Philadelphia Wings Lacrosse Giveaway

The Philadelphia Wings are a member of the National Lacrosse League, a professional box lacrosse league in North America. They play at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Philadelphia Wings #philly #sports

If you’re unfamiliar with Lacrosse think fast paced soccer played with sticks instead of feet with lots and lots of body contact. Lacrosse is an aggressive sport not meant for the faint of heart. This hard hitting game doesn’t lack on thrill and excitement. Shaun started playing last spring and loved it but came home battered and bruised but also more fit and energized than ever.

The Philadelphia Wings started their 2014 season with a 17-13 win on the road against their East Division rival Buffalo Bandits. Their home opener on January 12th has them facing off against the Buffalo Bandits again.

Major League Lacrosse Championship ticket #giveaway

If you are a kinda regular reader here you might know that Shaun played his first season of Lacrosse this past spring. It was a different experience than football last fall. An incredibly positive and energizing experience. No wonder why I was all geeked out when I got the email to attend the Major League Lacrosse Championship later this month.

MLL is comprised of eight teams across the US and Canada. The Boston Cannons, Chesapeake Bayhawks (formerly Baltimore and Washington), New York Lizards (formally Long Island) and Rochester Rattlers are original teams starting in 2001. The Denver Outlaws began play in 2006 as part of the League’s western expansion. The Hamilton Nationals (formerly Toronto) joined MLL in 2009 as the League’s first international team. The Charlotte Hounds and Ohio Machine began play in 2012 as a part of the League’s expansion initiative to have 16 teams in the next decade.

Major League Lacrosse began play in 2001 to capitalize on the growing demand for world-class field lacrosse driven by dramatic growth in the U.S. lacrosse market. The MLL was praised and heralded for its on-field play, regarded as the best ever seen. With a year-on-year attendance increase, Major League Lacrosse has continued to lead the sport of lacrosse into the mainstream of competitive team sports.

We are seeing a growth of popularity in our area and hopefully this will continue as Shaun continues with athletics during his school days.

The Major League Lacrosse Championships are being held in Philadelphia at PPL Park where the Philadelphia Union (soccer) currently play.

Major League Lacrosse Championship

The weekend will begin with the semifinals on Saturday, Aug. 24 (1:00pm & 4:00pm), followed by the final on Sunday, Aug. 25 (3:00pm). The event will also feature the MLL Fan Zone an interactive area with fun and games for lacrosse fans of all ages.

Get a discount on your ticket purchase just by using code “MOMMLL” for $5 off each ticket, prices range from $43-$53 each.

We are giving away a 4-pack of tickets for the Finals on August 25th, 3:00pm. To enter just tell me what other sporting events have you attended in the past.

I don’t understand this behavior

I admit I have a bit of an obsession with handbags and makeup but I keep them reasonably tucked away in their own spot for when I need them.  What I don’t understand is a man’s need to dedicate his love of a sports team from floor to ceiling and everything in between.

Man Caves are meant to be a sanctuary, a getaway within the walls of your own home.  These hideaways have been known to really take on a life of their own.  Bright obnoxious paint, lifesize decals, framed signatures on anything a signature would fit on and of course the oversized loud colored reclining furniture.  I’ve just pretty much described my father’s basement.  Though he has spared my mother the obnoxious paint he went overboard on the chotchkies and Philadelphia Eagles Christmas Village Collection.

Behavior like this can be found all over the country. What it all means is men love being a part of something and bringing together friends and family for the same thing.  Getting together is what it’s all about.   Good Food, Great Friends and Close Family.

Is it Possible to Die of a Broken Heart

Just a few short months ago Joe Paterno was a vibrant vision on the fields Beaver Stadium at Penn State. His life was dedicated to the school, the team, the fans and his family. He was living the life most people only dream about. Then something happened; something tragic and senseless and immoral. Joe Paterno was removed from the school and the team he was devoted to for the last 46 years.
joe paterno, joepa, penn state
Mr Paterno spoke about the Sandusky case with a heavy heart. He said he honestly felt as if he was guilty of making a poor judgment call concerning the situation. He did what he thought was right at the moment for everyone. JoePa was a man of dignity, loyalty and pride. Hindsight is 20/20. The legacy he leaves behind is now tarnished. Should his life be condemned for the flaws or revered for the accomplishments?

Is it a coincidence that less than 3 months after being told to leave the only life he knew he died? Did a little piece of him die each day as his mind was forced to think about the abuse case that was surrounding him?

Whatever your thoughts on the Sandusky case, JoePa’s mistakes, the team or the University’s decision to stay quiet it’s a sad day at Penn State and many homes around the country.

Football Will Be The Death Of Me

This year Shaun is finally old enough to play tackle football and I found a new team that is part of a 14 team Pop Warner League in our area.  When I found this league I dove in head first not thinking about all of the work and hours it was going to take to help make this team successful.

Currently I am the head coach for the mitey mite which is for kids that are 7,8,and 9 years old and weigh between 45 lbs and 90 lbs.  Being that this team is new they were looking for volunteers so I have been trying to help in every area that I can.  I have worked on recruiting, registration as well as website redesign.  I work on something football related everyday weather it is for myself or for the team.  Today I spent some time finding CPR classes as well as coaches clinics in the area.  Tomorrow we have a meeting at 7pm.  Since this past Friday today will be the third straight day with tomorrow being the four where I have had something to do for football.  Recently Melinda was lucky enough to be pulled into the madness.  Right now the team is very disorganized and we have a long way to go but I feel in the end we will be successful and a great asset to the community.

Right now I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel but the end is coming and I am really excited to see what unfolds and maybe be able to rest a little.  I guess being a head coach is going to make it hard to relax. Guess I will have to relax after my team makes it to the playoffs.

Philadelphia Wings 4-pack tickets Giveaway

While we love doing things as a family sporting events are usually top on our list. The cost for our family of 5 to attend a MLB or NFL game could easily cover groceries for about a month. To keep it reasonable without losing the excitement and action we are attending a Philadelphia Wings game.

The Philadelphia Wings are members one of 13 teams of The National Lacrosse League, North America’s professional indoor lacrosse club. Lacrosse features some of the strongest, fastest and best athletes in the world. NLL teams each play a 16-game regular season schedule (eight home and eight away) that begins in December and runs through April, followed by the Champion’s Cup Playoffs. There are no tie games in professional indoor lacrosse, there is always a WINNER.

Celebrate the Wing’s 25th Anniversary and make it a family event that’s friendly to the wallet by taking advantage of the Family Pack; 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 sodas for just $100! Win a 4-pack of tickets to the April 10th game against the Rochester Knighthawks at the Wells Fargo Center. Tell me what kind of professional sports events you’ve ever been to.
