmetics industry. Shop Fusion Beauty in their online shop or your nearest Sephora for these products for their newest product Luxe Boudoir; $1 from each purchase of this product will benefit FusionBeauty and Seven Bar Foundation’s Kiss Away Poverty campaign.

Win your own LipFusion Infatuation Liquid Shine Multi-Action Lip Fattener(value $29) here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Visit Fusion Beauty and tell me what other product you would like to try.

Is It Programmed Into Girls At A Young Age?

Last weekend my mother in law (Gayle) was heading to get her nails done and Sabreena was also going to get her eyebrows waxed.  A few minutes before they left Gayle asked Melinda if she wanted to go to get a pedicure or manicure.  She proceeds to say if you want to come, it is on me.  Gayle is great and loves to treat the girls out to a day at the salon.

While all this was going on Shae kept saying “I want to go with Mom Mom too” and Melinda told Shae to ask Mom Mom if she could go.  Of course Mom Mom said yes because she would never tell Shae no.

When they got back everyone got stuff done while at the salon and when I say everyone I mean even Shae.  Shae’s nails were painted pink and one finger nail had a sun painted on it and another had flowers.  That was last week and Shae has had her nails painted three different times.  Everytime her nails chip she asks for them to be repianted.

I wonder where  she learned that from!

BH Cosmetics Palettes Recap

I’ve said it before, I love cosmetics and I especially love eye shadows. I found BH Cosmetics when I was searching YouTube for eye shadow application tutorials. It was love at first sight when I spotted these enormous cases with rainbows of color spilling out.

BH Cosmetics are known to be highly pigmented quality cosmetics but without the crazy high price tag of other brands. I’ve been using the 26 Shadow Blush Combo Palette exclusively now for a couple weeks. The colors are perfect for my everyday make-up application; neutrals that range from vanilla to violet to chocolate. The blush colors lovely but I’ve never used them for that, they are just more eye color shades for me. Other products include the super popular 120 color Eye shadow Palettes and the 88 color shimmer and matte finish palettes.

I also received the 10 piece Deluxe Brush Set (wood color). I’m completely impressed with the quality and softness of the brushes; made from natural & synthetic fibers and solid wood. My favorite brush is the Foundation Brush, the flat wide hairs are perfect for applying my powder foundation and concealer more evenly and more efficiently.
The advantage of natural hair is that it has scales which trap the makeup on the bristles. These scales hold the pigments and transfer it onto your skin effectively.
Check out BH Cosmetics YouTube Channel for explanations on the Palette choices, color combinations and product differences. Also know that when you purchase 2 or more palettes you will receive 10% off and BH Cosmetics guarantees your satisfaction.

For all you girly girls out there I’m giving away 2 BH Cosmetic Palettes. Visit BH Cosmetics and tell me which one you would pick. 2 winners will each get the chance to choose the palette best suited for them.

Apply Make-up like a Pro with EcoTools brushes and tools

I’m a make-up nut but my weakness is eyeshadow brushes. I love how different sizes and shapes give different definition and shading options to the same everyday colors. I purchase EcoTools cosmetic brushes for 3 reasons; the reasonable prices, the bamboo handles and synthetic cruelty free brushes and the commitment to beautifying not just our faces but also the Earth.

EcoTools is a member of 1% for the Planet, an alliance of businesses that support environmental initiatives. Each member donates 1% of annual revenue to environmental causes. In 2009 EcoTOOLS™ donation benefited EarthShare® and their mission to engage individuals and organizations in supporting a healthy and sustainable environment through education, awareness and charitable giving.
We received two brand- products, the EcoTools 6 Piece Eye Brush Set and EcoTools Bronzer Brush. Both products I handed over to Sabreena along with some further eye make-up tips and she’s been experimenting each day.  The brushes are fluffy soft, no skin-pulling.  The 6 piece set comes in it’s own pouch with a mirror and is big enough to slip in your fave eyeshadow quad for easy no fuss on the go application.

This month EcoTools has teamed up with celebrity make-up artist Meredith Baraf to bring you products and tips to create a professionally pretty face. These tips are done with video, here is Meredith’s step by step process for a flawless face

Green beauty doesn’t have to mean expensive trips to boutique salons. EcoTools gives everyone the chance to make the world a little prettier in easy steps. Shop for EcoTools online or in everyday stores like Target, Walgreens, Wholefoods and many other retailers.

Murad Skin Care Review

At the age of 35 I don’t consider myself old but I felt my skin was looking dull and dry; it had lost its vibrancy and young looking appearance maybe. I turned to family-fun and trusted skin care brand, Murad to help get my skin back to where it had been a couple years ago.

I was sent the entire Vitalic Regimen which is meant to address clogged pores, premature aging and combination skin. I suffer from all of these things; the apples of my cheeks were prime real estate for clogged and enlarged pores and I’m noticing small lines around my mouth and eyes. Murad’s Vitalic® line features pomegranate extract to balance oily and dry zones, optimizing beautiful skin through the science of cellular water™.
The first step to my daily routine is a refreshing wash using Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser. This self foaming wash is light and smells great leaving behind squeaky clean skin. I find it even removes eye makeup without excessive scrubbing. I then proceed with the T-Zone Pore Refining Gel. This step is meant to be applied to the normally oily T-Zone but I’ve been going out onto my cheeks. This is where I’ve noticed the biggest difference, smaller, clearer pores. Next is my eyes, the Moisture Silk Eye Cream calms tired, puffy eyes. Just a little goes a long way, a tiny bit is all that is needed to pat on upper lids, brow bone and under eye. The end result is satiny baby powder smooth skin. A moisturizer is a necessity; the Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer with SPF 15 is light and quick absorbing with a fresh scent.

I finish my “maintenance” routine with Energizing Pomegranate Lip Protector with SPF 15. Not only does it provide a moisture rich base for all-day long softness it shines like glass to act as a lip gloss with no further products needed. It may sound like a lot of steps but once you’ve washed and dried everything else takes seconds. Each product is absorbed quickly so you can move on to the next.
Murad is regularly recognized by top beauty experts and insiders  for their superstar line-up of skincare basics for women AND men but this company is also committed to beautifying the community from the inside out as well. Participating in organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Heal the Bay Aquarium are just a couple of the ways Murad is working to improve the lives of their neighbors. Murad Medical Group is another unique facet of their quality skincare reputation. Accredited and board-certified professionals are on staff to assist patients with skin-care dilemmas such as acne, allergies, skin cancer and other minor to severe issues.
Trust the experts, trust the name. Visit Murad and find the ideal formulation for your skin type and skin concern. Get matched with a regimen that will give you the results you are looking for or your MONEY BACK.

Sabreena’s First Try With E.L.F. Cosmetics

I love all things girly, cosmetics, shoes, jewelry, clothes. Sabreena is becoming just like me at least with the cosmetics. She’s been asking for about year for make-up but I just didn’t think she was old enough. Her 14th birthday I thought would be the perfect time to introduce her to E.L.F. Cosmetics.

e.l.f.’s philosophy is that beauty comes from within and it’s their goal to enable every woman to look and feel her personal best through the perfect blend of both the inner and outer person. With that goal in mind, e.l.f. cosmetics was born – a line of simple, luxurious, problem-solution tools that allow each woman to showcase and believe in their unique, personal beauty. e.l.f cosmetics are designed to improve and accentuate the individual, not hide her away.

I was able to pick and choose an assortment of products which included eye colors, liners, cheek colors, lip glosses and tools as a great start. Sabreena and I have very different complexions; she has a year round tan while mine dulls in the winter. I was able to us their Virtual Makeover to get colors that were just right for her color. The process is simple, upload a picture and paint away with the different make-up choices. I gave my photograph of Sabreena a makeover that was tasteful, young and healthy and then added all of those products to my list.

Her first attempts at applying liner and eye shadow were a bit messy but after a few tutorials from me and the web she’s really getting the hang of blending and smudging. She seems to be a lot like me in that the focus of makeup is on the eyes instead of the rest of the face. Some liner and gloss and she’s done.

e.l.f. Cosmetics is available online and participating Target stores with starting prices of $1. That may sound ridiculous but I find that the staying power is really good, the colors are vibrant and the tools are holding up to regular use. I have yet to find e.l.f. products in my Targets but I just got word from @askelf that they become permanent members of all Target cosmetic departments in March.

Everyday Minerals Cosmetics-Closed

As a SAHM I don’t get many chances primp and pamper myself. What I do love and consider special time alone is when it’s time to apply make-up for date night or hanging out with friends. I made the switch a couple years ago to mineral makeup and I’m hooked. I love the natural feel and look I get from just using a handful of products.

The 2nd mineral company I went to was Everyday Minerals. I’ve stuck with them because I’ve never had a problem with itching and redness like I did with another brand. Everyday Minerals contacted me a couple weeks back and asked if I would be interested in review their products. I quickly responded that I was already a HUGE fan and actually had reviewed them on my own a while back. I received a great selection of goodies, some that I choose myself and some that were a surprise.

I decided to add the new products to what I already owned and do a quick before and after to show you how they transformed my face in about 5 minutes. I’ll let you what I’m wearing and in what order I applied them and with what bamboo brush I used.

After moisturizing and letting that dry I apply using the Foundation Brush, Abbott’s Perk Me Up Concealer under my eyes, around my nose and right at my upper lash line. This helps to even out the circles and slight redness and dullness on my skin. I used to use Lavender Color Corrector for under my eyes but Abbott’s Perk Me Up seems to be doing a great job and pulling double duty.

My next step is my base. With the Long Handled Kabuki I apply Medium Beige Neutral all over my face onto my neck and under my ears. I brush this powder in a circular motion haphazardly everywhere paying attention to my eyes and around my mouth. I’ve been known to do this step without a mirror and just brushing all over my face, there really is no margin of error. Cheek color is next. Using my new Angled Blush Brush I this time applied a tiny bit of Corner Office for a hint of color.

Eyes are my favorite part of my face because I love all the fun colors I can use. This particular night we were just going for a quick dinner so kept it toned down a bit but you can usually find me in purples, greens and even blues. Using the Eye Kabuki Brush I tapped Comfy over my lids then added a bit of Morocco with the Dome Blending Brush to the outer edges. I then used Everyday Eye Smudge Brush for a touch of Oasis to add a bit of shimmer under my brow.

Eyeliner goes on last. I’ve never used powder liner before this night so this was kinda an experiment too. I was sent Postcards Eyeliner which is described as a medium gray-green. I would say it was more of a dark gray with hints of metallic olive green. I used a very very stiff skinny tipped brush to apply just at the lash line. It went on easy and stayed put for the next couple hours. My only problem was I must have spilled a little on my vanity so then all the containers were smudged with dark eyeliner powder.

My last step was applying my lips. I normally don’t go for lots of color so I first applied Rose, Cardamom and Orange lip balm then swept on Sweet Berries lip gloss.

I’m done and doing all of this took me between 4-5 minutes. Loose powder application for all over the face might take some getting used to but I think it has greatly reduced my time spent applying cosmetics. The eyeliner application will take a few more tries to perfect but I think for my first time it went well.   I’ve had great success using Everyday Minerals, while I do add items from other brands Everyday Minerals is my go to especially for base, concealer and eyes.

At Everyday Minerals you’re able to try out some of their great colors for FREE. Choose one of their Try Me Free collections for free with the purchase of any order or for just $5 on their own. Everyday Minerals prices make it easy to try different trends and shades without breaking the bank.

Every month, Everyday Forward picks a national or international charity with a focus on women’s issues. This charity will benefit from the proceeds of a particular product. This month the product is B&B, a cheek color that gives a warm glow for any skin color. The charity this month is Kiva.org, an organization that helps finance entrepreneurs around the globe.

Dad’s Perspective: The products seem to last a long time and are priced really good compared to the other brand she used to use.

LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers are getting the chance to win 1 of 2 $35 gift certificates. Visit Everyday Minerals and tell me something you learned about the Everyday Minerals, Beauty Perks or Everyday Forward.
