The Parking Spot Recap

This past weekend I took an awesome trip to Chicago for the Kenmore 2012 Fall Blogger Summit and I had the opportunity to leave my car at The Parking Spot while I was on my trip.

Typically when I fly I tend to use the same parking lot and have done so for the last few years so I will admit that I was a little skeptical trying somewhere new. Now I know you might say it’s only a parking lot but I like knowing that my car is safe and will be in the same condition that I left it when I return back from my trip. Parking in the same lot for the last few years has given me a certain comfort level because I know how their overall process works but I stepped outside of my comfort zone and gave The Parking Spot a try and I am glad I did.

One day early last week I went to their web site to make a reservation which took only a few minutes because I wanted to make sure that the lot wouldn’t be full the day I arrived. The Parking Spot offers self-parking and valet parking at very reasonable prices and thankfully I decided on valet parking because when I arrived to the lot in Philadelphia on Friday it was pouring rain so needless to say it was nice to have a nice dry garage to pull into and unload all of my luggage. After I unloaded my luggage the attendant took my car and I waited for the shuttle to pick me up and take me to the airport. One of the things that I really liked besides the garage since it was pouring was that they offered free bottles of water as well as free copies of the USA Today (which I read on the way to Chicago). Most of the time it’s the little things that make an experience that much more enjoyable.

I was gone for two days and when I arrived back to Philly the process was super simple. I needed to wait in a certain zone at the airport and the shuttle just showed up. I called and was told a shuttle comes by approximately every seven minutes which means you won’t have to wait very long to be picked up. When I arrived back to the lot I was dropped off inside the valet garage and the attendant got my car for me and I was off. It was really that simple. After I settled up with the person and was about to pull away she handed me a bottle of water and told me to have a nice day. Again it’s the little things and I was so happy because after getting to the airport for a 6am flight and not having time to eat that bottle of water was refreshing and made my experience at The Parking Spot that much more enjoyable.

The Parking Spot, the nation’s largest near-airport parking operator, is now offering travelers up to 25 percent off parking as part of its “More Spots, More Savings” national promotion. With more than 35 locations at 22 U.S. airports, it’s now easier than ever to take advantage of low airfares and plan a getaway.

For this trip I stepped outside of my comfort zone and I am glad I did because The Parking Spot is now my new place to park when traveling from the Philadelphia airport.

Will you be traveling soon?  If so today is your lucky day because one Look What Mom Found… and Dad too! reader will have the chance to win a voucher good for one week of free parking (valid for either self-park or valet) at any of the locations at the following U.S. airports : Atlanta Hartsfield, Austin Bergstrom, Buffalo – Niagara, Dallas Fort Worth, Dallas Love Field, Denver International, Houston Hobby, Houston George Bush Intercontinental, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville, Newark, New York JFK, Oklahoma City Will Rogers, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix Sky Harbor, Pittsburgh, Port Columbus, and Lambert -St. Louis. All you have to do is tell me where you are planning on going for your next trip.

Shop At Home for the Holidays with #ThirtyOne plus #giveaway

Last summer I asked the Twitterverse for their recommendations for a beach/pool bag large enough for a family of 5. I got some expected answers, some brands shouting out their own goods and then a couple mentions of Thirty-One and the options they have. Do you think it was coincidence that 2 weeks later I stumbled on a table at a local 4th of July Festival and it was a local Thirty-One representative? The table was covered in gorgeous colors and patterns and options for any and every organizational, travel, storage issue ever imagined. This began my love affair friendship with Wendi. Shortly after this meeting I was invited to and attended her Open House where I got to see more items on display and in action all over her house.

thirty-one gifts, personalized bags, organized closet

I shopped that day and have been back numerous times since. My everyday wallet as well as small cosmetic case are permanent fixtures in my purse. My beach bag is their XXL Everyday Tote. This thing holds 5 beach towels, a Zippered Pouch of sunscreen, a Zippered Pouch for the iPad and phones and a thermal Tote for snack. Yes all of those things I mentioned are from Thirty-One.

I’m in love with the construction quality, ability to match patterns and the always changing designs and products. I know if they discontinue something (my wallet) I will be able to find something else I equally love.

new thirtyone patterns

Over the past two years with Thirty-One, I’ve helped hundreds of ladies get organized around the house and on-the-go. Our terrific line of personalizable bags, organizers, accessories, stationery and more has just what you need for the perfect thoughtful gift, or a little indulgence for yourself. I’m happy to share Thirty-One with you, and would love to help make your holiday shopping a little easier!

For me, Thirty-One is way more than an indulgence – it’s the source of income I need to keep me at home with my four-year-old son, Darren. For my hostesses, it is the free, half-price and exclusive products they get, while having much needed girl time with friends and family. For my customers, it is an amazing price for a stylish and functional item.

I love sharing Thirty-One, and I am loving my Thirty-One experience. How can I help you experience Thirty-One? Whether you’d like to do a little shopping, you’re thinking of hosting a home or catalog/online party, or you want to live the dream of a Thirty-One consultant… call or email me today!

Kohl’s GrandOpening Sales and GC #Giveaway

You might already know I love Kohl’s. It’s a convenient place for me to shop for everyone in the family for almost every need. It’s usually the first place I go when looking for something specific. In fact we did a good chunk of Back to School shopping for the kids the last couple of weeks.

Kohl’s celebrates 50 years of great things and are opening 12 new stores this fall. This week Kohl’s is celebrating those Grand Openings with sales in every department.
I made a run into my local Kohl’s to stock up on home staples. Bath towels are one of my favorite buys. The fluffy goodness of a new towel makes me happy. The great price for their Apt. 9 brand made me even happier.

Normally I expect to pay over $15 for a quality bath towel, one large enough for Rob but still pretty enough for me. These Apt.9 towels came in about 10 colors that would match almost any decor. Right now our bathrooms are painted blood red but the new paint chosen is more of a cappuccino tone so I knew I could choose almost any new bath towel color.

I settled on a light baby blue and brown with light blue accent set. The shaggy rug is a nice touch when stepping out of the shower. I purchased 4 bath towels and 2 hand towels for just under $52. (no tax in Delaware). I’m still debating the rug. This is all we need for the master bathroom. I can’t beat that price for the quality of these particular towels. In fact Kohl’s had an even cheaper option but I didn’t want to skimp on thickness even though they cheaper option was about 50% less.

Designer Sunglasses or $200 VisaGC #giveaway

In just a few short weeks I’ll be turning 38 years old. I’ll be honest with you, I’m starting to feel it. Running after a 5 year old in the park is pretty exhausting. Early bedtimes on a Saturday night is becoming more common and that teeny tiny print on bottles, boxes and magazines is driving me batty.

You know what I’m talking about don’t you. Looking down your nose while moving whatever you’re reading further away to get just the right distance to read the lipstick label or mac and cheese directions. That’s what I’ve been doing for the last couple of months. For so many years I’ve had zero problem with my vision. Today my vision is proving to me that as I get older I need to focus on different aspects of my health and well being.

Annual eye exams – such as the VSP Vision Care WellVision Exam® – are important to your overall health. They allow VSP eye doctors to detect early signs of health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, among others.

Basic exams given at your children’s school only screen for vision problems. Comprehensive eye exams can reveal so much more. The kids are back to school and doing well but starting them off with a clean bill of health would’ve been a smarter healthcare choice.
Parents should take their children to the eye doctor for a comprehensive eye exam starting as young as six months old, then again at three years old, before kindergarten and every year after that.

  • In-school screenings do not provide the same level of detection as comprehensive eye exams.
  • 80 percent of what we learn is through our eyes, making this an essential for your back-to-school “to do” list.
  • Common signs of vision problems include squinting, head tilting, avoiding “close work,” trouble focusing, continuous rubbing of their eyes, headaches, etc.
  • 1 in 4 children have an undetected vision condition that can negatively impact learning.

If you and your children cannot see properly what is in front of them there is no way you can expect quality performance in school, sports and beyond. Utilize services such as VSP Global® includes VSP Vision Care, the largest not-for-profit vision benefits and services company in the United States with 58 million members to get the screenings and solutions you need.

Family Game Night with Suspend plus #giveaway

Family Game Night used to be the norm in our house. Those days have become a bit scarce lately. We have busy schedules and even the kids just want some down time vegging in front of the tv or playing video games. But sometimes there comes a game that gets the kids to turn off the tv and pull up some carpet. Suspend from Melissa and Doug is that game right now. It’s a simple game of steady hands and balance.
suspend game from melissa and doug

Suspend comes with 24 notched, rubber-tipped wire pieces to hang from a tabletop stand. Sound easy? Try adding another piece! Each time a bar is added, the balance shifts, the difficulty changes and the incredible midair sculpture transforms. Can you add all your game pieces without making it fall? This tricky game for 1-4 players is a test of steady nerves and steady hands.

Suspend was delivered late one afternoon and it was played for anhour that very night. It’s become the go to game for those “I’m bored” moments because it’s something all 3 of the kids can play at the same time. The recommendations say for kids age 8 and up but after an explanation of the rules and directions Shae was playing just as well as the others.

This game takes up very little space to store and to play. It can easily be something you pack for vacations or sleepovers with the grandparents.
