Squeaky stairs, drippy faucets and chirping alarms are all common annoyances that happen in homes all over the world. Did you know that one of these could be hazardous to your families safety? In fact, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) statistics indicate that the primary reasons smoke alarms fail to operate in home structure fires is a missing/disconnected battery (50%) and dead/discharged battery (23%).
One of my biggest annoyances at home is my uneven floor in the corners on my living room. Our computer desk has had 2 locations in the last few months, both corners and both times the desk chair rolls away from the desk. It’s very frustrating when I’m trying to get work done and I’m slowing slipping away from the keyboard or accidentally roll over a dog’s tail because he’s trying cuddle around my feet. My simple solution to this is temporarily replacing it with a dining chair. Not as comfortable but I know I won’t be going anywhere.
A chirping smoke alarm is equally annoying but it typically means that the batteries simply need to be changed. Instead of just taking your alarm down and hiding behind a picture or tucking it in a drawer take a few extra minutes to replace the batteries. Kidde, a leader in fire protection and safety equipment urges families to protect your family and home from the dangers of being left without a warning. Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained are probably the least expensive way to keep your family and home safe in the threat of a fire.
Kidde has recently introduced a line of Worry-Free Smoke Alarms, which offer a variety of benefits to the millions of Americans who rely on continuous battery-powered smoke and fire detection in their homes. The new alarms are powered by sealed-in, long-life lithium batteries for 10 years (the life of the alarm).
Benefits of Worry Free Smoke Alarms
With the holidays approaching and ovens, fireplaces, decorative lighting and candles and portable heater use on the rise Kidde wants to offer LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers the chance to win a 2-pack of Worry Free Smoke Alarms. Share with us your own home annoyances to enter.

A couple weeks ago Rob and I were invited to see the reveal of the Ninja Cooking System. Since I like to cook and love to try out fun appliances I knew we had to attend. The event was held at Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market at La Cucina, a demonstration kitchen.
The night started with fun food and drinks and introductions of the PR Team, Euro-Pro team and Stephanie O’Dea, slow cooker queen.
We got to try our hands at using the Ninja. Each team had a different recipe and each one used a different function or two. The Ninja Cooking System goes from a stovetop to oven to slow cooker in the flick of a switch.
Roasted Pesto Chicken and Rice
The chicken ended up very moist, the rice was flavorful but the green beans were a bit overcooked. I wanted to add them the last several minutes of cooking but couldn’t figure out how to remove the roasting rack without spilling the chicken all over the place. This whole meal could’ve been done in 3 separate pans but why make that mess. This is one pot cooking without it having to be a casserole or stew.
A couple differences I would’ve liked to see is the additional trivet and mitts come standard with the set. It’s such a unique product that everything should be included to get the full pleasure of using it instead of fumbling around looking for something to just work. There also needs to be a simple way to remove the hot roasting rack or baking pan from the Ninja. I tried 2 forks, tongs and oven mitts but nothing was just right. The chicken finally came out but it wasn’t simple to balance on the larger handles.
Overall I’m happy with the way the Ninja performed and cleaned up. We will have other recipes to share in the near future.
I’m opening up a Linky for the rest of the bunch that attended the Ninja Cooking System demo in Philadelphia or anywhere else across the country. I’d love to see ho everyone else is using it and try out other recipes to get the most use possible and keep my kitchen clean.

Looking and feeling good is extremely important and it can set your tone for the whole day. Recently I received a few Nivea products that make me feel and look really good.
Here is what I received:
I gave the body wash to Shaun as I still use old fashion bar soap and he loves it. He told me he likes how it makes him smell after his shower which is funny considering he is only 9 years old. I guess Shaun wants to smell good for the girls at school. I have been using the face wash as well as the post shave balm and am very pleased so far. I have sensitive skin which means I break out pretty easy so I am always looking for a face wash that will clean my face without breaking me out and so far the Nivea face wash has been doing just that. I also LOVE the post shave balm because again I have sensitive skin especially my neck area so my skin often gets irritated after I shave and the post shave balm has really helps sooth my skin.
All in all I am very happy with the Nivea for Men products because they make me feel good and feeling good gives you that confidence you need to get through the day. If you are looking for a gift for that man on your list this holiday season take a look at the NIVEA for Men Product line because I am sure you will find something that they will love.

This past weekend I took an awesome trip to Chicago for the Kenmore 2012 Fall Blogger Summit and I had the opportunity to leave my car at The Parking Spot while I was on my trip.
Typically when I fly I tend to use the same parking lot and have done so for the last few years so I will admit that I was a little skeptical trying somewhere new. Now I know you might say it’s only a parking lot but I like knowing that my car is safe and will be in the same condition that I left it when I return back from my trip. Parking in the same lot for the last few years has given me a certain comfort level because I know how their overall process works but I stepped outside of my comfort zone and gave The Parking Spot a try and I am glad I did.
One day early last week I went to their web site to make a reservation which took only a few minutes because I wanted to make sure that the lot wouldn’t be full the day I arrived. The Parking Spot offers self-parking and valet parking at very reasonable prices and thankfully I decided on valet parking because when I arrived to the lot in Philadelphia on Friday it was pouring rain so needless to say it was nice to have a nice dry garage to pull into and unload all of my luggage. After I unloaded my luggage the attendant took my car and I waited for the shuttle to pick me up and take me to the airport. One of the things that I really liked besides the garage since it was pouring was that they offered free bottles of water as well as free copies of the USA Today (which I read on the way to Chicago). Most of the time it’s the little things that make an experience that much more enjoyable.
I was gone for two days and when I arrived back to Philly the process was super simple. I needed to wait in a certain zone at the airport and the shuttle just showed up. I called and was told a shuttle comes by approximately every seven minutes which means you won’t have to wait very long to be picked up. When I arrived back to the lot I was dropped off inside the valet garage and the attendant got my car for me and I was off. It was really that simple. After I settled up with the person and was about to pull away she handed me a bottle of water and told me to have a nice day. Again it’s the little things and I was so happy because after getting to the airport for a 6am flight and not having time to eat that bottle of water was refreshing and made my experience at The Parking Spot that much more enjoyable.
The Parking Spot, the nation’s largest near-airport parking operator, is now offering travelers up to 25 percent off parking as part of its “More Spots, More Savings” national promotion. With more than 35 locations at 22 U.S. airports, it’s now easier than ever to take advantage of low airfares and plan a getaway.
For this trip I stepped outside of my comfort zone and I am glad I did because The Parking Spot is now my new place to park when traveling from the Philadelphia airport.
Will you be traveling soon? If so today is your lucky day because one Look What Mom Found… and Dad too! reader will have the chance to win a voucher good for one week of free parking (valid for either self-park or valet) at any of the locations at the following U.S. airports : Atlanta Hartsfield, Austin Bergstrom, Buffalo – Niagara, Dallas Fort Worth, Dallas Love Field, Denver International, Houston Hobby, Houston George Bush Intercontinental, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville, Newark, New York JFK, Oklahoma City Will Rogers, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix Sky Harbor, Pittsburgh, Port Columbus, and Lambert -St. Louis. All you have to do is tell me where you are planning on going for your next trip.

Last summer I asked the Twitterverse for their recommendations for a beach/pool bag large enough for a family of 5. I got some expected answers, some brands shouting out their own goods and then a couple mentions of Thirty-One and the options they have. Do you think it was coincidence that 2 weeks later I stumbled on a table at a local 4th of July Festival and it was a local Thirty-One representative? The table was covered in gorgeous colors and patterns and options for any and every organizational, travel, storage issue ever imagined. This began my love affair friendship with Wendi. Shortly after this meeting I was invited to and attended her Open House where I got to see more items on display and in action all over her house.
I shopped that day and have been back numerous times since. My everyday wallet as well as small cosmetic case are permanent fixtures in my purse. My beach bag is their XXL Everyday Tote. This thing holds 5 beach towels, a Zippered Pouch of sunscreen, a Zippered Pouch for the iPad and phones and a thermal Tote for snack. Yes all of those things I mentioned are from Thirty-One.
I’m in love with the construction quality, ability to match patterns and the always changing designs and products. I know if they discontinue something (my wallet) I will be able to find something else I equally love.
Over the past two years with Thirty-One, I’ve helped hundreds of ladies get organized around the house and on-the-go. Our terrific line of personalizable bags, organizers, accessories, stationery and more has just what you need for the perfect thoughtful gift, or a little indulgence for yourself. I’m happy to share Thirty-One with you, and would love to help make your holiday shopping a little easier!
For me, Thirty-One is way more than an indulgence – it’s the source of income I need to keep me at home with my four-year-old son, Darren. For my hostesses, it is the free, half-price and exclusive products they get, while having much needed girl time with friends and family. For my customers, it is an amazing price for a stylish and functional item.
I love sharing Thirty-One, and I am loving my Thirty-One experience. How can I help you experience Thirty-One? Whether you’d like to do a little shopping, you’re thinking of hosting a home or catalog/online party, or you want to live the dream of a Thirty-One consultant… call or email me today!
