How to Fix a Steam Turbine in 5 Easy Steps

Steam turbines are one of the most important pieces of machinery in any power plant. As such, turbines need to be well-maintained in order to maintain optimum efficiency and performance levels. This article will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to diagnose and fix turbine problems before they cause irreparable damage that can lead to your turbine getting shut down for repair or replacement.

What is a Steam Turbine?

A steam turbine is a mechanical device that converts thermal energy from pressurized steam into rotational energy. Steam turbines are used in a variety of applications, including power generation, ships and locomotives, and industrial process plants.

Steam turbines work by harnessing the energy in steam to drive a rotor. The rotor is connected to a shaft that transmits the rotational energy to a generator, which converts it into electricity.

Pressurized steam is produced by boilers, which use fuel (such as coal, natural gas, or nuclear fuel) to heat water until it reaches its boiling point. The pressurized steam is then fed into the turbine, where it expands and drives the rotor.

The expansion of the steam causes the rotor to rotate at high speeds (up to several thousand revolutions per minute). The rotational energy is transmitted to the generator via the shaft, where it is converted into electricity.

If your steam turbine has broken down, the first step is to call a technician from AlliedPG for repairing steam turbine engine. The technician will assess the situation and determine what needs to be done to fix the steam turbine. In some cases, the turbine can be repaired on-site. In other cases, the turbine may need to be sent to a repair facility. Either way, the technician will have the knowledge and experience to get your turbine up and running again.

What is a Steam Turbine Used For?

A steam turbine is a device that converts the thermal energy of steam into mechanical energy. Steam turbines are used in a variety of settings, including power plants, ships, and locomotives.

While they vary in size and design, all steam turbines work by using the pressure of steam to turn a wheel or turbine. The turbine then turns an electric generator, which produces electricity.

Steam turbines are highly efficient and can operate for long periods of time with little maintenance. However, they can be expensive to repair if they break down.

How Do You Repair a Steam Turbine?

If your steam turbine has broken down, don’t despair! With a little know-how and the right tools, you can repair it yourself in no time. Here’s what you need to do:

First, identify the problem. Is the turbine not spinning? Or are there other issues? Once you know what’s wrong, you can start troubleshooting.

If the turbine isn’t spinning, the first thing to check is the power supply. Make sure that the turbine is properly plugged in and receiving power. If it is, then the next step is to check the bearings. If they’re worn out or damaged, they’ll need to be replaced.

Once you’ve replaced the bearings, spin the turbine by hand to make sure everything is working properly. If it is, then reconnect it to the power supply and turn it on. The turbine should now be up and running again!

Step 1: Remove the Combustion Chamber Valve

  1. Remove the combustion chamber valve.
  2. Inspect the valve for any damage or debris.
  3. If the valve is damaged, replace it with a new one.
  4. If the valve is not damaged, clean it with a brush and reinstall it.

Step 2: Disconnect and Remove the Flue Gas Condenser Connector

  1. Disconnect the flue gas condenser connector from the turbine.
  2. Remove the flue gas condenser connector from the turbine.
  3. Take out the bolts that hold the flue gas condenser connector in place.
  4. Lift the flue gas condenser connector off of the turbine.

Step 3: Dismantle the Combustion Chamber Assembly

In order to fix a steam turbine, the first thing you need to do is dismantle the combustion chamber assembly. This can be a tricky process, but it’s important to make sure that you do it correctly in order to avoid any further damage to the turbine. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. First, remove the bolts that hold the combustion chamber in place. Be careful not to lose any of the bolts, as they can be difficult to replace.
  2. Once the bolts are removed, carefully lift the combustion chamber off of the turbine.
  3. Inspect the inside of the combustion chamber for any damage or debris. If you see anything that looks out of place, it’s best to consult with a professional before continuing.
  4. Once you’re satisfied that everything looks good, begin reassembling the combustion chamber by replacing the bolts you removed earlier. Make sure that they’re tightened securely so that there’s no risk of leaks.
  5. Finally, replace the cover on the combustion chamber and secure it in place.

Step 4: Clean and Check the Flue Gas Condenser

Assuming that you have already completed the first three steps in this guide, it is now time to clean and check the flue gas condenser. This is an important step in the process of fixing a steam turbine, as a clean and well-functioning condenser is necessary for the turbine to operate efficiently.

To clean the condenser, start by removing any debris or build-up that may be present on the inside surfaces. Use a soft brush or cloth to avoid damaging the delicate equipment. Once the interior surfaces are clean, rinse them with fresh water to remove any residual dirt or grime.

Next, inspect the condenser for any signs of damage or wear and tear. If any damage is found, it will need to be repaired or replaced before the turbine can be used again. Once you have confirmed that the condenser is in good working order, reassemble it and reconnect it to the turbine.

Step 5: Cleaning

If your steam turbine is not working properly, it is important to clean it before attempting any repairs. Begin by shutting down the turbine and allowing it to cool. Once it is cool, remove any debris or dirt that may be blocking the blades or other parts of the turbine. You can use a soft brush or cloth to gently remove any build-up.

Next, check the bearings and other moving parts for wear and tear. If any parts are damaged, they will need to be replaced. Once you have inspected all of the parts, you can begin cleaning the turbine.

Start by rinsing off the outside of the turbine with clean water. Then, using a mild soap or detergent, clean all of the areas that you removed debris from earlier. Be sure to rinse away all of the soap before continuing.

Now it is time to clean the inside of the turbine. First, remove any rust that may have built up inside by scrubbing it with a wire brush or sandpaper. Next, use a high-pressure hose to blast away any remaining dirt or debris. Finally, rinse out the interior thoroughly with clean water until no soap residue remains.

By following these simple steps, you can easily clean your steam turbine and get it back up and running smoothly again.

The Stained Floor Designs for a Cozy Home

You don’t have to look further if you want a unique floor or patio finish. With stains, you can give both new and old concrete a rich design that will last for years.

There are many different colors of stains to choose from, and they can be decorated with saw cuts and stencils, among other things. Use the ideas below to find out what’s possible with stained concrete in Orlando.

How To Prepare For Concrete Staining

The following are simple ways to add dimension and texture to an otherwise blank slate. They are both excellent options for newly cut slabs and older ones.

Scoring

Scoring, also known as saw cutting, is a form of ornamentation that can be used indoors and out to create various looks. Consider a decorative concrete overlay if you have unsightly cracks or areas where the concrete is chipping or flaking.

Lines are cut into the concrete, which is permanent unless covered with commercial concrete sealers. Scoring and colored or stained concrete are often used to highlight surface patterns.

Stamping

At any point in a floor’s existence, concrete can be scored. Only freshly poured concrete is suitable for stamping.

You can still improve your patio by adding a stamped pattern or texture, but it will take more work. Adding a layer of concrete or overlay mixture is necessary if you want to stamp a pattern or texture into an existing concrete pad.

Floor Staining Ideas

Creative stains are a lot like painting in that you have to know which areas will get a particular color and which areas will get the tape to keep them from overlapping.

Marble Concrete Stain

The beauty of marble can be yours at a fraction of the price with the installation of faux marble floors made of concrete. As a bonus, there is a wider variety of color and pattern options for faux marble concrete floors.

Untitled

Grid Pattern Stain

Some examples of grid patterns can add visual interest to concrete without significantly increasing the project cost above.

You could use a design with just one color if you want something straightforward and comprehensive like this or a more elaborate variation on the same theme that features multiple colors.

Picasso Concrete Stain

If you want your design to stand out from the norm, consider incorporating some curves. You can add it with a grid pattern broken by an arch and two concentric circles with radiating lines.

Picasso once said, “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” If you want to achieve this look, you must be able to put in the effort or pay some professional stainers to do it.

Swirly Patterns Concrete Stain

Because of their everlasting allure and charm, floral patterns are an excellent choice for flooring. The refined appearance of the home reflects not only the owner but also their mood.

If you love nature and want to bring it into your home, spirals can make you feel like the most art nouveau enthusiast in your neighborhood.

Spiral or Circle Concrete Stain

You could combine your grids or swirls with some circles if you want your design to be unique and stand out from the crowd. Circles are a great way to do this. You can either do it in a geometric or swirly pattern.

Untitled

Rug Concrete Stains

Do you need a permanent rug? Rug stains are best for you if you do.

It can have grids, swirls, or spiral concrete stains mentioned above. Still, the primary distinction is that a polygon or a circle encloses or shapes the rug details of the concrete stain. Furthermore, like some stains, using stencils can achieve this look.

Because of the rhythm of its details, they produce a rug look that makes the environment feel cozy and luxurious.

Emblem Concrete Stain

Are you a business owner or a fan of a particular merchandise? If you have a company logo you’d like to display on your floors, then the concrete stain is the way to go.

People who love walking and looking at the floor will never forget your logo.

Real Objects Concrete Stain

Do you have a soft spot for anything emblematic? Like the balls in the sports you play? Perhaps you have a kid that loves a toy, or your inner kid is happy to have something, then concrete can carry it for you!

Let It Color Your Mind

Always be bold and design on your floor. You can never go wrong when you have the right people on your side. If necessary, seek professional assistance.

The Importance of Having a Stylish Bathroom

One of the first things people notice when they walk into your home is your bathroom. If it’s messy and has no organization, it gives the impression that you don’t care about how your home looks, and we all know that what people think of you can affect whether or not they want to work with you!

Thankfully, with these tips on how to make your bathroom look good, you can help ensure that no one will see your bathroom as something negative or unprofessional, which can lead to greater success in both business and personal life.

The company https://www.smarterbathrooms.com.au/ offers more than just luxury fixtures and an impressive aesthetic. They are also a fully integrated system, ensuring seamless operation and clean lines. After all, what’s the point in an amazing bath if you can’t work out how to operate the taps? All our shower packages come with overhead mixers made of the highest quality chrome that will last years.

A Luxurious Bathroom will Increase the Value of Your Home

Bathrooms are the most important rooms in a house. If you have a luxurious bathroom, it will increase the value of your home. Therefore, it is important to keep these things in mind while designing your bathroom.

The size of your bathtub should be big enough so that you can fit two people comfortably. If not, then there should be another option available such as an extra toilet or shower stall, which will allow more space for additional guests who may visit at times like birthdays, etc.

Make sure all fixtures match each other well enough so as not to look mismatched when they’re all put together like puzzle pieces on their own without any help from each other (this could lead to problems down the line). For example, if one fixture has black tiles, but others don’t, then those tiles won’t match up well either since black doesn’t go well with white/silver, etc.

A Home isn’t a Home without a Bathroom

A home isn’t a home without a bathroom. It’s not enough to have a nice kitchen and living room; you need somewhere to escape from the rest of your house. Bathrooms are also important because they’re used so often, you’ll use them more than any other room in the house!

So why do we spend so much time in our bathrooms? Well, first things first: it’s because they’re quiet places where we can relax away from distractions and get ready for whatever comes next on our busy days or nights. Bathrooms are also private spaces where we can shut out the rest of the house while still being able to take care of business as needed (or just because).

A Good Bathroom will Create a Good Impression on the Guest

Your bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your home. It’s also a space that will be used by guests more than any other room, so it’s crucial to have a stylish and functional bathroom that makes an impression on them.

Untitled design (19)

A well-designed bathroom can create an air of sophistication while also making sure guests feel comfortable and relaxed when they enter your home. This will help ensure they’ll have a good time at their first impression with you as host or hostess!

To create a stylish bathroom, you’ll need to consider both the design and functionality of the space. Designing a bathroom isn’t just about putting in a nice shower or sink; it’s about creating an ambiance that will make your guests feel comfortable and relaxed during their visit.

Your Bathroom is the Most Used Room in Your House

Your bathroom is the most used room in your house. It’s also the room where you get to relax and unwind, so it should be comfortable and soothing. However, if you’re someone who tends to overthink things, then this can make using the bathroom feel much more like work than relaxation.

So how to get your bathroom looking stylish without spending hours putting together an entire home décor overhaul? By making sure that everything about it feels effortless!

Bathrooms can Make a Statement

Bathrooms can be used to make a statement about your style, taste, and creativity. If you are the type who likes to show off their personality through their bathroom, then you must have a stylish bathroom as well.

Your bathroom can also be used as an opportunity for you to express yourself creatively by creating something new or unique in the space that reflects your style and tastes.

This means that every piece of furniture in the room should be streamlined and simple, with a focus on functionality. This also means that you should use neutral colors throughout your bathroom, nothing too bright or eye-catching.

It’s Good to Have a Bathroom that Makes You Feel Good

The bathroom is the place where you go to relax and reflect. It’s also a place where you should feel at home, whether you’re in the shower or out of it. So if your bathroom doesn’t have some style, then there’s something wrong with it!

Untitled design (20)

You might think that your bathroom needs nothing more than a sink, toilet, and shower stall, but what if there was an option for different designers? What if those options were available in stores near me? That would be awesome!

Bathrooms Can be the Most Important Room in Your House when it Comes to Increasing Their Value

You’re probably not surprised to learn that bathrooms are one of the most used rooms in your home. After all, you spend a lot of time on them!

The bathroom is where guests enter when they visit. They’re also where people first see what you’ve done with their favorite space: replacing old fixtures with new ones or updating the paint job on an old wall.

Bathrooms are expensive renovations because they require structural work and plumbing upgrades (like new tubs). However, these upgrades add value to your house when it comes down to selling, which is why it’s so important for homeowners who want their properties up-to-date and attractive when potential buyers look at them!

Having a Stylish Bathroom is Important and will Provide Benefits for You

Bathrooms are the most used rooms in a home. They’re also the most important rooms when it comes to increasing their value, as well as making a statement about your personality and taste. If you have an ugly bathroom, guests might not feel comfortable staying at your house.

A good bathroom can create a good impression with the guest who comes over for dinner or drinks after work (or before).

A bathroom is a room that needs to be functional, clean, and also aesthetically pleasing. A good bathroom should have an overall clean look as well as provide the proper tools for your daily grooming needs.

Conclusion

In conclusion, a stylish bathroom is one of the most important aspects of your home. It’s not only a place where you can relax and be yourself. It’s also a reflection of who you are as an individual. So whether you have a small bathroom or a larger one, go out there and make it look great! Check out https://www.smarterbathrooms.com.au/ and make your bathroom more stylish.

4 Useful Tips To Help Maintain and Improve Office Pantry Cleanliness

Do you want to create the ultimate workspace for all of your employees? Or are they currently looking for a strategy that can help improve their productivity?

Well, you do not have to think about making grandeur gestures that make your company have to spend a lot of the budget. Doing this simple thing can also help you to achieve those goals. One of the essential things that a company should provide their employees is a clean pantry. It will be great if you can have it stock up with some healthy and ready-to-eat food, so your employee can easily have the supplies for their energy booster. Having home appliances such as microwaves, coffee makers, and refrigerators is also a vital necessity that can add value to the company.

Paying attention to the office pantry means that the company is providing much-needed care and is looking out for the well-being of its staff. The company can benefit from many things by giving a full-stock pantry for their staff. Remember that your employee is the drivewheel of your company’s success. Maintaining their productivity and level of stress, as well as trying to retain them –can be achieved through having a clean and full-stock pantry.

Applying The Standards Of Hygiene Rules

The office pantry is one of the places prone to get dirty and become the nest of dirt and bacteria. Lack of hygiene in the office pantry can harm employee health. You are making them more susceptible to diarrhea, food poisoning, sore throat, and many other illnesses. To prevent this, companies must apply strict hygiene standards which state that everyone who uses the company’s pantry is obliged to comply with the rules.

Always create specific rules, for example, the obligation to wash every utensil that has been used for cooking, never let any utensils neglected in the kitchen sink, and always put the trash where it belongs. Printed these hygiene rules and put them in the most visible area in the pantry –to make sure that everyone who comes to the pantry can see them by themselves.

Here Are Some Useful Tips That You Can Implement in Your Company to Improve The Pantry’s Cleanliness

Managing The Hyginity Of The Pantry

To have a clean and healthy pantry in the office, it is better if you hire an office lady service that can help to make sure that the pantry is clean and spotless all the time. Though you already have cleaning rules that have to be followed by all of the employees –it does not mean that your pantry can be free of dirt. From time to time, the pantry also needs proper cleaning.

Proper cleaning means that it consists of wiping every nook and cranny in the pantry, emptying the trash can, and dusting and mopping the pantry floor. This is something that needs to be done to make sure that there are no splashes of oil, dust, or food residue that stick to the pantry surfaces. Having one individual who is hired for the purpose of maintaining the cleanliness of your office (including the pantry), is important.

Kitchen Equipment Check and Update

The person in charge of the company’s kitchen has the obligation to check if there is any kitchen equipment such as stoves, drains, ovens, or anything –that is no longer suitable for use or in need of repair. When they find out about this problem they need to report this immediately, to ensure that proper maintenance can be carried out.

We don’t want the equipment to be broken even more, and thus need extensive repair. On top of that, if any kitchen equipment or appliances in the pantry is broken –it can affect almost everyone at the office. Thus, making sure that all equipment is ready to use is very important.

Managing Food and Beverage Stock

These consist of two things, first managing the food and beverage that the company provides to the employee. Always make sure when a product is about to run out, the person who has the responsibility to manage the office pantry –can refill it.

All employees have the right to store their own food and beverages in the kitchen. But remind them that they also have to manage their own food. Remind them to always put their name on the container, to avoid any mistakes of people taking food that is not their own.

A clean and healthy pantry is an important factor to have a productive workspace. Thus maintaining it becomes very important. But remember, keeping the pantry clean is not only the responsibility of the company management or the person who was hired for the purpose of cleaning the office. It is also the responsibility of all employees who use the pantry. Follow these instructions above to maintain and improve the cleanliness of your office pantry.

How to Design a Kitchen for a Foodie in Your Family

If you have a foodie in your family, a kitchen is more than a cooking place. It is a place where these culinary connoisseurs can create masterpieces befitting our taste buds. Although not all kitchen designs can suit a professional chef, functionality is an essential thing to consider when designing a foodie’s kitchen.

The reality is that there are a lot of beautiful kitchen designs that can suit a foodie, ranging from custom stainless range hoods, which are as functional as they are beautiful, to double overs and storage space.. It is just a matter of researching and choosing the most appropriate one that suits their needs.

As you go through the list of tips below, it is important to consider crucial factors such as storage space and lighting before making a choice.

Focus on Prepping Space

The prepping space is arguably the most important part of the kitchen. Whether you are a foodie or not, your kitchen needs a perfect prepping space for easier food preparation.

In most cases, you will need a butcher’s block for prepping ingredients, such as onions and garlic. You can mount these butcher’s blocks on the kitchen countertop or purchase a free-standing one that you can move around.

A typical butcher’s block should have shelves and drawers where you can store your cutting and sharpening tools, such as knives and a sharpening stone.

Invest in a Double Oven

Foodies love to cook. With that in mind, they don’t have all day to spend in the kitchen. For that reason, it might be a great idea to include a double oven in your kitchen design if you have a foodie in your family.

A double oven allows them to cook two dishes at the same time. That saves time for the foodies and makes sharing the kitchen much easier. You no longer have to wait for the dinner to finish cooking so that you can start preparing the dessert.

Install Multiple Dishwasher

If you have a foodie in your home, the dishes must always get dirty. In such a case, a single dishwasher might not be enough. Having two ensures one can run while the other one is being loaded.

Without a doubt, two dishwashers can save you a lot of time. However, it is crucial to consider the available space before you make the investment.

Invest in Enough Storage Space

Untitled design (3)

Whether you have a foodie in your family or not, it is essential to have enough storage space in your kitchen. Or, consider buying a kitchen island trolley to add more storage space.  A typical kitchen should be able to accommodate all the things you might need for cooking, from ingredients to cooking and cleaning supplies. When you have a foodie in your home, it might be a great idea to incorporate extra space to minimize the number of visits to the grocery store.

Besides a typical kitchen refrigerator, you can include refrigerated drawers to increase the amount of space available for the storage of kitchen supplies.

Create an Inviting Atmosphere

Your kitchen should have a warm and inviting atmosphere. After all, it is the heart of your home. The kitchen is where you entertain your guests and where your family gathers for meals.

Incorporating a fireplace in your kitchen design can help create a warm and inviting atmosphere. If you don’t have enough space for a fireplace, you can consider installing a stove.

Include a Breakfast Nook

A breakfast nook is a small dining area in the kitchen. It is a great place for the family to gather for quick meals. This can also be a perfect spot for the kids to do their homework while you are preparing dinner.

Consider the Lighting

Ing weight

Lighting is an essential element in any kitchen design. It not only brightens up the space but also sets the mood. For a foodie’s kitchen, it is essential to have enough light to see what you are cooking.

Incorporating natural light in the kitchen design is a great idea. That can be achieved by installing large windows or skylights. If that is not possible, you can consider installing artificial lighting such as pendant lights or track lighting.

Final Thoughts

Unlike a casual cook, a foodie handles food with passion and attention to detail. That’s why a regular kitchen won’t cut it if you have a foodie in your family.

When designing a kitchen for a foodie, it is essential to focus on functionality. The kitchen should have enough space for food preparation and storage. It should also have the right lighting to help the foodie see what they are cooking.

Hopefully, this article has provided a few useful tips to ensure you design the most appropriate kitchen for them

How Your Home Might Be Making You Sick

You might think of your home as the safest place in the world. But it could, in all reality, be a very dangerous place to live. We spend so much time building safe and aesthetically pleasing places for ourselves and our families that we ignore all the hidden hazards we have all around the house. Some of these things are simple, ordinary, seemingly benign household items and/or conditions like air conditioning units, damp walls, or even scented candles. Even hard water can be harmful, which is why products like the Whirlpool water softener are so instrumental towards healthy living. Here’s just a few items that might be making you dangerously sick in your home sweet home.

Mold

If your home is poorly ventilated, it could cause dampness which is not only bad for the house’s structural support, but it can create mold spores that, for some, could prove fatal. Poor ventilation will cause walls to crack and wood to rot. It can spread throughout the house and create mold in all sorts of places you can’t see, like under wallpaper, behind kitchen appliances, all-around bathroom fixtures, on basement walls, and more.

Mold can lead to numerous respiratory problems like allergies and even an immune system that’s so weakened you could die. Says the World Health Organization, damp living conditions are responsible for more than 300 million asthma cases worldwide. If your home is full of mold, don’t try to mitigate the problem on your own. Instead, look into hiring professional mold removal contractors ASAP.

Soiled Bedding

According to MSN.com, you spend nearly a third of your life sleeping. While you sleep, your bedding is exposed to everything from sweat, to dirt, to dust, to lotions, to make-up. The problem is, some people fail to wash their bedding sheets, blankets, and comforters regularly. This can lead to skin irritations and conditions like eczema, allergies, lung infections, and more. It can also attract dust mites which love to consume dead, dry skin. Therefore, it’s recommended that you wash your bedding once every two weeks at a minimum.

Asbestos Contamination

Asbestos was once utilized as a common construction material. Up until the late 1970s, it was used in everyday home finishes like tile flooring, wallboard, ceiling tiles, and insulation. However, in the 1960s, it was found that prolonged exposure to asbestos fibers was one of the leading causes of deadly cancer, mesothelioma. Therefore, if you live in an older home constructed between the years 1920 and 1979, it’s a good idea to have it tested for asbestos presence. Once your home has tested positive, you need to hire a professional asbestos removal contractor to do away with it.

Home Tech

Your home would not be complete without all the modern tech and gadgetry that keeps you entertained and informed. For instance, how often does your entire family touch the TV remotes on any given day? Dozens of times to be sure. Yet rarely do you ever think of cleaning them. Experts state that gadgets like TV remotes, computer keyboards, phones, and more can be tainted with staphylococcus, E.coli, and even COVID-19. Therefore, it’s recommended you clean your household gadgets on a regular basis in order to avoid sickness.

Scented Candles

Scented candles might be nice to look at and smell, but they can be toxic in a word. The petroleum and coal-based ingredient paraffin wax is contained in many scented candles. As you burn them, you are releasing toxic chemicals into your living environment. To make matters worse, the toxic compounds also include crude-oil-derived acetone, a key component of paint stripper. If you still wish to have scented candles around the house, you should look for products made with beeswax or soy. You might pay a little more, but your and your family’s health is worth it.

Bad Air

Polluted air is not something relegated only to major cities like New York and Los Angeles. Air impurities can often pollute your own home and, at the same time, have an adverse effect on your overall health. Tobacco smoke is one obvious pollutant. But others can come from gas-burning appliances that leak gas fumes and air conditioners that contain dirty filters. If your home is suffering from bad air, you might want to invest in an air purifier that can help circulate good air around your home while ridding it of toxic air.

There’s no safer place to be than your home. Or so you might have assumed. But the hidden dangers that surround you in your own house are plentiful and, in some cases, very dangerous to life and limb. It’s a good idea to thoroughly check your home to eliminate as many of these dangers as possible. When it comes to things like mold contamination, asbestos pollution, and gas leaks, you’ll want to hire certified professionals to safely correct them.

More Than Moving Boxes – Creating a Moving House Checklist

Moving house checklist

Did you know that moving house is a very stressful time? There is just so much to do that has to be juggled between work, study, raising kids, pets and all the other responsibilities of life. It’s no wonder that everyone says they hate moving. But it has to be done sometimes – either at the end of a lease or when you’ve just bought a new place. It doesn’t have to be really difficult though – that’s why we’ve prepared a handy and helpful moving house checklist. Just check off these as you go and you’ll be ready to move in no time.

Get Your Boxes Early

There’s nothing worse than scrambling for moving boxes at the last minute. You can buy or hire boxes at plenty of places online or in store. It can pay to have a look on sites like Gumtree or Facebook marketplace too, as people who have just moved are often keen to get rid of their boxes. After you move, you’ll never want to see another brown cardboard box again.

Packing Tape

Boxes are useless without packing tape. Grab some packing tape and a tape gun so your goods and belongings stay safe and secure in their boxes.

Utility Disconnection and Connection

Plan ahead when it comes to connecting your water, gas, phone, power and internet. You don’t want to move into a new place without any of these, especially water, gas and power! When you have your move date locked in get on the phone to all your providers and arrange for a disconnection and the new connection. Also, while you do this it may pay to shop around for a better offer. There are plenty of comparison sites where you can peruse the market. Once you’ve found a great offer contact your current provider, they may be able to match or beat it to keep you as a customer.

Hire Your Removalists…or Truck

Now it’s time to look around for some professional removalists. They’re worth the money, as they’ll do all the heavy lifting for you and they will pop all your furniture exactly where you want it. There’s heaps of good choices but Man with a Van are a great one. They give you a very accurate quote and always try to keep it within time. If you can’t afford removalists then check out hiring a van or truck yourself. This may save you money but you’ll pay for it in other ways because you’re doing all the lifting, shifting and bending and twisting yourself.

Enlist Some Help

Moving house is no small chore, and it may be time to call in some favours. Ask your good friends, family and colleagues and see who is able to help you. You can offer pizza or takeaway as an incentive. Many hands make light work after all. Just know that when it comes their time to move you may be expected to help as well.

To Conclude

Moving house is a stressful time, but breaking it down step by step makes it easy. Grab some boxes, either brand new or from an online marketplace. Don’t forget to buy some tape and a tape gun as well to help you pack. Arrange your utilities for the new property, and shop around for a better offer. Hire local removalist for the heavy lifting, or hire a truck or van if you’re doing it yourself. Finally, ask friends and family to help you out. The whole process will take a few weeks but at the end of it all you’ll be ready to relax in your brand new home.

The Many Steps for a Green Lawn with @HomeDepot #digin

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.
Getting our backyard lawn to a state that we are proud of wasn’t hard but needed the right steps. We listened to the advice of the experts from Home Depot and following maintenance schedules so that we guaranteed ourselves good results.

One month after the first mow, application of fertilizer/feed and using a Flexogen garden hose by Gilmour to water we have the greenest lawn we ever had in this home. It took a few steps with a few products but it was worth it to give us something we want enjoy all summer long.

We started with a cleaned up yard. The kids helped pull weeds and toss rocks out of the grass. The shrubs were trimmed back and the garden beds were cleaned of weeds.

The grass was treated with Scotts Turf Builder 15.97 lb. Fertilizer with Plus 2 Weed Control We had heard some horror stories about this product from people saying it burned their lawn. The research we did found out that they were not applying correctly. We’ve had success in the past so felt confident in applying again.

In fact within days we saw a decrease in weeds and increase in plusher grass. We back up to a large community space that is filled with weeds so keeping them away from our yard takes a couple extra steps. We do some spot treatments using a weed and crabgrass killer. This works great for those mutant dandelions and spaces under the deck stairs or along the fence line. With just 2 applications the changes are incredible.

Another obstacle we have to contend with are the dogs. They are little dogs so their damage isn’t threatening to the entire look and health of the yard. We are filling in the bare spots with an repair seed.

The side yard was its own beast. The shrubs were so overgrown. Right now we have a mix of boxwoods, butterfly bush and peonies and everything has flourished just with a little extra care and nutrient. I’ll be honest and say I don’t spend too much time tending to that part of the house. It’s green when it needs to be, covers the dull concrete wall as people pull up and that’s all I cared about. This year I want flowers and shrubs that impress.

Getting the Yard and Lawn in Better Shape with @HomeDepot #DigIn

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Home Depot. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The shopping trip to Home Depot went well. The associates were helpful in telling us how to prep the yard for green lawn. They talked us through the clean up process before applying our fertilizers and plant food. We had to get rid of the dead branches, mow our grass a little taller and aerate the spots the dogs have packed down for the last few months.

It was a mild winter but the yard wasn’t looking good, the shrubs were overgrown and the garden beds were filled with weeds. I also got lots of advice on how to get our garden beds ready or planting and what would grow best in what spots in the yard.
Home Depot #Digin Cleaning up the WeedsThe next step is to wait for it to come together in a gorgeous green bed of strong healthy grass.

The clean up took a long time. It backbreaking and seemed never ending at some points but the end results are so worth it. Thirteen bags of yard waste in the yard and we are left with a clean canvas. Rob meticulously feed the yard with Scotts Turf Builder Plus 2 Weed Control. This is our sure fire way of getting the grass perfect each time.

The extras we are doing are going to be worth it too. A garden of veggies and a corner of sunflowers and Echinacea will make our yard stand out in the neighborhood. We have prime real estate for showing off our hard work and showing off is what I plan to do.

Stay tuned for the next steps and progress of a weed free lawn.
