Vacation Safety Tips

Vacation Safety Tips for your upcoming summer travels. This list is meant to help keep your family safe.

1. Have each child (ages 0-18) wear a physical ID at all times such as a personalized ID bracelet or personalized dog tag. Our family wears Extreme Sports ID bands, Rob reviews them here
2. Play the “What if…” game with your children. What if Mommy gets lost? Do they know to find another mommy or police or security officer?
3. Wear matching clothes. It may sound corny but it will help in emergencies. If you’re wearing a red shirt and blue shorts so is you lost child.
4. Plan for emergencies. If you get separated, stay where you are and we will look for you. Find a grown up nearby and ask them to call the contact information on your identification.
5. Have a recent photo of each child along with a description (height, weight, birthmarks, scars) with you at all times.
6. Keep handy contact information for family not traveling with you. Put this information everywhere; wallet, purse, car, diaper bag, hotel room. These lists will come in handy during stressful situations.
7. Every person should carry an ID card with contact names and phone numbers and medical information, this should be carried or stored in a backpack, wallet, carseat, stroller or purse.
8. Teach your child to drop to the ground and scream loudly “This is not my Mommy/Daddy. HELP” of someone is trying to take them.
