Then you have to follow the rules. Entry Requirements and Contest Rules are clearly stated. We do reviews and giveaways because it’s fun and we want you guys to get cool stuff but when things don’t go the way they are supposed to the fun flies out the window.
Lately Rob and I have been picking winners for our contests only to find people not following the rules. Entry requirements are put in place for a reason. A sponsor sends us a product for review and giveaway to get their name out there, it’s called marketing and advertising. In return they would like clicks through to their website, facebook fans and twitter followers. These EXTRA entries aren’t to make contests unfair for those that don’t use facebook and twitter but are put in place for the benefit of the sponsor. You are not at all required to do them but if you leave a comment saying you did know that I’m going to do my best to double check.
A tweet about the giveaway MUST include the sponsors twitter name, a description of the prize, the link and maybe where the giveaway is going on. This is given to you to simply cut and paste.
Example: @Borders Rewards Plus Membership AND Kobo EReader Giveaway @lkwhtmomfound http://bit.ly/bjZfOn
Rules clearly state that an email address must be in your comment or on your profile. I used to go through and check blogs but lately with all the extra buttons, messy sidebars and advertising links/banners it’s been impossible to find “Contact Me” here on some sites. Your email address must be found in the comment or on your blogger profile. Just to let you know you don’t have to have a blog to have a blogger profile. I wish we could move to wordpress do this step wasn’t necessary but that’s not the case right now.
Facebook status updates are tricky. Ideally I would love them to say something like this:
Borders is giving away a EReader and Rewards Plus Membership over at LookWhatMomFound….and Dad too (then include link).
The confusion comes as to where to post this. It should go on either YOUR wall or the sponsors wall as long as they allow posts from fans/readers. The point is to get other people to see it and hopefully follow the link and enter too. More exposure for the sponsor, more exposure for us, YAY!
We’ve cut down dramatically on the amount of entries available for the giveaways. It is a simpler process now so we shouldn’t come across ineligible comments anymore. If you come across a problem or question about the process let us know. We are always on twitter or on email. For more winnings check out pure win registration.
