New Filtrete Water Station from 3M

In our house we drink water more then any other beverage so it is important for it to taste good and it is nice to be able to take it on the go. The New Filtrete Water Station from 3M allows us to enjoy high quality H2O at home and on the go.
What I like about the new Filtrete Water Station from 3M is it provides the convenience of bottled water without the cost or waste. Our family is into conservation and recycling but anything we can do to reduce waste is a HUGE plus. With this water station you are reducing about 3,000 plastic water bottles worth of waste per year.

Here are a few cool product features of the New Filtrete water Station from 3M:

  •  Filter lasts longer, filtering two and a half times more water than traditional pitcher filters (up to 100 gallons or for approximately three months)
  • Includes a three month filter change indicator that shows when it’s time to change the filter
  • Reduces sediments and chlorine taste and odor from tap water
  • Includes four, 16.9 ounce bottles that are dishwasher safe, BPA free and include a leak proof cap
  • Filter housing is recyclable with #2 plastics (Check with your local recycler)

I found the Filtrere Water Station from 3M to be very simple and efficient to use. I like how it is faster then traditional filters and how the water is filtered directly from the tap into the four reusable water bottles. Overall I am very pleased with the performance as well as the price. The water station itself retails for $42.99 and is available online as well as at mass merchants. The filter which is what people dread buying the most because they tend to be terribly expensive retails for $12.99 which in my opinion is pretty reasonable. The only thing I recommend is if you are a big water drinker you might want to pick up extra 16.9 ounce water bottles. For a pack of two they retail for $15.99.

So, if you drink a lot of water like my family and want something that is cost effective, simple to use and makes your water taster awesome they run out and pick up the New Filtrete Water Station from 3M.

Zuvo Water Purator Recap

Water is the #1 drink in our house with coffee #2 for me so it is important to have good clean filtered drinking water. The water in our area tastes terrible and bottle water is way too expensive so we decided to give the Zuvo Under Counter Water Purator a try. So far it is working AWESOME and the water tastes GREAT.

Melinda is very picky on the taste of the water and after I finished installing (will talk about more in a minute) the under counter water purator she was the first person I asked to taste the water. To my surprise she said the water tasted good which is huge because she absolutely hated the water in our house before the Zuvo. We use the Zuvo for drinking water and for coffee in the morning. You’ll be surprised how much different and better your coffee tastes with good filtered water instead of regular tap water.

The Zuvo Water Purator™ uses a patented five-step process to produce clean, healthy, great tasting water…just the way nature intended!

STEP 1: OZONATION

In nature, ozone is generated by lightning and cleans the air where rainwater forms. The Zuvo Water Purator mixes ozone with incoming tap water to treat taste and odor contaminants and improve taste. Like chlorine, ozone is a powerful oxidizer. Unlike chlorine, ozone leaves no chemical residue.

STEP 2: ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT

The ozone saturated water is flooded with high-intensity UV light – the same as the solar energy that cleans water in the upper atmosphere.

STEP 3: PHOTO-OXIDATION

The Zuvo Water Purator combines UV and ozone in a patented process known as photo-oxidation which releases powerful oxidizers to further treat the water.

STEP 4: FILTRATION WITH LEAD REMOVAL

Pure spring water is created by passing through fine particles in the earth. Zuvo uses the same principle by passing water through a Class 1 Particulate Reduction Filter, reducing chlorine taste and odor, lead, and tiny particulates.

STEP 5: POST-FILTRATION UV

The filtered water is again exposed to high-intensity UV light as it leaves the Zuvo Water Purator, ensuring that you get clean, healthy, great tasting water…just the way nature intended!

With the 5 step process used by the Zuvo you can see why Melinda and I see a HUGE difference in our drinking water and I am sure you would also.

Now lets talk about the installation process. The Zuvo Below-Counter Water Filtration System was pretty easy to install. I did run into two slight problems. The first is both models (above-counter and below-counter) need to be plugged in. No outlet for the plug means no clean delicious water for you. So I didn’t notice until half way through the process that I didn’t have a plug under my sink so I needed to drill through the floor in order to get to an outlet in the basement which probably took an extra hour. Also, be sure not to plug your Zuvo into the same plug as your garbage disposal because that means you would need to turn your garbage disposal on to use the Zuvo and that isn’t going to work. The second problem I had was after I was totally done the install and I turned on the water I had a leak. The problem was I didn’t have the fitting that runs to the cold water supply and to the Zuvo tight enough and that was because the piece was plastic and I was afraid to break it due to over tightening. Suggestion here is I wish the fitting was metal or brass but after a turn or two more the leak stopped. Total install time for the under counter model if you have an accessible plug would be an hour or less. We previously had a water system with a butler faucet so I didn’t need to drill a hole for that but if you did maybe another 10 minutes on the hour install time and I am sure I am over estimating.

I am very impressed with the Zuvo so far and the quality of drinking water that is produces. The butler faucet dispenses water a little slowly for me because I am super impatient but maybe that is because the rigorous process the Zuvo puts the water through. It is well worth the few seconds wait for good quality drinking water.  If you want to pick up a Zuvo for your home click HERE to see where you can purchase one.
