Shopping Osh Kosh plus #Coupon

Shopping for Shae is really fun these days. She’s old enough to pull of fun trends and designs but still young enough that we can go bright with the colors and exaggerated with the details. Osh Kosh has been a shopping staple since Sabreena was little, that’s where her first pair of overalls came from. Today I shop Osh Kosh for Shae for their variety, quality and price. I’m lucky to have an outlet nearby that I can visit on a regular basis.  This most recent shopping trip was a complete success.

For about $103 I got Shae 3 complete outfits, a long tunic to go with existing leggings and a thick patterned pair of tights for a dress already in her closet.

I try to shop with purpose. I hate coming home with seperates that don’t have a match or unusual items that end up sitting in the closet or drawer.  I like to get an inventory of what my kids need in advance.  This was simple for Shae since I still handle her clothes. I knew what she needed. This doesn’t always help m e shop easier.  I stepped into my local Osh Kosh store and was blown away by the selection for Shae’s size. I tend to find some stores focus on the baby to preschool age but Osh Kosh had her sizes in almost everything I picked up.  Even their clearance section had lots to choose from.

Consignment and Thrift Store Shopping for Kids Clothes

I’ve talked about my thrifting before.  I love to save money by visiting our Goodwill and Salvation Army stores.  Trying to clothe 3 kids is expensive especially when you want them to wear clothes that fit and look good.  The community I live it is mostly families so I know I can find lots of kids clothes to choose from.  Getting things for boys is harder though. I chalk it up to boys being harder on their clothing and they aren’t worth donating once they are outgrown.  We keep sets of clothes for Shaun, school and play.  The play clothes end up trashed, torn and stained.

I’ve been taking more frequent trips lately trying to stock up on spring and summer clothes.  Two trips to Salvation Army and one to Just Between Friends Consignment Sale in Philadelphia really produced some great items.  Here is a REALLY long video of me going through my purchases from that date. I ramble, I can’t help it.  I apologize.

Here are my Salvation Army finds, some things were purchased on Family Discount Day, 50% off certain color tags.

Sabreena can often be found with me shopping thrift stores, especially the outlet where things are dirt cheap. This time around I took both Shaun and Shae. Shaun was bored but a good sport with trying on shorts and keeping out of trouble. Shae on the other hand picked out 20 other tees to buy. She likes clothes and really like to pick out her own things.  This is the reason I like to shop alone.

Polarn O. Pyret kids clothing from Sweden

A much-loved brand in Sweden, Polarn O. Pyret is a kids clothing company that, since its inception in the 1970s, really has stood the test of time.

PO.P is a truly eco-conscious brand. Why? Because it promotes the use and circulation of second-hand clothes.

It is proud to promote the fact that its iconic striped (as well as its plain and beautiful, bold printed) clothing designs are so durable that they can – and certainly should – be passed down through the generations.

Now that really is eco-friendly. Are there any other brands out there that promote such unbelievably environmentally sound and socially responsible practice?

Polarn O. Pyret also designs, makes and distributes its own baby and kids clothing, and which means it has full control over every aspect of its business and the direction of the company and its products. And what’s more, a large portion of the brand’s clothing range is unisex, simply because it believes that there’s not much need for clothes to be overly gender-centric.

Which is a crucial factor when handing clothes down through the family, from boy to boy, girl to girl, girl to boy and the other way around.

Since its launch back in the ‘70s, PO.P has been renowned for its iconic striped designs, and now, the kids who wore them back then are becoming parents themselves and buying the same quality as they wore way back when.
With a history of more than 35 years in the kids clothing trade, PO.P has strived and now unequivocally knows what works for kids and their parents – and what doesn’t.

layersLAYERS – that’s what works!
There’s the base layer, which is made of either wool or polyester because they are breathable, draw moisture away from the skin and therefore keep kids warm and dry.

Then, the mid layer, which is a fleece and wool blend; also breathable, this is the handy thermal layer that can go under outerwear in the colder months to keep kids warm.

And finally, there’s the outer layer, which is light, waterproof and rainproof – coupled with the base and thermal mid layers in the winter, or just with the base layer during the warmer months for protection against the wind and the rain.

Good-quality, durable coats and jackets are essential for kids all year round, and PO.P has, at the moment, got a great deal on for the back to school season. But a coat and get the fleece half price. Take a look at this selection of the beautiful, bold and unisex colours available now at Polarn O. Pyret.

I like where we live but unfortunately we live almost 20 miles from 2 of my favorite kids stores, Carters & OshKosh B’gosh. Today I only make it to that part of town once or twice a year so I like to stock up when I get the chance. I even picked up the “sweater of the year” for Shae last winter. It was cozy teal blue with a cute bunny applique on it. Crossing my fingers it still fits for this year.

Are Dad’s Able?

Sabreena has a school trip next weekend to Dover, Delaware for government that requires her to have some business casual clothes which she doesn’t.  For the last few weeks Melinda has been taking Sabreena to different stores looking for dress pants and other items but has  been coming up empty and we are now running out of time.

Since the trip is almost here and Melinda is going to be busy this Saturday watching her best friends children for the afternoon and I have ZERO plans I offered to take Sabreena clothes shopping.  Sabreena is 16 and a female and I am her dad and I offered to take her shopping.  HAHA, I am in big trouble because I don’t think Melinda trusts me to buy clothes that match or make fashion sense.  I feel shorts and a t-shirt are fashion appropriate for any trip to Dover, Delaware, kidding.

I am somewhat capable of picking clothes for the kids.  Just this week I got Shaun and Shae summer clothers online from Old Navy and Children’s Place.  Granted they are 4 and 8 years old but is the process really that different for a 16 year old?  I think HELL YEAH!!!!!

I used to always pick clothes for Sabreena but that probably was only until she hit the age of 10 or 12 then Melinda assumed full control of her clothing purchases.  I have actually taken Sabreena clothes shopping once about a year ago for sweaters and to honest it was pretty painless.  I do know that she is super SLOW in the dressing room and there is going to be a lot of trying on clothes this Saturday but as long as my iPhone is fully charged I should be just fine, I hope!

Please pray for me that I pick the right items so that Melinda doesn’t hurt me, LOL.

If you are a man do you shop for your daughter/daughter’s?  If you are a women do you let/trust your husband to shop for your daughter/daughter’s?

Boutique Clothes for Babies and Kids plus #giveaway

Spring is here and that means Shae gets to wear dresses, skirts and sandals again; she’s grown tired of sweaters and fleece. Her latest outfit from My Baby Clothes Boutique has ribbons and flowers and NO SLEEVES.

My Baby Clothes Boutique is an online shop for your little one’s entire wardrobe; baby hats and tutus all the way to boy’s suits and diaper bags. Shae’s Christmas dress and Easter outfit came from their great selection of dressy, ruffly, frilly and embellished toddler and baby clothes.

Their sizes run from infant to toddler; typically up to size 3. The few size 4 items that they do carry have been BIG hits with Shae. I wish there were more choices though, Shae might be tall but she’s still just 31/2 years old. The Mud Pie collection is my favorite but just not big enough for my big little girl.

A big shout out to their customer service too! I had sizing questions about an outfit and they were there to help with no problem at all!
