HALO Pocket Power Charger Recap

Just a couple of weeks ago I was sent a HALO Pocket Charger. It has a fashionable look and small profile (think tube of mascara) but I was skeptical because there was so much focus on the looks there was no way it was going to perform well. I’m pretty good at keeping my phone charged but my Kindle Fire often dies while I’m reading it. I was headed to football practice and realized that of course my Kindle Fire had no juice so I plugged it into the HALO for the short drive. It gave me enough power to read a few chapters.

All summer I’ve been packing for quick trips to the beach with the kids. The process is simple; I pack clothes and necessities and the kids are in charge of their own personal belongings that they want to bring. This usually is a blanket, pillow, stuffed animal, iPod, gaming device and movies for the car. Shae is my thinker. She not only grabs her iPod but her charger and wall adapter. Shaun on the other hand does NOT and is complaining 20 minutes into a car ride that his iPod is dying. Shae being the nice sister lets him borrow the charger but on our most recent trip I packed those things in the trunk in the bags.

Being the smart mom I am I had Shaun charge his iPod on my HALO because I keep it in my purse. I will admit that the first couple of times I tossed my HALO in my bag I forget crucial items to go along with it. The photo above shows the Kindle being charged with the wrong cable, but it worked.

UMI Shoes Recap

It’s back to school time and that means we are cleaning out closets and drawers and seeing what the kids need in terms of new clothes and shoes.  While I love scouring thrift and consignment shops for clothes I know nothing beats a quality pair of new shoes.

Major League Lacrosse Championship ticket #giveaway

If you are a kinda regular reader here you might know that Shaun played his first season of Lacrosse this past spring. It was a different experience than football last fall. An incredibly positive and energizing experience. No wonder why I was all geeked out when I got the email to attend the Major League Lacrosse Championship later this month.

MLL is comprised of eight teams across the US and Canada. The Boston Cannons, Chesapeake Bayhawks (formerly Baltimore and Washington), New York Lizards (formally Long Island) and Rochester Rattlers are original teams starting in 2001. The Denver Outlaws began play in 2006 as part of the League’s western expansion. The Hamilton Nationals (formerly Toronto) joined MLL in 2009 as the League’s first international team. The Charlotte Hounds and Ohio Machine began play in 2012 as a part of the League’s expansion initiative to have 16 teams in the next decade.

Major League Lacrosse began play in 2001 to capitalize on the growing demand for world-class field lacrosse driven by dramatic growth in the U.S. lacrosse market. The MLL was praised and heralded for its on-field play, regarded as the best ever seen. With a year-on-year attendance increase, Major League Lacrosse has continued to lead the sport of lacrosse into the mainstream of competitive team sports.

We are seeing a growth of popularity in our area and hopefully this will continue as Shaun continues with athletics during his school days.

The Major League Lacrosse Championships are being held in Philadelphia at PPL Park where the Philadelphia Union (soccer) currently play.

The weekend will begin with the semifinals on Saturday, Aug. 24 (1:00pm & 4:00pm), followed by the final on Sunday, Aug. 25 (3:00pm). The event will also feature the MLL Fan Zone an interactive area with fun and games for lacrosse fans of all ages.
