Melinda and I will be married 12 years this July and we have a song just like high school teenagers, LOL.  I am not sure if other couples have a song or if we are the only dorks who do but ours is Hanging By A Moment by Lifehouse.  Every time I hear this song it instantly makes me think of Melinda no matter what I am doing.

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, HTC.

I can remember when the song came out back in 2000/2001 and Melinda and I both liking it so much we deemed it “Our Song.” You don’t hear it on the radio as much as you used to but it has been on my playlist since 2001 and is currently on my Windows 8X by HTC playlist.  I listen to it about once a month and I still like it 12 years later just as much as the day I first heard it.

Today I mentioned to Melinda that I was going to be writing a post about a song I share with someone special (meaning her) and she asked if I was writing about sugar booger sugar booger.  That is a hit song that Shae and I are working on and the only line we have so far is sugar booger sugar booger what do you taste like.  It’s more of a spoken song to the tune of the book Brown Bear Brown Bear.  Don’t ask me where this crap comes from because I can’t give a good answer other than I am a demented individual.

Do you and your significant other have a song or are Melinda and I the only ones?

I was provided with the Windows 8X by HTC but ALL pinions are based on my own experiences. #Troop8X #HTC8

  1. Congratulations on 12 years, you have a great song. I loved it when it first came out, you’re right you don’t hear it much these days. Richard and I don’t have a song, I should ask him why that is lol.

  2. Lifehouse has some great music! My guy and I don’t have a song, in fact our taste in music has drifted apart over the years!
I’m a little bit scared and slightly curious about your Sugar Booger Sugar Booger song!

  3. You’re so funny Rob. Our song is Come Sail Away by Styx.

    • I like that song from Styx too, LOL. Wait until Shae and I finish our song. It will be your new song for sure.

  4. We have songs that remind us of old times but we don’t officially have a song for “us”.

  5. First, Sugar Booger is hysterical… I cannot wait until you and Shae finish it. =)

Now onto the serious stuff: I think it is extremely sweet that you and Melinda have a special song and you are not a dork for it. Bill and I actually have a few songs that remind us of several points in our relationship. Music plays a really big part of our lives and we can hear a song, look at each other, and know exactly what we are thinking.
    I think it is beautifu’l.
    Contratulations on you anniversary.

  6. Betty Baez says:

HAHAHA!!! that was hilarious “im a demented individual” i think everyone has their quirks which makes them unique….. I love this song i specifically remember sweeping the kitchen floor my parents werent home and i had this song blasting (we had a built in radio that had speakers throughout the house) and i was screaming the lyrics my parents walked in to catch me i was soo embarassed lol…. my song is staind all i want but hubbys song to me is unforgettable by nat king cole and elvis devil in disguise lol

  7. Our song is a country song (we were both into country years ago) by Tim McGraw called My Best Friend. My husband and I were friends first and he’s still my best friend. Our anniversary is July 15th and we’ll be married 13 years. When is your anniversary in July?

  8. I think it is just you guys.

  9. No special song. “Sugar Booger” kinda scares me. :(

  10. My goodness! I love that song, too. It reminds me of my best friend. It was our song when it first came out. :)

  11. Hanging by a Moment is one of my favorite songs ever, but it’s more a faith song for me. Me & Chris’ wedding song was Iris by Goo Goo Dolls, I always think of him when I hear anything from that album!

  12. LOL. I just wanted to say that Windows phone looks sweet. Also, your poem that your working on with your daughter sounds like a winner (no pun intended, LOL)

  13. Sugar booger, huh?! ;)

    Congrats on 12 years!

  14. Awww! Well the fact you guys have a song is SO SWEET! My hubby and I have our wedding song, I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You. <3

    • Melinda and I didn’t have a traditional wedding so we don’t have a wedding song so we cherish the one we have.

  15. UGH, Rob!!! Yours and Melinda’s song used to be mine and my sons fathers song, lol. I actually cringe now when i hear it and have to change it…..i’m sorry.

    But what a coincidence though!!

On a happier note, I can’t wait to hear your sugar booger song!! :)

  16. Congratulations on 12 years! Thats awesome. We have two songs. The one that my husband sang on our first date and the one he picked for our first dance. He can’t remember either of them now though!

    • LOL, I like that you have two songs but he doesn’t remember them. Do you remember either of them?

      • Absolutely! The first song he sang to me in the car at Perkins at our breakfast date: George Strait Don’t make me come over there and love you. The second for our first dance was Glory of Love.

  17. 12 years is terrific…congratulations! Kelly and I have a song…so we share in your dork-a-tude. Having a song is so special I don’t usually want to share what it is, cause its ours. Silly I know…but its ours. Since you asked, its ‘Bless The Broken Road’. Cheers

  18. I love how you two not only work together and parent together, but still have that cheezy romantic side. Adorable!

  19. My husband and I do have a song, it is Calico Skies by Paul McCartney, BUT anytime I hear Sugaree by the Grateful Dead or any Guster tune, I have a moment remembering old times! Great post!

  20. Congrats to you! We have a few songs that both remind us of each other and instantly transport us back to those early days…Donna Lewis – I Love You Always Forever, Candlebox – You and No Doubt – Don’t Speak :)

  21. Thanks, Nice selection of songs you two have. I like Candlebox and No Doubt.

  22. That’s actually the first time I’ve heard that song. Congrats on 12 years! Beeb and I were just friends for quite a few months at first. I can’t say there’s one particular song for us but, tongue-in-cheek at the time, I declared Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo & Juliet” to be our song and started sneaking it into playlists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Cxj8vSS2ELU#t=848s
