Dover Welcomes Outback Steakhouse

I’m not sure what a juicy steak, a deep fried onion or chicken tortilla soup have to do with Australia but I do know they all taste so so good at Outback Steakhouse. A new restaurant has opened in Dover, DE, and their opening day was one to be proud up. On October 3rd Outback Steakhouse donated a portion of the restaurant’s sales to the Food Bank of Delaware.

The Food Bank of Delaware distributes millions of pounds of products each year to its network of 575 hunger-relief program partners throughout the state and also provides thousands of meals a month for children through the After-School Nutrition Program, the Summer Food Service Program and the Backpack Program. The Food Bank’s hunger-relief programs provide for Delawareans at risk of going without meals each year. The Culinary School at the Food Bank of Delaware, the Food Bank’s workforce development arm, provides training for adults interested in careers in the food service industry.

As new comers to the neighborhood the support Outback Steakhouse is showing towards the communities needs is astounding. It’s gestures like this that make brands and businesses stand out and make us keep going back.

This restaurant will feature a “Modern Australia” design with décor that mirrors the indigenous flora and fauna, adventure, geography and leisure of modern day Australia. Guests will also enjoy a spacious, energetic bar area that includes two community tables – a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy specialty beer, wine and hand-crafted cocktails. The bar will also feature customized seating and furnishings.

Spring Cleaning with Eureka

I know we are so close to June but there is still plenty of time for you to get done your Spring cleaning. Spring cleaning is one of those things that in my opinion can be done anytime of the year and in our house we do a full house scrub from top to bottom at least four times a year if not more.

Eureka was kind enough to send me the Eureka AirSpeed All Floors Upright Vacuum model AS3012A to help me tackle my Spring cleaning which I really appreciate considering we have a full house. With three kids and three dogs we are using the vacuum at least twice a day sometimes three depending which means we need a dependable vacuum since we put ours through the ringer. (so far this baby is working and cleaning like a CHAMP!)

When this vacuum first arrived it took me about 10 minutes from box to use which I thought was pretty good. It was super simple to use right off the bat without reading any instructions and the suction power is insane like I have already mentioned.

Since receiving this vacuum it has been used at least a dozen times and we have put this bad boy to the test cleaning all types of different surfaces and it passed every one with flying colors. We have owned may vacuums over the years and this one ranks at the very top for me. All I look for is good suction and easy to use. If it can clean the rugs and leave them spotless while being simple to use I am all in.

With over 40 interactive exhibits guests will have the opportunity to learn about the film-making process from where it all started, Toy Story to their latest box office hit, Inside Out. You’ll be able to see and hear first hand what goes into creating some of Pixar’s most loved characters from members of the actual production teams. This demonstration of ultimate creativity, imagination and storytelling is something you don’t want to miss.

Exhibit Highlights:

In Sets & Cameras, visitors will discover how a bugs-eye view was achieved for A Bug’s Life by viewing an actual set from a bug’s perspective through a viewing portal and then using camera angles and large-set design techniques on a touch-screen computer.
Visitors will learn how Toy Story’s digital sculptures are created based on sketches from artists in Modeling.
Visitors will enter a scene from Finding Nemo in Lighting to solve challenges similar to what Pixar artists faced in creating animated water with virtual light.

Starting Your Morning Off Right #GIVEAWAY

I hear a lot of people say that they either don’t like breakfast or don’t have time for breakfast which to me is totally weird. The Babiak’s take breakfast very serious. Weekday breakfast is usually low key since we all get up and leave the house at different times but when the weekend rolls around that is when breakfast time gets real. Weekends in the Babiak household typically start out with a nice homemade breakfast which includes pancakes, eggs, some kind of breakfast meat and lots and lots of coffee and juice.

The kids also look forward to the weekend because they know they are going to get a nice homemade breakfast and can put oatmeal and cereal on hold until Monday. I enjoy waking up early, turning on the coffee and the radio and making a nice breakfast for the family. Shaun and Shae typically wake up a little after me and keep me company while I make breakfast. We use weekend breakfast as a time to unwind and talk about the last week and begin planning the upcoming week. I love sitting around the kitchen with a hot cup of coffee and just talking with the family, it’s very relaxing.

There are some weekends where we are jam packed with activities but somehow we find a way to have a nice breakfast either Saturday or Sunday. Weekends are times that I really enjoy and I hope the kids will remember as well and will carry on the breakfast tradition once they have kids.

Time To Talk Hungry Jack Protein Pancakes Plus Giveaway

Elmo says breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I totally agree and so do my kids. I’ve been told I have great skin. For as long as I can remember it’s been one of my best assets. Also for as long as I can remember I’ve been taking care of it simply by washing it and applying Oil of Olay moisturizer. Camp Invention more than just Summer Camp #Giveaway

As a working parent the looming summer is bearing a heavy burden on my shoulders. We’re set up with the pool membership, my mother has retired and plans on doing activities with the kids, my oldest is changing her work schedule so she can have more fun this summer instead of working all day.

But what about the dreaded “brain drain”. In my opinion summer should be fun. Not full of assignments and reports but there also has to be some stimulation of the mind that DOESN’T come from video games. This is where Summer Camp comes in. Camps give kids a bit of structure in the middle of summer chaos. The schedule and organization is reminiscent of school but definitely with MORE fun and creativity involved.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Camp Invention, the nation’s premier summer enrichment day camp with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with hands on activities. These young minds are exposed to innovative giants such as National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF) Inductees, United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) representatives and high-profile educators. Each year embarks on a new adventure and program.

For 2015 Camp Invention brings to its campers “Illuminate”. This year’s program will encourage students to explore their inventiveness through an innovation laboratory, investigation of circuits and taking on a nature-inspired design challenge. As they build and make discoveries, they will have a chance to invent a prototype from scratch and explore math from a new angle when they create origami flight models during team-building exercises.

This year Shae will be a camper and Shaun will be a counselor in training with Camp Invention/Invention Project. This will be their first experience with summer camp and its gonna be amazing.

Coconut Lime Chex Mix #Recipe for Spring

Do you know how happy I am to finally see bright blue skies and green grass. Hopefully we won’t see another flake of snow till next winter and the freezing temperatures are gone for good.

It’s spring time. That means time spent outside, grilling, sitting around the bonfire, enjoying fresher and tastier food and drinks and enjoying the new season. With these changes come new attitudes and cravings. I picked up a bag of limes from the farmers market and knew they were just the right thing to get everyone else into the same spirit as me.

Margaritas are always a hit for movie night but I wanted to shake things up a bit by switching out our typically snacks with something more refreshing. This is where my Coconut Lime Chex Mix happened.

A little imagination is all that was needed to make this fun and scrumptious treat. I always keep a good supply of ingredients on hand just for these special occasions.

The beauty of Chex Mix is the ability to create your own flavor combination. Put your favorite tastes together for a delicious sweet or savory snack or even dessert.

Coconut Lime Chex Mix

Ingredients

6-8 cups Chex Cereal of your choice

3-4 cups air-popped popcorn

1 cup white chocolate chips or vanilla candy melts

4 tbls coconut oil or butter

1-2 tsp fresh lime juice

1 1/2 cups coconut flakes

1 cup powdered sugar

1-2 tsp fresh lime zest

Directions

In a VERY large or 2 large plastic zipper closure bags add the cereal and popcorn mixture. In a microwaveable bowl or measuring cup melt the butter and chocolate chips till smooth and pourable. Add the lime juice and immediately pour over the cereal. Stir, shake and move till it coats as much of the mix as possible.

Add the coconut, sugar and lime zest and give the mixture another good shake or stir.

Let cool, add to large bowl and enjoy.

The white chocolate gives it a little extra sweetness but it can be skipped. I’d add a touch of vanilla to the melted butter though.

This is making another appearance for our upcoming girls night in as well as Easter dinner. Come up with your own Chex Mix creations just by adding a little bit of this and little but of that.
