Way Overpriced

I was reading an article on MSN Money today about 6 outrageously overpriced products.  Here is a list of the 6 items:

  1. Movie Popcorn
  2. Greeting Cards
  3. College Textbooks
  4. Bottled Water
  5. Printer Ink
  6. Brand Name Fashion

This list made me instantly laugh because Melinda LOVES movie popcorn. We can’t go to the movies without her getting popcorn. It doesn’t matter if we just ate dinner she still gets it. I think the butter or salt or something is made of crack. Not to mention a small bag costs somewhere around $5. For that you can get 3 to 4 bags at the grocery store.  Movie popcorn seems to be so addicting that people can’t pass it by. Thank goodness I am not a fan of popcorn.

The other thing on this list was bottled water. My father in law only drinks bottled water. He even has a filter on the sink and if I use it he tells me to drink bottled water because it is cheaper then replacing the sink filter. We typically do not buy bottled water unless we are going to an amusement park or having a party at the house. Other than the price the other thing that KILLS me is the waster from all of the bottles. Thank goodness for recycling and Zuvo.

I can agree with the other things on the list but the two above are what I have a lot of exposure to.

Do you agree with the 6 items above? Can you think of other items you buy that are overly priced but regardless you can’t be without?
