How Do You Stay Organized?

Office supplies are my passion. Things that can keep me organize and clutter free and on top of tasks are held close to my heart. In our kitchen is a drawer full of all these wonderful things

  • Post-it Flags for magazines and homework
  • Post-it Notes for jotting down quick info, lists or messages for teachers
  • Post-it Pockets for easy access to recipes
  • Post-it Personal Calendars to stay on track for the week

Some may think we are in a digital age and paper notes and calendars are obsolete. I like to remain as unplugged as possible for a couple hours each day. This gives me time to read, play with the kids or catch up on household and family duties. In order to do this effectively I have to have certain information at the ready. This is where the Personal Calendar comes in; it’s a small blank weekly calendar that I post on the fridge or on my laptop that gives me quick glance of what’s going on the day and each day of the week. This doesn’t replace my online calendar that Rob and I share but it gives me a quick spot to double check without having to turn on a computer and wait for access.

Post-it notes have always been an obsession of mine even when I was a corporate girl. I was that person that had labels and notes on everything and they were color coded. With 3 bosses things got hectic really quick; lined and colored post-it pads were a savior. However you organize your life trust Post-it to guide you through the mess.

I Assassinate Bacteria with Violight ZapiPOP

Literally kill bacteria that settles on your toothbrush with a swift karate kick of ultraviolet light. Violight carries a collection of toothbrush sanitizers for the whole family. At first thought who thinks they need to clean their toothbrush but when you think of the area it shares a good scrubbing is a fantastic idea.  Violight UV toothbrush sanitizers eliminate 99.9% of germs including strep, e-coli and H1N1.

Researchers have found more than 10,000,000 bacteria living on a single toothbrush. Droplets produced by flushing toilets can harbor bacteria and viruses that can remain airborne long enough to settle on surfaces. Viruses that cause colds, flu, and fever blisters can survive for many days on toothbrushes. Gross huh!

This is why Violight offers a solution for everyone. We received the Violight Hi-Ya, a cute ninja dressed bulb that is designed to sanitize a single toothbrush in a few minutes. There are also a countertop model that holds and disinfects 4 toothbrushes at once, this is perfect for the kid’s bathroom or those shared by families.

I remember last winter after each cold or sore throat we would replace toothbrushes. Sometimes we replaced one kid’s toothbrush 3 times in as many months. We could’ve saved ourselves those toothbrushes with a quick sanitizing instead. Also the kid’s toothbrushes share a cup; they end up touching each other and sharing germs. Now before bed I place each toothbrush in the Ninja for a quick cleaning and do our whole toothbrushing routine without the nasty stuff.

Right now receive a free iZap Travel Toothbrush Sanitizer with ANY other Sanitizer purchase; only good for October.

The New Strawberry Shortcake

By now you should’ve heard about Shae’s newest love, Strawberry Shortcake. She’s been talking about it for weeks and keeps mentioning asking Santa. Back off Santa because I have it covered with the Strawberry Shortcake Berry Sweet Styles Playset.

Future fashionistas will love picking out fancy clothes and sparkly accessories inside the Strawberry Shortcake Berry Sweet Styles Playset! Girls can mix and match party dresses, playful skirts, stylish shirts and more to create any of 40 different possible outfits for their Strawberry Shortcake doll. No look is complete without a trendy hairdo, and girls can style Strawberry Shortcake’s hair with butterfly clips and additional accessories. One final look in the wardrobe mirror, and then Strawberry Shortcake is ready for a night on the town!

Shae hasn’t ventured into the “fashion” dolls yet, she’s still a baby doll kinda girl but I think this playset is a youthful and innocent introduction. I’m hoping Santa sends along some other playsets and characters from the Strawberry Shortcake brand.

Visit the Strawberry Shortcake website for videos, games and activites.

Rebagz Redefines Fashion with Recycling

Reduce Reuse Recycle. We’ve all heard it a hundred times but what does it really mean. Rebagz has it down with their collection of handbags, totes, wristlets and more. All Rebagz Handbags are made using recycled materials AND under fair labor conditions.

Rebagz uses coated recycled paper, recycled PET plastic, recycled juice packs and recycled rice sacks that already have beautiful graphics printed on them. These bags are handmade so may vary slightly than the picture you see online. The Juicy Hand Woven collection is made from-you guessed it-juice pouches so they are water resistant and washable with a simple wipe down. The Rice Sack Graphics line is made from rice sacks that already come beautifully designed, no screen printing is done to these bags.

All rebag. She’s made several trips to ensure her vision is carried through properly. Rebagz is also proud to carry Green America’s Seal of Approval; a unique non-profit dedicated to promoting social justice and environmental sustainability through economic action.

Sabreena was given the Juicy Hand Woven Wrap Around Bag in red. If you know anything about Sabreena you know she’s our advocate for a greener, cleaner more sustainable world. I knew she would love this bag as soon as I stumbled on Rebagz. I personally love the Rice Sack Cinchy Tote either as an all purpose tote or diaperbag or overnight bag. The design is beautiful, the print is feminine and the end result is truly unique.

Perplexus – The Orginial Recap

When I was a kid I remember having a handheld maze game where you needed to get a little ball from the start to finish by tilting the game from side to side. I remember it being fun and challenging but there is a new maze game that is 100 times better called Perplexus.

Perplexus is a maze game where you need to maneuver a small marble through many difficult barriers in a cool transparent sphere. What makes Perplexus so cool is there are 100 barriers along three different challenging tracks. You can select the track you want to attempt and now you need to carefully flip and twist to guide your marble. Play alone, race the clock or challenge a friend.

Not only is Perplexus fun but is also educational and helps with child development. It helps child with their hand-eye coordination and is also a great toy for children to exercise their motor and dexterity skills. This game is recommended for children ages 6 and above. The last thing that I think parents would really like is it does not require batteries and runs on good old fashion kid power.

This is a game that Shaun and Sabreena are definitely going to enjoy because they like mazes and challenging toys and Perplexus fits that bill.

Click HERE to find a location in your area to pick up your very own Perplexus.

Home Haircuts for ALL with Wahl

Haircuts are a necessity but sometimes they come with a luxury price tag. Home haircuts just sound bad. One might expect that old fashioned “bowl cut” or uneven bangs. Believe it or not Rob and Shaun have been getting home haircuts for a while now. Shaun has had more or less the same haircut since he was 3, a baldy cut with a slight fuzz left. He’s also had Mohawks here and there but either way I’ve done most of the cutting of his head with Wahl clippers.

With those same old Wahl Hair Clippers I’ve been able to keep up on Shaun’s hair as well as start working on Rob’s hair. Over the summer Rob decided to go for a new look; one close to the head. I took the clippers down to the #2 guide and gave him a new ‘do. He loves it; it’s easy and best of all FREE.

I got a new hair clipper set from Wahl a couple weeks back, and decided it was time to tackle my own hair. I figured I’m not that picky with my style, it’s short, choppy, asymmetrical and sometimes funky; I could accomplish that myself. I headed into the bathroom and took the clippers with the #5 guide to the back of my head. Going up from the nape to just below my crown I was getting a good feel. I had to call in reinforcements because I couldn’t reach and see all that well. Rob came in and finished that up and took it behind my ears. He did good. I continued with a mix of clippers, scissors and blending shears and the final outcome was pretty awesome; exactly what I want but don’t always get from stylists.

here is my before hair, long, shaggy, blah

I’ve found a new hairstylist and assistants, Rob and Wahl Color Pro Clipper Set. The key is to really take care of them. Use the included oil, clean out the hair and keep blades aligned. Knowing now that these simple steps would’ve kept my old clippers in good condition I will keep my new kit in tiptop shape.

Who needs a haircut?

Tailgate or Entertain with Farm Rich

Football season is upon us and that means Rob wants munchies for the games. I try to something different and more exciting than chips and salsa but really don’t feel like cooking anything most weekends. Farm Rich has a selection of tasty stand-ins that are not only easy to prepare but are quite tasty.

Most recently we got the chance to try the Mini Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches. I’m from Philly so I know a good cheesesteak. While these aren’t a match to the original they are a good substitute. They are cheesy, flavorful and small enough to be a snack or light lunch. The kids aren’t cheesesteak fans (they can’t be my kids) so Rob and I are able to enjoy 1 bag over a couple meals. We’ve always been Farm Rich fans though, most days you can find the French Toast Sticks and Cheese Sticks in our freezer.

Start your Football weekends off right with delicious selections from Farm Rich.

Pedipeds Grip n Go collection for toddlers

Baby and Kid shoes are my obsession and Pedipeds are one of the brands I trust the most for the littlest feet. The Pediped footwear system is designed to grow along with children’s feet and let them grow and develop naturally. Doctors recommend barefoot walking so Pedipeds are made to most resemble that but while offering some warmth, protection and style.

My youngest niece’s 1st birthday is coming up very soon and she’s been walking for a couple months already. The hard rubber soled shoes my sister purchased for her just made her stumble over her own feet. In Pediped grip n go collection is the perfect shoe for a toddler to transition from early walking to walking with a more confident stride. Made with all the same goodness as the original soft soled Pedipeds, the Grip n Go collection comes with stability, harder sole, rounded edges and flexibility. These are shoes that can be worn outside without threat of cold toes or wet socks.

From baby to toddler to preschool Pedipeds brings great shoes for boys and girls for every occasion. Visit them on Facebook for updates on new styles, contests and special promotions.

Tailgate, BBQ or Picnic Stains Wisk Experiment #2

Summer is over but that doesn’t end time spent outdoors. This is our favorite time of year to hit up amusement parks, baseball fields and carnivals. That usually means food on the go which means food stains. Wisk with Stain Spectrum Technology wants to help you fight those stains.

My job this time around is to show you how to get rid of Carbohydrate stains such as ketchup, bbq sauce, honey mustard and fudgy brownies. Watch as I single handily wipe out a ketchup stain on a white shirt

Here are my tools-white shirt, ketchup, brush to apply said ketchup and Wisk with Stain Spectrum
Technology laundry detergent

Ketchup being applied to white tee

Excess ketchup scraped off

Wisk detergent being rubbed into stain

After 1-2 minutes of detergent sitting on stain

Addition of water

After scrubbing for 30 seconds

After final rinse

Close up of NO STAIN in sunlight

As you can see the stain is completely 100% gone. I was a little shocked. I can’t begin to tell you how many shirts make it into the bummy clothes drawer or trash due to stains. Most recently I had to retire one of my favorite shirts of Shaun’s because of a hot chocolate stain. Had I known how well Wisk with Stain Spectrum Technology worked I would’ve been sure to treat it right away. Learn more about new Wisk on their Facebook page.

Cooking with Melissa and Doug

Do your kids have any Melissa and Doug toys or products?  If not your kids are missing out on great toys and a great opportunity to use their imagination.

It all started about a year or so ago after we got Shae her own deluxe kitchen and realized we needed some quality food for the new kitchen. After doing some searching we got her the Wooden Fridge Food Set from Melissa and Doug and we have been HUGE supporters ever since. Since that first play food set Shae has acquired a nice collection of Melissa and Doug items. Here is a list of the items that I am able to remember: Slice and Bake Cookies, Birthday set, Pizza Set, Stir Fry set and as mentioned above the Fridge food set.

Below is a little video of Shae playing with her Stir Fry Set

What is funny is I remember the day we got he Slice and Bake Cookie set.  Shae played with it ALL of the time and I am not exaggerating when I say ALL of the time.  Anytime we took a trip or went somewhere for any length of time we took the cookie set with us.  For a good month or so Shae was serving so many cookies we all had belly aches, LOL.  To this day she plays with some Melissa and Doug toy at some point in the day and now that Melinda is watching our 1 year old niece she loves to play with the stuff as well.

I am glad we discovered Melissa and Doug.  We will continue to buy there products because they have awesome products that my kids absolutely love to play with.
