The Harlem Globetrotters are back in town plus giveaway

Every year around the same time (Rob’s birthday) the Harlem Globetrotters some to town. Every year Rob mentions he wants to go. Last year we had the opportunity to go to a couple games and it was tons of fun. The show is energetic, comedic and pure family fun.
Besides being athletes and goofs they are also stand-up members of society, constantly giving back to communities in need. The CHEER program was designed the program with assistance from the U.S. Department of Education. While there are several different character traits emphasized by various programs across the country, the Globetrotters’ program focuses on Cooperation, Healthy mind & body, Effort, Enthusiasm, and Responsibility.
The program targets 6-12 year-old students and involves Globetrotter players incorporating their signature ball handling skills with a “C.H.E.E.R.”™ basketball. The basketball includes each of the character traits printed on the outside of the ball and is used as a key tool during the presentation to each school. Globetrotter players encourage students to match their actions with those five character traits in all their life experiences with parents, teachers and one another.
Get to know the Harlem Globetrotters better by attending a performance in your area and using code MOM for a $7 discount. For those in the Philadelphia & South Jersey area catch up on the fun.

GummyLump Crafts for Kids plus Easel Giveaway

It may be cold outside but that doesn’t mean it can’t be tons of fun inside. Join me and GummyLump as we work on 300 Crafts for Kids in 2011. Throughout 2011 GummyLump will post fun, creative, preschool suitable crafts that any family can do at home. With the collection of standard supplies, some specialty items such as foam stickers and pipe cleaners you and your child will be able to whip up adorable creations to keep or give as special gifts to family and friends.

The other day Shae and I chose to do a Favorite Things banner. This was a variation on Project #10 “Things I Like” craft. I taped 2 large scrapbook pieces of paper, titled it Shae’s favorite things and we drew and pasted pictures of things like her brother and sister, a pink flower and Scooby Doo movies and games. I could’ve made this project as big as her bedroom wall but we contained it to something smaller that she can show off to everyone that comes over.

Crafting and imagination play is key for kids development. Growing up we I remember being occupied with books, crayons, dolls and blocks; I make sure my kids get to enjoy the simple facets of play so they aren’t consumed with technology and electronics.

Get your kids imaginations and fingers working with some of the crafts listed on GummyLump. If you accomplish any of the crafts listed and upload a picture of your finished project on GummyLump’s Facebook Page you’ll automatically be entered to win their weekly giveaway of Kids Art Supplies. Please note that all crafts show modifications to suit children with special needs, no one is left out!

LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers are eligible for their own giveaway too! Enter to win a Melissa and Doug Wooden Floor Easel.  Tell me a craft you’d like to try out or that has been a favorite with your children.

The Red Monster with a Green Thumb comes to Philadelphia

The weather forecast might be cold and dreary in Philadelphia but on Sesame Street it’s always sunny. Join Elmo and all his friends when Sesame Street Live’s Elmo’s Green Thumb comes to the Liacouras Center March 12-14th.

Elmo has raised his sunflower, Sunny, from a seed, but his floral friend has outgrown the flower pot. Elmo and friends find Big Bird’s garden the ideal place for Sunny to flourish and grow but they are too excited to wait. Rather than let Sunny follow nature’s course, Abby Cadabby, Sesame Street’s fairy-in-training, casts a spell to make Sunny grow. The spell does just the opposite and, instead of growing, Elmo and all of his friends shrink! While Abby searches for just the right words to reverse the spell, Elmo, Zoe, Telly and friends explore Big Bird’s garden from a smaller perspective and learn some big lessons about patience, overcoming their fears and appreciating the role that each creature plays in our ecosystem – from dancing ladybugs and beautiful butterflies to grouchy beetles that scavenge the garden floor. Will being small help Sunny grow tall? It’s a fresh, original Sesame Street Live on a whole new scale!

Old Navy’s IN STORE Kids & Baby Sale + $25 GC Giveaway

Who doesn’t love sales?  Better yet who doesn’t love sales that involve clothes?  If you are one of those people then you need to be sure to check out Old Navy’s IN STORE Kids & Baby sale where items will start at only $5 from February 4th until February 17th.

I am particularly excited about Old Navy’s upcoming Kids and Baby sale as we have a friend whose baby shower is next month and I expect Melinda to go crazy.  With items starting at $5 we’ll be certain to get a bigger bang for our buck.  I can remember when Shaun and  Shae were babies and going to Old Navy to get super cute clothing and cute pj’s.

I’m going to be honest and tell you I really like Old Navy and Melinda LOVES Old Navy.  We shop at Old Navy so much we now have an Old Navy credit card because we wanted to receive additional coupons plus a ton of other benefits that are only offered to card holders.  We shop at Old Navy for a few reasons like price, selection and quality.  Having three kids means we go clothes shopping often so I want to make sure I get great clothes for a great price that I can be sure are going to hold up to the everyday activities of my children.  Shaun tends to be rough on his clothes and over the years have found that clothes from Old Navy stand up to his abuse.

Another thing I love about Old Navy is there cute kids clothing.  I like to dress Shaun and Shae is cloths that are cute and cool and I find Old Navy has the best selection of clothing like this.  A lot of other stores we shop at don’t offer the selection of cute and cool that we are usually looking for.

Our family has shopped at a lot of different clothing stores over the years but we find our go to store is Old Navy!

Definitely make sure you check out Old Navy’s IN STORE Kids & Baby sale where items will start at only $5 from February 4th until February 17th

Plus, get an extra 25% off with THIS coupon. Quite the deal, right?

Would you like a $25 Old Navy Gift Card of your own? One lucky Look What Mom Found…and Dad too! reader will have a chance to win one. All you need to do is head over to Old Navy and tell me what outfit you would love to purchase with your $25 Gift Card for you child’s next play date.
