blog disclosure bannerFinding things to do for the entire family is sometimes hard.  With the kids being such a wide range of ages I’m bound to have a bored one on my hands at some point during an outing.  There are always exceptions to the rule though.  Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ always gets the kids excited head out the door.

With two million gallons of fun, seven different touch exhibits, the countries only aquarium wtih a Great Hammerhead Sharks,  40-foot suspended Shark Tunnel,  a 4D Theater and free live shows and up-close animal experiences daily, and it’s clear to see why a trip to Adventure Aquarium promises to deliver family memories that will last a lifetime.

Adventure Aquarium

We made our way over the Adventure Aquarium to visit Mighty Mike, a 14 foot, 800lb alligator.  Mighty Mike is said to be the BIGGEST alligator on display outside of their home state of Florida.  His exhibit allows visitors to get right up close, almost eye to eye while remaining safe behind the glass.

The Stingray Beach Club was the most popular exhibit for this visit. The last time we went to Adventure Aquarium Shae and Shaun were scared to touch the stingrays.  This time around I couldn’t get them out of the area to see the rest of the sea creatures.  Honestly I couldn’t keep their hands out of all the touch exhibits.

As my kids get older I’m finding that they appreciate these outings and events more. The educational tips  and facts they learn along the way are tucked away for use later on like a quiz for dad or mom-mom and pop-pop.

If you happen to be in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area Adventure Aquarium is a definite family friendly stop you don’t want to miss.

  1. The last time I went to the Aquarium it was not this nice. I’m going to add this to my Must-Visit list!

  2. Jo-Lynne Shane {Musings of a Housewife} says:

That looks like so much fun! We love Adventure Aquarium.

  3. The Camden Aquarium is always a good time! So much to do and see – we always hit Dave & Busters on Del Ave on the way home to make it a full day of family fun!

  4. Looks like so much fun! We love this place, but are hesitant to go back. Last year, Zoe grabbed a fish out of the petting tank. I had a heart attack and screamed, which of course only drew a ton of attention to the idiot mom by the fish tank. Honestly I was worried about the fish, but it seemed fine 🙂

  5. I have not been to the Camden Aquarium yet and this exhibit really has my children excited. I am going to see if I can get us there within the next few days. I am going to surprise them all.

  6. Looks like a great day! I want to bring my kids soon. I am thinking of taking a day off work soon to go!!

  7. Okay, I don’t think I can wait another day to see this exhibit! Everyone I’ve heard from just loved it, we’ll have to try to go over the next week or two.

  8. Love the story, my son saw Might Mike, he stared at him for 20min!

  9. I am so bummed we had to miss this! I need to plan another trip to the aquarium. The boys love it!

  10. I took my son to visit Adventure Aquarium just this weekend, and not only was I disappointed but my 6 year old was as well. Like most people we were in a big hurry and very excited to witness Mighty Mike with our own eyes because of the repeated commercial on TV. However, when we got there Mighty Mike did not prove to be what was advertised at all. The alligator we saw wasn’t even the mixed green and yellow colored alligator in the commercial, he did not appear to be 14 feet/ “longer than most cars”, and most disappointing of all is that Mighty Mike appeared to be dead, and painted an awful green and almost gray color, and placed in some water in a tank way too small for the reptile. Mighty Mike never moved, and furthermore did not look to even breath. I’m sorry to give such a negative report but it is the honest truth. Going places not only cost time but money, and it can be expensive, you at least want to get your money worth, and me being all about education I want my son to always learn something new. He learned a lesson about false advertisement this weekend.

  11. Jeff Legg says:

Very nice, my kids always love zoo/aquairiums, this one looks to be a really good one.

  12. D SCHMIDT says:

It looks like so much fun, I took my sons last year to an aquarium but I think they were far too young to enjoy the experience!
