I accepted a position last Friday but am still waiting for my finger printing, drug and background check to come back before I can start. So I am sitting here thinking about a few things you need to do while looking for a new job or even changing jobs.
- The first thing is know your worth – Know what you can and will bring to the table for your perspective employer so you can make sure you are paid accordingly.
- Be proactive – Do whatever you can to facilitate your job employment in a forward motion. What I mean by this is if you need to make follow up calls and make sure all documents are in place and in order make sure you do that yourself if possible. Don’t wait for someone to always call you to tell you what the next step is because like I am finding out this week that doesn’t always work.
- Look out for #1 – That is you! You are the most important person in this process. Again, I am finding out this week that I am just one of many unemployed people who are trying to get back into the work force so I am needing to look out for myself and I am having to be proactive to make sure my employment process moves forward.
The above are just a few things you can do that should help you out. The three points above can pertain to more than just job hunting.
What other things could I add to this list? What else would this list be pertinent to other then job hunting?
