Why do you Twitter? I know some people say Tweeting but I am pretty sure I recently learned that Twittering is the correct use in my context.
People from all walks of life use Twitter and all for different reasons. Lance Armstrong uses Twitter to promote his Livestrong and cycling message, Chris Brogan to talk about social media and countless others use it just to chat.
Twitter is a new form of communication for me and I use it for a few reasons. The #1 reason is as support for our blog.
Getting The Word Out
I use Twitter to get the word out about what is going on in regards to our blog. What better way to reach the masses then with Twitter. Twitter reaches so many people that traditional means could never reach. Tweeting a blog post can reason thousands of people with the click of a button bringing increased traffic back to your blog.
The Power of Retweeting
Retweeting is a very powerful tool that I think some people overlook. Think about if you tweet your blog post or a review/giveaway. Someone who is following you Retweets your post. Then someone who is following them Retweets that post. Get the picture? Your post gets seen by so many people quickly with little to no effort on your part. Your post that you just did has the potential to be viewed by thousands in seconds which now has the power to bring a lot more traffic back to your blog that you might not have received otherwise.
In the past few month people are now starting to realize the power that the Retweet has. That is the reason you are seeing some many people with a Retweet button on their blog posts. Once I realized how effect Retweeting was I jumped on the bandwagon and added a Retweet button to our blog. You should too!!!!
Now remember you need to be a retweeter also and not always expect others to retweet for you. People really appreciate Retweets. I know I do as it helps get my message out.
Fast and Effective
Twitter is such a diverse universe of people with so much knowledge that it is a great place to find answers to your questions. Usually within minutes if not seconds people are Tweeting you back with an answer. That is such an awesome thing about Twitter. People helping out other people.
Twitter is a very effective tool to get whatever your message is out into the hands of the people. I am still finding how Twitter can help me and our blog but it is a blast figuring out.
I am sure there are a million more reason why I should be using Twitter but this is all I could come up with at this time.
