Because Your Mommy Loves You

Because Your Mommy Loves You is a wonderful picture book that would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift to anyone who loves camping. The story and beautiful pictures describe a mother and son preparing and going on a camping trip. As the little boy encounters everyday situations where parents could easily step in and take control, this mother steps back with a watchful eye and allows her son to handle them on his own. I love the message of teaching self reliance in all our children, no matter what age. The younger the better. It’s a daily message that my husband and I try to get across to our children especially as they get older. And even though I do not have a son of my own, the story hit home. I read it to Peyton and she loved it. She even read it to me twice and asked about when we could go camping this summer.
mother's day book, childrens book

Written by Andrew Clements the best-selling author of many pictures books as well as novels for young readers. My Daughter, Parker, loved his middle grade novel Frindle. He also has written Because Your Daddy Loves You as a companion book.

Illustrated by R.W. Alley who also illustrated Because Your Daddy Loves You. Paddington Bear series and many other picture books.

If You Had 3 Minutes

mulitasking mom, multitasking woman, if mom had 3 minutesI thought about naming this blog Multi-Tasking Mom or If I Only Had One More Hour or Where Did The Time Go. All the titles seem to represent the same idea, I’m always doing something, usually with not enough time to get the things done.

Clorox and Karen Kaufman Orloff, author of the children’s book If Mom Had Three Arms, are creating a fun and practical e-book called If Mom Had Three Minutes with tips for moms on how to accomplish in three minutes what others can’t accomplish in 30!

Clorox wants to hear about the time-saving secrets of motherhood from veteran moms, which will serve as inspiration for the book. Your readers can visit the Clorox Facebook Page and check out the If Mom Had Three Minutes tab to:

  • Share their time-saving tips for moms
  • Learn how other moms conquer time scarcity

Their tips will serve as inspiration for the official e-book when it is released in May 2012. Since cleaning ranked as the top chore women wanted to eliminate from their to-do list, the e-book will include solutions for how to accomplish more in less time when it comes to housework!

This information was provided by Ketchum on behalf of Clorox.

If I Could Keep You Little

We’ve all had those moments; looking at our sleeping child and wishing they could stay that tiny, that innocent and that sweet. Then we look at the child 1,2 or 3 years later and think could this kid get any funnier; stay this way forever. As parents we’ve all struggled with the wish of wanting today to last forever and the wondering what the future holds.

If I Could Keep You Little is a book that talks about these challenges and the steps in between.
“If I could keep you little, I’d keep you close to me

But then I’d miss you growing into who you’re meant to be!”

Maybe the words and situations aren’t the same as when your children were growing up but the message is right on point. I remember with each child looking at their tiny newborn faces, wishing time could stand still but it that happened we wouldn’t have the laughs and smiles we have today. I read this book to Shae when I first received it for review. She sat quiet as I read her the story through smiles and tears. I cried because the story is emotional and insightful and reveals a lot about the way many mothers feel each day.

While recovering from brain surgery, author Marianne Richmond created hand-painted cards as individual thank you notes for her well-wishers, and from that small beginning started her own greeting card company, Marianne Richmond Studios, Inc.. Since then she has become a recognized creator of numerous books that celebrate milestones in life, memorable journeys, and relationships. Beginning with her first book in 1997, Gift of An Angel, writer and artist Marianne has touched the lives of millions over the past decade through her line of greeting cards and gift books.

A wonderful addition to any child’s book collection, I recommend purchasing this book.  I’m particularly glad I was offered this book for review, I’ve found so many other titles that would be a wonderful fit for my family and friends.

Baby Baby Baby a bedtime story

Books are a staple in our house. Each child has grown up with a bookcase filled with them. I want to pass that on to my nieces too. When I received an email to review Marilyn Janovitz’ newest publication Baby Baby Baby I knew to jump on it.

Book reviews are hard for me because the subject matter has to fit perfectly with the reader. In this case; a board book was the right fit. Not only is Baby Baby Baby an interactive and entertaining rhyme it’s a bedtime story. This means that each time it’s read it ends softly and with kisses and hugs.

Snuggle up close
Cuddle your cheek
Whole little baby likes to
Sleep Sleep Sleep

Marilyn Janovitz is the author/illustrator of over a dozen children’s books, including Can I Help?, Is It Time?, and What Can Be Keeping Santa?. She lives in New York City and is a former antiques dealer. She is also an assemblage artist whose works have been featured in advertisements and on textiles. Read
