Some of you might follow me on Instagram and Facebook. If so you’ll see that one of our family members rejoined us. Sam the dog left us 2 years ago and circumstances arose that brought him back. We had a little adjustment period but he slid right back into his spot in our home.
Not much has changed. He loves running, balls, chasing cats and rabbits and cuddling like he’s a lap dog. Unfortunately something happened while he was gone and I don’t feel 100% comfortable with him around strangers. The day after he came home we took him for a check up and he snapped at the Vet and the Assistant. This also meant he’s labeled as an aggressive dog. That makes me sad. He’s far from aggressive. I’m thinking it was more of a trust issue and a lot of changes in a 24-hour period.
This also means taking him to the groomers for a bath heightens my anxiety. We haven’t done it yet but that’s ok because we found a neighborhood pet store, Pet Valu that has the greatest dog wash station in the back of their store.
I consider Pet Valu more of a boutique pet store. You won’t find animals for sale for one thing. Stay out of those places. BUT ours did have cats from the local no-kill animal shelter that were up for adoption. The cats didn’t like Sam.
Pet Valu seems to have a different approach to pets. They seem that as part of the family not just animals we’ve brought into the home. The selection of toys, food, care items and toys are a higher quality than what I find in other stores.
The dog wash center was amazing. We found 3 clean, large, tiled tubs with sprayers, towels and toiletries are available to whoever wants to bathe their own dogs. Sam is a 70lb lab mix. Bathing him in our home isn’t fun. These tubs were off the ground so the process was so easy. He was relaxed and let Rob do the washing, rinsing and drying with no problems. All of this for just $10. They provide the water, shampoo, towels and dryers. You have to supply your own comb or brush. We even borrowed a rubber apron to keep kinda dry.
Imagine taking your dogs to the local park and they jump into the pond. They smell terrible afterwards. Take your dog directly to Pet Valu for a bath.
Check out your own Pet Valu to see if this service is available to you.
This is really convenient! I will have to see if ours offers it!
We need a place like that near us here in Boston. Going to the groomer is such a chore for us.
This looks like such a cool idea. One of our dogs needs a bath, but it would be impossible to give her one in our tub. Taking her somewhere that had a DIY dog wash would be perfect.
I love that last picture of your dog! It is too cute! I love that they have a DIY dog wash. I wish we had one of these around here.
This is a great idea. It’s really difficult to bathe a dog at home. AND it can be a huge, wet mess.
I love this! Whenever we bathe our dog, it ends up being a soggy mess in the bathroom.
This is a great dog washing station. It looks nicer that my shower!
Well that is handy! And you’re right, dogs can get into some very stinky situations. 😉
That is very cool! Your dog looks like he is sooo happy to be getting a bath! So cute!
Wow, what a bargain on the dog washing station! I hope Sam recovers from whatever scared him.
I wish we had one of these near us. It’s hard giving our large dog a bath in our tub. This would solve that problem.
I love this idea for dog bathing! Our dog is small so it’s works well to bathe him here but this is a great option for larger dogs.
This such an awesome idea. If we had one of these near us, I would take my dog here!
how FUN for pooches! well, maybe not always fun!? LOL
That is such a fun service! My dogs totally could use a bath.
Ok, we need that around here. My pug HATES having a bath … totally hates it. She pouts and snorts and it’s impossible to do by myself, with this type of setup though, it would be A LOT easier! I love it so much, there are so many options out there for pet owners these days!
So handy to have a place like that around the corner! No coming home with yucky dog!
How convenient is that to have them all cleaned up when they go a little puddle happy? He looks so cute getting a bath. 🙂
That is a nice little area for washing the dogs. Very nice
We have a few groomers around here that are very reasonable. We also have a few car washes that have doggy service stations. They are great, but suck in the winter. This is awesome for only $10! I’m in MI so the closest one to me is in Sarnia, ON, Canada.
So nice to have an area where they can clean up! And yay for getting a family member back!
Wow – I’ve never heard of this before. Sounds like an interesting way to get your dog washed.
I so need that! I have a lab and a little dog and with two to bathe well you know how difficult that can be.
This is great! This makes getting your pooch nice and clean super easy!
King loves the dog wash. He especially likes the treat machine!
We used to go to a place that offered DIY dog washing. It seemed like a great idea to keep your home from being covered in water. LOL!
I will keep them in mind, I don’t have any fur babies right now. I haven’t had been able to get another one since my last dog was shot, but I know I will open my heart and home to another one soon!
We need to take our dog to place like this. No mess at the our house!!!
That sounds good. Will have to check it out.
