Halloween in just about here and over and I made little to no attempt at decorating. In the garage I have boxes and boxes of fun indoor and outdoor Halloween themed decor but just couldn’t be bothered with getting them out, unpacked and arranged. I love when the house is decorated but the process of putting them out and then cleaning them up at the end of the holiday is overwhelming lately. I purchased a window covering so that from the outside it looks we have have zombies in the house, That’s as far as it went.
I shouldn’t even complain about the Halloween and Fall decor. It’s the Christmas boxes that overtake the house. We have a box dedicated strictly to Christmas tree lights. Each year Rob and I argue about what color should go on the tree; white or multicolored The kids get their own lights on their trees but it stops there. I do not put lights outside. Rob is afraid of heights and there is no way I’m getting lights 3 stories up.
I need to get out of my scroogy funk and embrace the celebration more. I’m so worried about how long things will take that I’m missing out on the fun moments and memories. This is the time to establish traditions that last a lifetime not complain about messes.
