I just got my sneak peak Acme Markets weekly ad in my inbox. I signed up a few months back so I didn’t miss out on any good deals if the circular didn’t make it to my mailbox. Especially right now during their #StockUpSale i don’t want to miss something that could really make a difference in my budget. I’m making my list on my MyMixx account right now so I don’t miss a thing.

Halloween Whoopie Pies Acme Markets #StockUpSale

It’s the special time of year again. Time for Acme Markets Stock Up Sale. Cool weather and the upcoming holidays bring great prices on soups and comfort foods and needs for entertaining friends and family.

Acme Markets, part of the Albertson’s family, is our neighborhood grocery store. That means it’s were we trust to get great deals, high quality and a wide selection on everything our family needs to eat 3 meals a day, sometimes 4 if you include dessert.

Deals on flour, sugar, coconut milk, evaporated milk, eggs and yogurt are just begging for something to be baked up.

Black Velvet Whoopie Pies

Servings: 24
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes

Dive into the spirit of the season with a tempting new take on red velvet cake. These mini cake sandwiches pop with Jack-O-Lantern Orange, Frankenstein Green and Phantom Purple fillings that can be customized to your taste with flavors like Orange, Lemon and Raspberry.

Ingredients

1 package German chocolate cake mix with pudding
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 Tbs McCormick® Black Food Color
3 eggs
1 Tbs McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 jar marshmallow creme
1/2 tsp McCormick® Pure Orange Extract
1/2 tsp McCormick® Red Food Color
1/2 tsp McCormick® Yellow Food Color

Directions
For the Cookies, preheat oven to 350°F. Beat cake mix, water, cocoa powder, oil, food color, eggs and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed just until moistened, scraping sides of bowl frequently. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes.

Spoon 1 tablespoon of batter, 2 inches apart, onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets. (Cookies will spread so avoid crowding them on baking sheet.) .

Bake 8 minutes or until cookies are puffed and spring back when touched, turning baking sheets halfway through baking. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

For the Orange Filling, beat all ingredients in medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. To assemble the Whoopie Pies, place 1 tablespoon filling on flat side of 1 cookie. Top with a second cookie, pressing gently to spread the filling. Repeat with remaining cookies and filling. Store whoopie pies between layers of wax paper in airtight container in refrigerator up to 5 days.

Meal Planning with #MyMixx Acme Markets

If you haven’t already checked out Acme Market’s MyMixx app you are missing out. Right from your phone you can create a shopping list, clip coupons and check out the weekly circular.

I’ve been using MyMixx to work on weekly meal plans because I can see exactly what’s on sale and know what I’m cooking for dinner. Doing this has helped me not only save time but also save money. Who doesn’t like to save money?

Shopping #MyMixx app from Acme Markets

When you look through your grocery store ads each week how many MUST HAVE items do you see? This past week during my weekly shopping trip and I found Eggo Waffles (box of ten) on sale for $1. There are always lots of things for $1 at Acme Markets but this is by far one of the best finds ever when scrolling through the MyMixx App.

Waffles are a staple in our house much like bread and milk are in other homes. Waffles are eaten everyday by someone and are used for breakfast lunch and dinner.

The sale ad at Acme Market is a like a treasure hunt. I love sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and my list to put together everything we need. The new MyMixx app makes things even easier these days too. I don’t always have the time for a leisurely scan of the sale ad but now I have it at my finger tips when I’m not at home.

Not only did I stock up on our go-to breakfast food I also snagged 12-count case of snapple for $5.99. Rob and I love their Diet Raspberry and Diet Lemon tea and this price is too good to pass up.

Back to School happened for us this week too. I hit up the deli department and got lunchmeat for the next couple of weeks for just $3.99/lb. I freeze lunchmeat and cheese so we always have it on hand and I’m not running to the store on Sunday night.

Acme Markets, Win Groceries for a Year #IHeartAcme

If you follow Rob and I on Facebook or Instagram you’ll notice lots of food pics. We like to share what’s for dinner, where we’re eating out and even some food fails. Lately you’d notice lots of food being cooked on the smoker. For the first few months of using the smoker we made lots of pulled pork, ribs and chicken. I wanted to venture into beef but I wasn’t sure what to make. I was roaming the meat department when the Acme Markets Butcher asked if I needed help. We then had a long conversation about what meats work best with a long slow smoke.

This brought me to the famous brisket. It was the best piece of meat I’ve ever had. I’ve had brisket before but didn’t like it. This was amazing. The butcher gave me some tips and they definitely worked on our favor.

This is the kind of service one expects from Acme.
