When step parents get too involved

The only way to ensure that you and your step-child are able to maintain a healthy relationship is by respecting boundaries. Set limits on what you will be involved in, such as finances or discipline, so they know where the line is drawn between family members and friends. If it feels like too much for either of you, don’t hesitate to seek professional help through counseling or therapy. Remember that when step parents get too involved with their partner’s children without setting clear boundaries beforehand, there can be many negative consequences from both sides of the equation!
