UMI Shoes Fall and Winter Collection Giveaway – CLOSED
Winter is coming up so that means the sandals have to go away and the socks and REAL shoes have to come out. Shae is like me and likes easy shoes that slip on are her go to. Maryjanes are usually the answer as they tend to have simple closures. Shae’s new Adelaide shoes from UMI are perfect for her to self-dress.

Let’s not forget how incredibly cute they are too. A European inspired design is to thank for the style and quality.
Shae has been wearing UMI shoes for a couple seasons now. Her black Adelaide mary janes are going to be the perfect finish to her Velma costume this Halloween. All summer she sported a beautiful pair of brown and pearly blue thong sandals that got compliments everywhere we went; feminine and flowery but still comfortable. I’m sad that these won’t fit next summer.

Shaun Thinks Money Grows On Trees
Today Shaun’s Scholastic book form came home from school and he asked if he could get some books. I told Shaun to circle what he wanted and I would look to see what we would get if anything at all. Shaun went into the kitchen and came out a little while later saying he needed $12 for Snow Science (you make your own snow flakes) and then another book that I can’t remember.
Shaun then asked me what Harry Potter books Sabreena had because he saw them in his Scholastic magazine. Not sure why he is asking because he is not able to read those books yet. He must have asked Sabreena because he came back downstairs a few minutes later went into the kitchen and then came out an said “Dad, I need $35 so I can get Snow Science, Scooby Doo and Harry Potter”. Melinda and I laughed immediately. His book order went from $12 to $35 in an instant. This boy must think money grows on trees!!
Shae Is An Addict
.
I sort of understand why she is addicted to Scooby Doo and it is probably because everyone in the house except Melinda either loves Scooby Doo now or did at one point in their life.
Strawberry Shortcake I have ZERO idea why Shae loves her so much. She loves her so much she has been asking for one for Christmas for the past month or so. We have never had anything Strawberry Shortcake in the house except maybe for a cake.
This past Saturday I fed into Shae’s Strawberry Shortcake addiction by buying her a little Strawberry Shortcake toy at McDonald’s that smells like strawberries. LOL.
Are your kids addicted to anything that you find weird like Strawberry Shortcake?
Shae’s First
Shaun and I helped with parking at the University of Delaware football game for his Cub Scout troop (fund-raiser) and as a way to reward the kids they give them $5 to go to McDonald’s. Shaun himself hasn’t had McDonald’s in about 4 years because we stopped eating there but today he was so excited to eat there. So while I was ordering Shaun’s meal I felt I couldn’t go home with only a meal for him so I got one for Shae.
I am hoping I didn’t start something because this was a onetime treat and not an ongoing thing!
My Boy Is A Cub Scout
About three weeks ago Melinda and I decided Shaun needed to be involved in something outside of school so I took him to a cub scouts meeting. The 1st meeting all they did was play so I was a little hesitant on taking him back to a second meeting. We did attend the second meeting and they actually did some work out of the “Wolf” handbook and he enjoyed it so we are all in now.
We forked out $50 for his uniform, $50 to register him and $50 for a camping trip him and I are attending at the end of October. So we are looking forward to his journey through cub scouts and he is pretty excited every Monday for his meeting. Lets keep our fingers crossed that he stays excited!

oKIDokie Sounds for Silence
oKIDokie announces the growing availability of its Sounds for Silence Settling Baby Program throughout the U.S. The program goes beyond sleep-assistance and baby soothing music CDs on the market or the use of lullabies and calms nine out of 10 babies; of those, one out of two settle in less than one minute.
The Sounds for Silence Program includes the Soundtracks and Sounds for Silence Baby Settling and Health Guide. It is the perfect holiday gift for new parents and is now available at a limited holiday season cost of $9.95 at Amazon.com.
Infant colic and irritability, and the resulting parental sleep deprivation, affects about one million families each year in the United States. Nearly one in four babies has persistent infant irritability caused by colic.
Sounds for Silence was created by Pediatrician, Dr. Harry Zehnwirth to help parents solve infant sleep challenges, parental sleep deprivation and the resulting exhaustion and frustration.
The Sounds for Silence Soundtracks distract, engage and quickly soothe unsettled babies with rhythmical, familiar and reassuring sounds. With a 90 percent success rate, Sounds for Silence is also soothing to parents.
This would have been great for Shaun and Shae when they were babies. They love music now at bed time and I am sure Sounds of Silence would have helped them on those restless nights when they weren’t able to settle down and get to sleep which was often with the both of them.
The program also comes with the Sounds for Silence Baby Settling and Health Guide. This practical book contains reassuring advice for parents on settling strategies, managing irritability and infant health issues. It is written from a no-nonsense perspective that cuts through the outdated conventions and myths of child-rearing. It is uplifting and reassures parents that they are not alone and their infant’s sleeping challenges are not uncommon.
Dr. Zehnwirth encourages parents to follow their intuition and have confidence to listen to their heart when it comes to fulfilling their baby’s needs. New parents are bombarded with advice from friends and family, as well as outdated and conflicting information, often resulting in them feeling inadequate and guilty. Instead, Dr Zehnwirth and Sounds for Silence supports parents with information, practical strategies and reassurance.

Fisher-Price Imaginext BIGFOOT the Monster Recap and Giveaway-CLOSED
I remember when I was a kid and toys were pretty basic and not a whole lot of fun. I would find myself getting bored pretty easily but now days toys are so high tech and provide hours of fun and entertainment for kids and sometime adults like me, LOL. A good example of a great new high tech toy that is limitless in its fun is BIGFOOT the Monster by Fisher-Price Imaginext.
We were lucky to have received BIGFOOT and I am glad we did. He is a pretty cool toy that comes with a rechargeable 7.2 volt NiMH battery and battery charger as well as a remote control that requires two AA batteries. One of the cool features of BIGFOOT is the remote control has symbols on the buttons which show you what BIGFOOT will do when you push that button. BIGFOOT shows a lot of emotion by being happy, angry, and sleepy. He walks and talks, chews and burps (he remembers to say “excuse me”), throws a ball and exercises as well. Who doesn’t love a monster that burps and exercises? Also, BIGFOOT is recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 8.
Before we received this for analyse Shae starting hanging out with an imaginary monster friend who ate with us and went places with us but now that we have BIGFOOT he is Shae’s new real monster friend who eats with her and goes places with her. My kids love that BIGFOOT seems so alive and is able to do so many different things with the push of a button. My kids are easily bored but not with this as it provides endless fun and laughter.
If you have a child on your holiday list make sure you check out BIGFOOT the Monster by Fisher-Price Imaginext as he is a must have for this holiday season.
You can win your very own Fisher-Price Imaginext BIGFOOT the Monster valued at $100. All you have to do is tell me who this would be for if you win and what other Fisher-Price Imaginext product you think is really cool.
