Healthy Strides from General Mills

What do you eat for breakfast? What about the kids? In our house cereal is King, especially Cheerios and Kix, add some fruit or yogurt and the kids are set for the morning either at school or for play.

General Mills has recently announced that they have committed to reduce the sugar content of some of their most popular ready-to-eat cereals. Ready-to-eat cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and nutrients, such as vitamins A, B6, iron, niacin and zinc, and cereal is a top source of key nutrients in children’s diets. Today’s cereals are more nutritious than ever. Every General Mills Big G cereal contains at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving, and more than 20 General Mills cereals deliver 16 grams or more.

These changes are refreshing since cereal is not only a breakfast staple but also a go-to snack at any time of the day. A bowl of Frosted Cheerios or Reese’s Puffs is a great on the go snack for the car or a walk to the park. Keeping the candy, chips and junk food to a minimum is important to me. Cereal is one of the healthiest breakfast choices you can make. Ready-to-eat cereal has fewer calories than almost any other common breakfast option.  Did you know a bowl of cereal with skim milk has approximately 150 calories versus a bagel with LIGHT cream cheese can have over 300 calories. Start the day off on the right foot with a nutritious meal without compromising on taste.

Try out one of General Mills kid-friendly choices by using this coupon for $1 off 1 box of selected cereals.

Pillsbury Simply…Cookies Recapitulation

Who doesn’t like cookies? I can tell you we DO. Pillsbury brings cookies to our house on a pretty regular basis. Don’t get me wrong I have some fabulous cookie recipes and love to bake but sometimes I crave a good ole’ Pillsbury chocolate chip cookies. Plus the bonus is very little cleanup and cookies are ready so much quicker than when made from scratch.

Pillsbury is our go to for Cresent rolls, Grands biscuits (I prefer flaky) and our Christmas morning tradition, Grand’s cinnamon rolls. We have these every Christmas morning, they bake while we open gifts and the kids munch inbetween wrap ripping. I trust everything we buy from Pillsbury will be delicious and have that home-made feel. With 130 years under their belt they have to be doing something right!

I recently had the opportunity to try Pillsbury new simply…Cookies. YUM! Plus no trans fat, no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.. This means real chocolate, real vanilla, real sugar, real peanut butter and real milk; a real cookie just like I would bake myself. I got my cookies along with a cookie jar (which I’m actually using as a sugar jar) and an awesome heavy duty huge capacity reusable cloth bag.

Print a coupon for $1.25 off simply…Cookies right here! Enjoy them tonight!

My great friends at My Blog Spark have teamed up with Pillsbury to bring a tasty giveaway to LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers. Win a coupon for FREE simply…TM refrigerated cookies as well as a prize pack that includes the cookie jar and really really great canvas grocery tote. Visit Pillsbury and tell me which of the many yummy treats is your family’s favorite.

Trix Swirls Creative Kids Gift Pack Solution

Mornings are hectic and I usually like breakfast to be simple. Honey Nut Cheerios is usually our go to cereal; it’s the one that our kids agree on. We do occasionally get some “fun” cereal for snacking and for treats. I was asked to try out the new Trix Swirls. I figured my kids would enjoy it, I did when I was a kid.

General Mills is one of the world’s largest providers of ready to eat breakfast cereals. Like the rest of their Big G cereal line, Trix is fortied with vitamins and minerals plus made with whole grains. With the addition of milk and fresh fruit or juice it becomes a balanced meal to help get your kids busy day started. New Trix Swirls is a little different than what I was used to growing up. They now combine 2 fruity flavors in each crunchy puff. I was supposed to tell you what my kids thought about the crazy new combinations but the box was empty before I knew it.

Along with the box of Trix Swirls cereal came with a bunch of cool artist supplies (a colorful apron, a set of watercolor pencils, watercolor paints, brushes, a sketchbook, and an art supply box). Sabreena loved the HUGE sketchpad and immediately started drawing with the watercolor pencils at the kitchen table. She the artist of the family so the fun gifts were hers but Shaun is the snacker so he’s probably guilty of dusting off the cereal on his own.
My Blog Spark wants to give 2 LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers Trix Swirls Creative Kid Gift Baskets. Tell me some crazy, funky, gross or funny food combinations you or your kids have tried. Shaun’s latest dinner experiment was mashed potatoes and ketchup; it wasn’t a good outcome.
