SAFESKIN Antibacterial Gel Keeps Kids Safe plus Walgreens #giveaway

A simple scrape or scratch can turn into so much more with the threat of MRSA lurking behind every corner. Daycare centers, gyms, playgrounds and classrooms are breeding grounds for germs and bacteria. These are the places our children visit on a regular basis so we have to keep them safe.

SAFESKIN* Kids Antibacterial Gel is the first of its kind in a topical prevention to MRSA. MRSA is a highly contagious and antibiotic-resistant staph bacterial infection that affects many children. It is contracted from skin to skin contact and can present as sores on the body.

Shaun has recently started football practice. Each day him and 25 other kids are barreling over each other in insect riddled grass for 3 hours. He comes home each day sore, tired, sweaty and often scratched up. I’ve worried about things like athletes foot and ticks but what about MRSA. What if he’s up against someone else who is carrying the bacteria. How should I be protecting him?

A few months back I burned myself doing a simple craft. It was a small wound but one that came with lots of pain and a long healing process. I worried about the scarring and possiblity of infection. I was prescribed a pricey ointment. SAFESKIN* Kids Antibacterial Gel is an inexpensive, antibiotic free, easy to apply gel than can get tossed in his equipment bag and used whenever he comes off the field banged and bruised. SAFESKIN* Kids Antibacterial Gel is a long lasting protective barrier on burns, cuts, scrapes and bug bites. School starts in just a few weeks, I can have this handy for when they come home complaining of the newest battle scar from the playground.

Buy SAFESKIN* Kids Antibacterial Gel from select Walgreens stores.  Click the coupon below for a special $1.00 off the already low price.

Mohawk Home Rug Recap

Our living room is where we spend 95% of our time watching TV, blogging, playing games and relaxing as a family. Making it feel warm and inviting is key especially since we spend so much time in this room and recently we got a new 5×8 Mohawk Home Select Versailles Skyways Blue Rug for analysis and love how it totally transformed our living room.

We had a really nice 5×8 area rug for two years that one of the dogs ruined and we went without one in the living room for about three to four months because I didn’t want them to ruin another rug. You would be surprised how much an area rug changes the look and feel of a room but thankfully we are back in business thanks to Mohawk Home. Even though we have new furniture throughout the living room and nice pictures on the walls until about three weeks ago the room wasn’t complete and felt naked but now it’s complete and looks terrific at the same time.

versailes mohawk rug

The one thing that I recently learned about Mohawk rugs that I think is pretty cool is they are still made is the USA and in this day and age that is awesome because it’s getting harder and harder to find products that are still made in the USA. Mohawk Home is the largest manufacturer of area rugs, indoor and outdoor mats, and washable rugs in the US. So not only did we get an awesome quality rug but we also supported a US based company which feels really good.

Overall Melinda and I are extremely happy with our new rug and glad we were able to give our living room that homey feeling that is was missing for the last few months.

Do you have a room in your home that could use a new rug? If so you are in luck because one lucky reader will have the chance to win a new 5X8 Mohawk Home rug (under $400). All you need to do is go to Mohawk Home and tell me something that I didn’t mention in this article.

Destination Vacation with CityPASS Giveaway

There have been lots of changes the way families vacation lately. While 2 weeks in Hawaii sounds like heaven there are so many things to do when you take a city destination getaway. Visiting local museums, historic sites and becoming a hometown tourist is a great way to discover new town or rediscover the streets you see everyday.

CityPASS is the way to go when you want to explore a city’s top attractions.

Launched in 1997 in Seattle and San Francisco, CityPASS bundles prepaid admission to each city’s top attractions – based on annual attendance – into one easy-to-use ticket booklet whose cost is up to half off what it would cost to purchase those same admissions separately.

While CityPASS isn’t availble everywhere you will hopefully find it in a major city near you or one you can plan to visit. Right now CityPASS can be found in these top North American destinations; Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hollywood, Houston, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Southern California and Toronto.

My family is planning a fall trip to Philadelphia. Never mind that we are in Philly a couple times a month, that’s not the point. We haven’t seen much of what the city has to offer. Shae’s never been to the Philly Zoo which is also America’s First Zoo. We are planning our trip as a mini staycation, a long weekend when the weather is more pleasant. We have 6 attractions to visit on our coupon book. Think we can squeeze them in on a long weekend?

TinyLove 3-in-1 Rocker-Napper Evulation

With baby boy on his way in just a few weeks I’m really starting to gear up and get the things we need for him. However, adding another person and all his baby stuff in our already cramped house is starting to pose some problems. So whenever I can find something that has more than one purpose and will grow with him, I jump at it.

That’s why I was so excited to see the 3-in-1 Rocker-Napper from TinyLove. It’s a rocker, bassinet/napper and a versatile seat all in one. Set up was quite easy. It took me about 1/2 hour from start to finish. The directions come in almost every language and had diagrams and written instructions for every step. There is also a short video explaining how to assemble at on TinyLove’s website. The only thing you need is a phillips head screwdriver, 3 AAA batteries and 1 C battery. The Rocker/Napper adjusts very easily with one hand between all 3 seat position, which will be very helpfulwhen your holding a baby and trying to adjust the rocker in a different position before putting him down.

It also has a toy arm which has lights and toys attached and plays music and sounds to help soothe or entertain baby with adjustable volume. The rocker vibrates as well throughout the entire seat to help calm any fussy baby. However, it only has one setting on the vibrations. I think it would be nice to have at least 2 setting to be able to adjust the speed of vibrating. I think what I’m most excited about is having a nice comfy bassinet for the baby to sleep in and not taking up half the room that a traditional bassinet would do. I know he is definitely going to get a lot of use out of this rocker since he can use it until he’s up to 40 lbs. There will be a lot of rocking, napping and quick feedings once he starts sitting up in this very versatile rocker/napper/seat.

Tiny Love is giving a LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! reader their own 3-in-1 Rocker Napper ($100 value).  Visit Tiny Love and choose another product that you would love to have for a baby you know.

Capturing Memories with Sam’s Club Giveaway

With Summer comes lots of events and activities and as a busy family we sometimes have a hard time to keeping up. One way we make sure to capture all of the fun is taking pictures. Between our phones, gadgets and cameras we’ve been known to take hundreds of shots. Sometimes this doesn’t work with a huge DSLR camera, there are moments when size does matter.

For these moments we are using our new Olympus TG-320 digital point and shoot camera. This compact device packs a huge punch for it’s little size.

  • 14 Megapixels
  • 3.6 optical Zoom
  • Waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof
  • 720HD Video

This is one of Rob’s Father’s Day Gifts that was featured on our Gift Guide. We’ve been using it at the pool and the beach and even around the house. It’s small enough that Shae can handle and the fact that it’s shockproof makes me Ok with her carrying it around.

Here’s sampling of photos taken with the Olympus TG-320.

I love that it not only came with it’s own floatation device but also a neoprene type cover with a carbineer to attach to the pool bag, handbag or even a belt loop. I’ve been impressed with the quality so far since I’m not a fan of point and shoot cameras. I especially love that it’s rechargable. No batteries to keep on hand and worry if you have the right size and style on hand.

This is a great gift not just for mom and dad but for young adults due to it’s heavy duty construction. Find this great gadget at Sam’s Club for $179. Start shopping now and enter to win a $25 Sam’s Club GC. Visit Sam’s Club online and let me know one thing that you would spend your $25 on.

ROKU 2 XS Streaming Player Giveaway

In our bedroom we have a really old television that I won when I was still working over 12 years ago. It’s a 32 inch television and it gets the job done. We only use it really at bed time or when the kids are sick they like to stay in our bed all day and watch TV. The only real problem is that it has none of the conveniences of today’s technology. There’s no inputs for internet connection so we can’t watch our Netflix’s account.

When I heard of the ROKU 2 XS Streaming Player I was a little skeptical that it would even work on such an old television. However, the box clearly states that it “works with virtually any TV.” I also assumed that it was going to be well out of my comfort zone to hook up. I’m not completely technologically illiterate, I usually can figure most things out after a while, but I really thought this was going to be way out of my league. That definitely wasn’t the case here, all that was in the box was the ROKU player, remote control, A/V cable and a power adapter. Since we don’t have any input outlets on the TV because it’s so old but we do have a dvd player hooked up to the TV, I just plugged the A/V cable into the dvd player. Then, I plug the power adapter into the outlet and that was it. I turned the TV on and after about 5 minutes of registering the ROKU and connected it our wireless router it was up and running.

Now we can access Netflix, we can listen to Pandora, and the kids can play Angry Birds all day long. There are also hundreds of applications that you can add, such as news channels, Hulu Plus, HBO GO, Crackle and Disney Channel. Some apps are free while others do charge a fee. Now the girls can’t wait to be home sick from school now. Their options are limitless now since they love Netflix’s and could play Angry Birds all from the comforts of a bed.

Roku is giving a LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! reader a Roku 2 XS (value $99.99). Let me know what channel you’d be most excited to watch.
