If you’ve got a redecorating job on your hands and just can’t decide on the perfect color scheme, a car crazy creation might be the perfect option. Redecorating a child’s bedroom can be a challenge, but when it comes to car themes, there are so many design options to choose from. This guide from PassSmart will help you make the most of the space you have to work with, and will give you some fantastic ideas for your budding racing drivers!

Planning makes perfect

If you’re going to create the perfect car themed bedroom then you’re going to have to plan! Make sure you do it properly by planning the layout and color scheme before getting the paint brushes and wallpaper paste out. Shop around for car-themed wallpaper or choose a color scheme which will work well with the speedy theme. Black and white is good for a racing theme whilst red works well for kids who love Disney’s Cars!

Wall stickers

If you decide not to go with wallpaper, wall stickers are a great, less permanent and more affordable option. Available to buy online and in home stores, car-themed wall stickers can transform a room, and you won’t have to commit to keeping them forever.

The centre piece

There’s no use creating a car-themed bedroom if you’re not going to include the most important thing in the room: the bed! There’s nothing that will get your car crazy tot more excited than his very own Ferrari to sleep in at night, so take a look at what’s on offer. Car beds don’t have to cost you a fortune. In fact, there are a number of different designs available, some costing even less than a regular, boring bed!

You could always, of course, go DIY and make your own car bed by creating some makeshift tyres to place at the sides. There are lots of guides online to help you get inventive when doing this.

Make it personal

It’s their bedroom so it’s only fair that they can put their stamp on it. Why buy or make them a personalized sign to hang on the wall or above their bed. It could be ‘Tom’s Track’, ‘Tom’s Speedway’ or something else! The beauty of creating a personalized bedroom is that you know exactly what they’ll love!

Make sure you don’t forget small touches like cushions, lamps and bedspreads. Although you’re making it into the perfect pitstop, they’ll need it to be a relaxing and comfy space to sleep in too.

Don’t forget the toys!

No kids car room is complete without car toys! Depending on what age they are, you could get them their very own scalextric or collectible set of toy cars. You could buy a couple to start off their collection, and then they can add to it for years to come.

  1. Melissa says:

Great post. I find it hard to pull together my kids rooms. I have seen some stickers at local home improvement stores that look great. I’m not sure how they will look when you put it all together. I guess well see.

  2. I also think you need to let the kids have a say in how you decorate their room. Otherwise, it’s not REALLY their space. I need to think about letting the kids redecorate their rooms soon. They are looking a little “baby-ish.”

  3. So hard to decorate a kids room in a theme, I think. I feel like as soon as I commit, they want something else! Bravo to the parents willing to do it though!
