Ace Marks Dress Shoes – Artisan Dress Shoes Reinvented for the Modern Gentleman

When I was in the banking industry I needed to dress up every single day for work which I really liked. After my last banking position I make a total career change and started working for UPS as a package car driver. This field required me to wear a uniform with black boots or sneaker so I no longer really dress up like I did before.

My favorite part of dressing up is wearing really nice dress shoes and I had my go to shoes but I was recently contacted about a brand called Ace Marks. Ace Mark is the fastest growing shoe campaign in kickstarter history reaching their goal of $20,000 in less than 24 hours and I can see why.

It’s a $600 luxury shoe for less than $200. Ace Marks is handcrafted in Italy by a family of 4^th generation master craftsmen. Their work for other labels usually retails north of $600 but they are going to offer Ace Marks at $200. That isn’t even the best part of the company. What really caught my eye is that Ace Marks is the first and only luxury brand that will buy back its shoes. Customers will be able to send back their old Ace Marks for a $60 credit towards a new pair. They have partnered with Career Gear, a leading national organization helping men in need, to donate your old shoes and help men get back on their feet and re-enter the work force.

So not only are you getting hand crafted quality shoes for a great price but once you are done with them they will be donated so someone in need can have a nice pair of shoes which to me is a really great program.

I haven’t tried these shoes just yet but I am looking forward to getting a pair of the Wing Tip Vincent.

Pediped Footwear for Kids

At six years old, Shae has lots of opinions about what she wears. She doesn’t always get final say but I like to hear what she thinks about certain styles, patterns and colors. Her view on comfort is one I listen to all the time. Pediped Footwear have been one of my favorites for Shae since she was little because they’ve been a shoe I could count on.

She’s always on the move, always has been and I’m not about to stop her. She’s a girl with many interests and personalities and her fashion is an extension of those differences. We look for brands and companies that work with her changing character.

UMI Shoes Recap

It’s back to school time and that means we are cleaning out closets and drawers and seeing what the kids need in terms of new clothes and shoes. While I love scouring thrift and consignment shops for clothes I know nothing beats a quality pair of new shoes.

First Day of School Shoes @UmiShoes

Running on Cloudrunners

As you know Rob and I took up running a few weeks ago. Our progress hasn’t been as good as I wanted mainly due to some pain. During the first week of running I was getting intense pain in my feet, they were burning, going numb and felt bruised. I got some comfort insoles. Then I was having issues with my ankles, twisting them with simple steps. I then got a ankle brace to add some stability.

I realized I was wearing the wrong running shoes. I needed something that was going to support and stabilize my steps. Getting up off the couch and instantly running was hard on my body. Rob and I did some research on good running shoes and found a company that actually has a shoe that is perfect for overweight people. On is a shoe company that specializes in running shoes. That’s it. No gear, no clothes, no gadgets, just a focus on the feet.

A couple days before receiving the Cloudrunner’s I started to develop what I thought were shin splints. Here I am 2 weeks later with the same agonizing pain unable to run more than a few minutes. Now Rob thinks i could have a minor stress fracture so I’m am going to take it easy.

I noticed better running form, better breathing, better endurance. I feel like I could be on a good road towards running that is fun.

Today running is not fun, not something I look forward to. I want that day to come and plan on continuing the training when my right leg cooperates. I’m signed up for the Blogher 5k Fun Run and will be there, running, walking, hobbling or even wheeling myself down the streets of Manhattan.

The Funkier the Better

I’ve said it so many times before, Sabreena is a jeans and tees kinda girl. She likes to make this simple style her own by adding little pops of color or design. When Apparel Dynasty approached me to review their products I thought for sure their shoes would right up Sabreena’s alley.

Apple Radio Sneakers is what she selected from the entire crazy, colorful collection of sneakers, heels and flats. I thought for sure she would’ve picked pumps but these showed up and I knew she made the right choice. The bright yellow looks great against her jeans. At first I wasn’t sure about the quality. The strong rubber smell permeated the house for hours but as far as construction they are holding up well. This style sneaker is all Sabreena wears so they fit right into her wardrobe.

Shaun is the typical boy; tshirts, running shorts and sneakers tend to be his uniform for school. As cool weather comes around just switch the shorts with jeans. He likes to be able to take off on foot if the opportunity arises and doing that is fancy shoes doesn’t work. I asked him to pick out his New Balance 688 and he instantly chose gray/red/black color combination with the alternative closure. The kid knows how to tie his shoes but that is just a waste of his time. A quick hook & loop closure is the much better way to go to get out the door and to the bus stop.
