JCPenney Portrait Studio April Specials

The grass is green, the trees have leaves and the sun is shining. In my house that means we head outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. It also means the kids are active and I’m snapping more pictures. For the last couple of years I’m tried skipping the portrait studios and started taking more action shots of the kids doing what they do best; have fun.

That’s not to say I don’t get professional portraits done. In fact I’ve been thinking about getting their portraits done soon. Over the years I’ve established a few guidelines/rules of my own to make the picture taking process easy. I’ve even gone so far to create in photography inspiration board on Pinterest to capture my ideas to come back to.

  • Choose early morning session. Everyone is usually fresh and happy and I don’t have to worry about running into lunch and naptime.
  • Keep wardrobes simple and bright. Clothing should be clean and stain free but should be things the kids wear on a normal basis. Jeans and nice shirts are typically my go to. This keeps the focus on the children not the loud patterns or embellishments that can easily be added.
  • Experiment with backgrounds and props. Flourishes should enhance your child’s photos not take away from them. Birthday sessions can include balloons or wrapped gifts and Graduations should have a diploma and cap and gown but adding multiple props can clutter the image and your child could be lost in the shot.

Schedule a visit to your local JCPenney Portrait Studio to not only take advantage of their fun accessories but get a great deal this month; $20 for 6 traditional portrait sheets (mix and match size and images, 10X13 and smaller) as well as one free $9 sitting fee. This is the perfect time to capture those smiles and giggles; Mother’s Day is right around the corner.

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of jcpenney Portrait Studio. I was asked to create a Pinterest Board and pin at least five (5) pins. I give jcpenney the right to repin any or all images/original content from this board. I received a promotional item as a thanks for my participation.”
