Can I wash my dog with baby shampoo? |

This article will discuss a popular question that comes up when people are confused about whether or not they can use baby shampoo on their dog. The answer to this question is no, you cannot do this because there would be many unseen consequences and it could even cause harm in some cases.,

The “is johnson baby shampoo good for dogs” is a question that many people have been asking. The answer to the question is no, because of the ingredients in Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. The ingredients are not safe for use on pets.

Baby shampoo is the only safe alternative where human shampoo is concerned, unless you use a shampoo specifically formulated for dogs. Shake a spray bottle with 12 cup vinegar, 2 cups warm water, and 14 cup Dawn dish soap. Dish soap should not be used often since it might dry out a dog’s skin. Using your fingers, massage the liquid into a lather all over your dog’s body.

Can I wash my dog with human shampoo in addition to the above? When you’re out of dog shampoo, ordinary shampoo will suffice, but you shouldn’t use it on a daily basis. When you’re ready to tackle the task–with or without your dog’s help–what here’s you should do:

  1. Before giving your dog a bath, brush him. Matted hair traps moisture, causing irritation on your dog’s skin.
  2. Use lukewarm water to clean.
  3. Speak to your pet in a soothing and comforting tone of voice.
  4. Make use of dog shampoo.
  5. Rinse well.
  6. Air-dry.
  7. Reward your canine companion.

Is it true that baby shampoo dries the skin of dogs?

If you just bathe your dog every four to eight weeks, baby shampoo should suffice. Baby shampoo has a little impact on the pH balance. The Pros and Cons of Sleeping With Your Pets

Pets

Your dog or cat may be your best friend and a wonderful companion in and around the house, but you should never let this kind of friendship be the cause of certain health issues around the house. Most people prefer to spend with their feline friends on the same bed, and even though you may see it as a nice way to increase the friendship bond between you, you just don’t know how much it could be costing your sleep.

Some pet owners claim that sleeping with their pets help them to have a wonderful sleep at night, but sharing a bed with pets may not necessarily be a good thing, though a good number of people who do it doesn’t see any problems with it. But let us consider the pros and the cons of sleeping with pets so that you will be well informed should you proceed to go ahead with the practice.

Which pets do people sleep with the most?

Sleep with dog

It seems that cats and dogs are the best companions when it comes to the pets people are will to take to bed. A study conducted on the effects of the sleeping with pets in the bedroom found that most people found it comfortable and also had some sense of security when they slept together with their pets in the same room, but not necessarily on the same bed.

A possible explanation to this kind of feeling is that most of the pet owners are never around the house during the day, and so at night, they find it convenient to spend some time with their pets in the bedroom. Besides, most of them don’t have any problem knowing that with the pets in the bedroom, their sleep won’t be affected in any way.

Potential problems of sleeping with pets on the same bed

In as much you may desire to spend some time with your beloved pet on the high-quality mattress you just got from Tuft & Needle at Lowe’s, here are some of the potential shortcomings you may encounter-:

Allergies –pets are known to cause allergic reactions to different kinds of people, and if you or any member of your family usually suffer allergic reactions, then you should not just share your bed with your pets, but also not allow them into the bedroom. But if you insist that you must sleep with your pet, then it is imperative to arm yourself with regular allergy shots.

The problem of restless pets

Restless pets

– not every cat or dog will get down quietly at night and sleep till morning. Some are very restless and you can expect that they will be jumping, rolling, barking or howling all the time while in the bedroom. If you were truly tired and you were hoping to catch some sleep, then you will find it difficult falling asleep with the presence of such a pet in your bed or inside your bedroom. If your pet exhibits this behavior, the best thing to do is to let them sleep in another room so that your sleep is not interrupted by them anymore.

Damages in the bedroom–other than the pet being restless, they may also exhibit some behavior such as scratching or biting onto surfaces. This is very common with cats and puppies who will want to scratch anything they can find with their paws. If you have such a kind of a pet, then it will be a huge mistake to let them share the bed or the bedroom with you. The kind of damage they can do to your clothes, or the beautiful mattress you just go from Tuft & Needle at Lowe’s may be huge, and you may regret why you let them come so close.

Where should you draw the line?

Sleeping experience with pets

Irrespective of whether your dog or cat is well behaved and you can spend with them on the same bed without them disturbing your sleep, people will always have different experiences sleeping with their pets. Again, if your pet is a bother to your sleeping partner, then you may consider not having them in the bedroom. But you should realize that pets do love it when you set them up to sleep on the orthopedic dog bed, and not somewhere enclosed such as in the bedroom.

How to kick out your pets from your bedroom

It may sound harsh, and nearly impossible for some people to kick out their beloved pets from their bedroom, but there are certain things you can do to make the transition easier for both of you. If you are dealing with a dog you have been allowing to sleep in your bed or in your bedroom for a while, it will be a big blow to its ego should you decide to kick them out of where they have grown to be so fond of. One of the best approaches you can do is create a game for discouraging the dogs from the bed, such as giving them attention only when they are on the floor.

But dealing with cats on this is a little tricky, because, with cats, it is either, “all or nothing.” If you don’t want them to sleep with you in your bed, then don’t even allow them to come into your bedroom. This is because once they form the attachment and get used to sleeping on your bed, this is a habit that will take time to break and it will not make them any happier.

Different solutions for different situations

If you have been sleeping with your pets for some time and you don’t have any problems with that, then you could be sleeping with them if that is what you want. However, if you have been trying to sleep with them and you find that they are making it difficult for you to fall asleep, then the best thing to do would be to kick them out of your bed. I guess the last thing you want is to appear tired and dizzy the following simply because your dog couldn’t let you have rest at night.

Woof! A Happy Pet Family Awaits You

In the imagination of many, there is no happy family without a pet. And it’s no wonder that families crave for a pet: How could one not feel warm inside when you have a friend who is always happy to see you. Pictures of loving dogs and cats playing with their owners have slowly taken over the Internet browsing of any future pet owner. There’s a reason for that: Pets are the guarantee of a smile! If you too are considering adopting a pet, there are a few things that you need to know in advance to keep your cool. Here is a breakdown of the things that will make you laugh as you adopt a pet.

Take It With Humor

Don’t we all dream of a pet that quietly sleeps by your side and keep your warm during winter nights, or comforts you when you are upset? Pets can be all that and much more!  But sometimes they can be a little clumsy too. While it’s part of their charm, you need to know that you can’t leave your pet untrained, as dogs and cats are famous for leaving a path of destruction behind them. Nothing is left untouched from your favorite shoes to the leather couch in the living room! If you have made your research, you will have found out that most pet owners take it with humor and even share their experience online. So join millions of pet owners in taking all pet-related accidents in the house with a smile.

The Vet Is Your Best Friend

First-time dog-owners will tell you about the time Fido put his nose into an ant nest, for example, or when the neighbor’s cat caught a bee in its mouth. You will soon discover that accidents happen, and that they are part of your new life with a pet. Take it easy, you’ll get better with time and you will know how to recognize potentially risky situations before a drama occurs. In the meantime, make friend with your local vet! Additionally, pets also require specific treatments and medications to protect their health, such as for example trifexis for dogs which avoid the formation of heartworm-related diseases. Giving a specific treatment to your pet can be quite challenging: Some hide medical tablets in a generous bowl of food, others try to open their pet’s mouth with their own fingers, finally some even ask neighbors to help. But in the end, they all laugh about that time when the family pet simply wouldn’t have it. You will too!

When Responsibility Becomes Fun

Having a pet means caring for it, and consequently, this means that you will have a number of responsibilities. But not everything has to be dull. Taking your dog for a walk, for example, can be a great bonding experience and a rendez-vous that your dog will be looking forward to daily. Additionally, you will soon discover that some pets love nothing more than rolling on the ground. On rainy days, you will find a giant ball of mud on four legs, so be prepared for it. You can train your dog to be washed with specific dog shampoo. There are also cat shampoos available on the market for cat owners, but very few cats will accept to be wet! Thankfully for dog owners, most dogs like water so as long as you are careful not to put any foam in their eyes, it will be a nice and comfortable experience for the both of you.

DIY Pet Door

As pet owners I’ve always wanted a way for our dogs to let themselves in and out of the house. They love to hang out on the deck and soak up the sun or watch the kids play out back. A pet door would be a great solution.

Some of you might follow me on Instagram and Facebook. If so you’ll see that one of our family members rejoined us. Sam the dog left us 2 years ago and circumstances arose that brought him back. We had a little adjustment period but he slid right back into his spot in our home.

Not much has changed. He loves running, balls, chasing cats and rabbits and cuddling like he’s a lap dog. Unfortunately something happened while he was gone and I don’t feel 100% comfortable with him around strangers. The day after he came home we took him for a check up and he snapped at the Vet and the Assistant. This also meant he’s labeled as an aggressive dog. That makes me sad. He’s far from aggressive. I’m thinking it was more of a trust issue and a lot of changes in a 24-hour period.

This also means taking him to the groomers for a bath heightens my anxiety.  We haven’t done it yet but that’s ok because we found a neighborhood pet store, Pet Valu that has the greatest dog wash station in the back of their store.DIY Dog Wash @PetValu

DIY Dog Wash @PetValu

I consider Pet Valu more of a boutique pet store. You won’t find animals for sale for one thing. Stay out of those places. BUT ours did have cats from the local no-kill animal shelter that were up for adoption. The cats didn’t like Sam.

Pet Valu seems to have a different approach to pets. They seem that as part of the family not just animals we’ve brought into the home. The selection of toys, food, care items and toys are a higher quality than what I find in other stores.

The dog wash center was amazing. We found 3 clean, large, tiled tubs with sprayers, towels and toiletries are available to whoever wants to bathe their own dogs. Sam is a 70lb lab mix. Bathing him in our home isn’t fun.  These tubs were off the ground so the process was so easy.  He was relaxed and let Rob do the washing, rinsing and drying with no problems.  All of this for just $10. They provide the water, shampoo, towels and dryers. You have to supply your own comb or brush. We even borrowed a rubber apron to keep kinda dry.DIY Dog Wash @PetValu

Imagine taking your dogs to the local park and they jump into the pond. They smell terrible afterwards. Take your dog directly to Pet Valu for a bath.

The Kids Want A Pet

So Melinda has been talking about wanting to get a dog or cat for the kids so I emailed the landlord the other day to see if he would allow us to have any pets. I had a funny feeling I already knew what he was going to say but I emailed him anyways in hope for a positive response.

The news wasn’t entirely bad but not entire good either. He told me we would need to pay and additional $25 per month in rent and a deposit of $300. In addition, before me moved out we would need to rent a stream cleaner to shampoo the rugs rather then using the one we currently own. I am not entirely sure why he wants that but I guess since he owns this house I would need to follow his rule or not get an animal. To a point I understand because if I was a landlord I would require the tenant to clean the rugs as well but not sure I would care how they did it as long as it got done. For all I care the tenant could do a carpet steam cleaner hire as long as it was done properly.

Melinda wasn’t very happy to hear about the $25 rent increase just to have a pet. She was ok with the deposit because she knows at the end of our lease we would get that back but the additional rent would not be returned. To a point I understand the deposit because that covers his rental investment but why the additional rent? To me it just seems like our landlord is trying to gain additional income for no reason and for that reason Melinda put her foot down and said we would continue to be pet free.

So for now the kids are going to need to suffer and live without a pet. I am sure one day we will get a pet but at this point in time it isn’t going to happen.
