Running this blog you can imagine we receive packages almost daily, sometimes more than once a day from different carriers. I’ve seen some really unique packaging jobs over the past two years but yesterday was one of the worst I have seen in a long time.
This is the box we received.
The label says the weight was 20lbs and it was shipped next day, am delivery, imagine the cost. Now imagine the products being the size of a cereal box and weighing about 1 ½ pounds. It was a food product, valued at $6, packaged with about a dozen ice packs, plastic, Styrofoam all within a large cardboard box. This was delivered about 9am by UPS, the driver came back later that day for another delivery.
What an irresponsible and expensive way to get your products reviewed. For something like this an envelope with a $.44 stamp stuffed coupons would’ve completed the job without the excessive costs and waste and fuel for delivery. This isn’t the first time this has happened either. We received something last year, something small, packed in a huge Styrofoam cooler with dry ice, another HUGE waste of money, fuel, space and non-reusable materials.
Attention PR and Business this is not necessary. Rethink your review process. If it cost more to ship than the value of what you want reviewed than maybe this isn’t the right way.
