About 6 months ago my husband and I got some news that we really weren’t expecting at this point in our lives. We are the happy and proud parents of two very independent and self-sufficient girls, ages 10 and 8. We had fallen into this less demanding world which no longer revolved around taking care of the every little need of a child. It was nice to be able to come and go as we please without having to pack a car full of items for the girls. At our ages, I’m 37 and my husband is 40, we … [Read more...]
Guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Arlington Cemetery
In honor of Memorial Day I thought I'd share a few things about the Soldiers that guard The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. If you've never been to Arlington National Cemetery before it really is an extraordinary site to see. I realize it's not the most glamourous place to visit but it a beautiful and majestic site to experience for people of all ages. The soldiers that guard the tomb are called Sentinels The Tomb of the Unknowns is Arlington's most popular … [Read more...]
What I Learned from Bloggy Boot Camp Philadelphia
Something happened with this Bloggy Boot Camp. I walked away with ideas and inspiration and didn’t just talk about making changes but instantly put a couple in place. Blog conferences as a whole are supposed to educate the attendees on not just blog basics but how to run it like a business, increase traffic, put out quality content and engage your readers and fellow bloggers. Bloggy Boot Camp Baltimore was a different feeling for me. Two years ago the sentiment felt “Every man for themself”, … [Read more...]
Being Mr Mom Was Hard
This weekend was busy to say the least and I am not sure how single moms and dads do it. I was without Melinda for less than 24 hours and it feel like I was going to die (maybe a slight exaggeration). Melinda was at Bloggy Bootcamp in Philadelphia Friday night and Saturday which left me alone with the kids. I want everyone to understand that I am not complaining that she went I just want to explain how busy it was without her. Usually we will do a divide and conquer but I was solo on … [Read more...]

On to Week 2
Week 1 down and I'm kicking ass. Well that's what I told myself last night. I have a habit of quitting when it comes to exercise and weight loss. If it isn't easy than I'm done before I've even gotten a chance to see a huge change. BUT this week is starting better. I finished the entire day's program. I started off strong, that's probably my problem. Usually by the 20 minute mark I start to get some pain in my ankle calves I kept going whether it was walking or running. I'm not one to keep … [Read more...]
TShirt Tote Bag #ExpressYourself #CBias
I was recently asked to come up with a craft for the #ExpressYourself campaign using Elmers Painters Paint Markers and fabric. The fabric part got me stumped. I thought I’d make Shae a cute shirt, draw a flower or fun saying on it but what’s so original and creative about that. Then it hit me, go DIY with it. I stood in the middle of my living room at a pile of laundry and I got the idea of making a t-shirt tote bag. I’ve seen tutorials before and figured this would be easy. I got the kids in … [Read more...]
When Table Manners Go Wrong
We’ve always been sticklers for table manners. We usually eat together as a family and wait for everyone to be home unless there are extraordinary circumstances. We use please and thank you when asking for things across the table and we try to stay seated until everyone is done. One thing that I really enforce is waiting till everyone is seated before we start eating. This means no picking at your plate and grabbing bites as we take plates over. Mistakes happen but as a whole we are pretty … [Read more...]
Courtesy Flush – Do You Know What It Means
I have been thinking about writing this post for a while and for some reason was holding back but after another incident that happened over the weekend I need to get this out. Why do my kids not know the meaning of a courtesy flush? Let me explain but I must warn you this may get a little graphic. To me the meaning of a courtesy flush is while you are going #2 in a public restroom, while at work, at families or even a friends you give a flush after #2 but before you wipe. Now depending on how … [Read more...]
