Musicolor Recapitulation

I never really thought music and art were two things that you would put together until the Musicolor.  The Musicolor lets kids explore their artistic side then allows them to enjoy the music that they created.

The Musicolor comes with pre-printed coloring discs that you simply color in the spaces according to the letter printed in the area, when you are done, the disc will play the song for the scene you have just colored! For kids who want to be really creative, use the blank song discs and create your own masterpiece from scratch.

What I really think is cool about the Musicolor is that it resembles a classisc record player.

The Musicolor music player consists of a rotating base and an arm for reading the music discs, much the same as a DVD player reads a DVD. The arm scans over the colored areas of the music disc rotating on the music player, reads the color and translates it to sound. The player also has three sounds: piano, violin and trumpet.”

When Shae first opened the Musicolor she saw the music note markers and immediately wanted to start coloring. Little did Shae know that the song disc she was coloring was going to be turned into music on the Musicolor music player. Shae really loves music and she also loves to color and the Musicolor has found a way for her to enjoy both at the same time.

In my opinion what makes the Musicolor so great is it is perfect for a wide age range. If you have an older child they most likely would enjoy the the blank ‘Create-a-song’ music discs while younger kids would like the pre-printed song discs that are color-by-number.

The Musicolor is currently available online at target.com, amazon.com and deltacreative.com, Musicolor sells for $49.99 with a variety of accessories for years of creative fun.

Anne Geddes Tiger Jacket Recap

Everyone knows those sweet photos of babies snuggled on top of pillows or smushed up in a flower.

Those photos are taken by famed photographer Anne Geddes. Anne was born in Queensland, Australia on a beef cattle farm with 4 sisters. For many many years before becoming the incredible talent we all now know she traveled, worked, loved and lived until she found that exact passion that made her feel complete, photography. But not just any photography, the kind of children’s portraiture that makes your heart melt and wish you could get inside the photo with her subjects.Today Anne Geddes’ name is known worldwide. Anne’s award-winning images have been published in 83 countries spanning North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Her books have sold more than 18 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 24 languages.

I received her book Pure as a Christmas present from Rob when I was pregnant with Shaun. Opening it for the first time took my breath away. The timing was perfect; the book was filled with images of not just sweet wrinkly babies but of gorgeous glowing pregnant women. The picture of me opening that gift I wasn’t so glowing or gorgeous but the book made my Christmas. I’m not a book collector but this is one I will never let go, that is until it’s time to give it to one of my daughters.

This book along with her other publications, calendars, stationery and best of all babies and children’s clothing and accessories are available at AnneGeddes.com or at the first Anne Geddes retail store in the Downtown Disney® District in Anaheim, California. Shoppers there are able to enjoy selections of Anne’s large, art-quality prints, touch the soft natural materials of her Pure baby clothing line or the classic Fairy Tale collection. Another benefit of being a shopper is the chance to see and meet Anne in person as she is known to stop by now and again from her home in Australia, enjoying the opportunity to chat with friends and fans and to sign her books.

We had the opportunity to experience Anne Geddes’ Tiger collection with a analysis of the Tiger Jacket. I chose the “boy” color to match with more things of Shae’s thing and I wasn’t disappointed with that decision. The jacket is warm and velvety soft. She looked at it and screamed out “For Me!” as soon as I pulled it out of the box. She wore it a few times already and it looks and feels great. This particular jacket is for cool weather but not heavy cold winter. The hood features the cutest little tiger ears too.

Anne Geddes wants you to indulge your little one in with their own Tiger Jacket. Win a jacket of your color and size choice right here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Visit AnneGeddes.com and tell me something, anything you learned about her life or mission that you find interesting or another item that you just can’t live without.

Funky Monkey, Fruit that Crunches

With 3 kids in the house you can imagine how many snacks we have in the house. At any given moment there are over a dozen choices that they can make, some healthy some not so much. I really prefer to have healthful options such as fresh fruit, veggies, granola and cereal ready for the picking but just like me the kids get tired of the same things over and over again. Funky Monkey snacks are one of our new favorites and one of the non-messy ones.

Funky Monkey is the fruit that crunches. All Funky Monkey snacks are made using a proprietary freeze-drying process on whole slices and large chunks of fruit. This process removes 97% of the moisture leaving a crisp, crunchy and 100% all natural fruit snack that is nutritionally equivalent to its fresh brothers and sisters.
Funky Monkey recently introduced 3 new flavors: Applemon, MangOJ and Pink Pineapple. We got to try all 3. My favorite is MangOJ, crunchy bits of mango infused with sweet orange juice. Shae likes Applemon best: apple slices with a bit of cinnamon. The crunchiest ones of the bunch is Pink Pineapple. My friends Sofie and Lily like this flavor the best, so much that Sof screams for more!

These snacks pack a punch of not only flavor but nutritional quality. In one little freeze dried ounce you get 3 servings of fruit without added sugar, fat, sodium, color or preservatives. It’s real food with a twist.

I would love to see veggies incorporated into Funky Monkey Snacks. Has anyone had freeze dried broccoli? What about red pepper strips? Dusted with ranch dressing powder would be delish! My kids usually don’t have a problem with fruit and most veggies but this would be a great way to get those green ones in them with less hassle.  I also would love the option of reclosing the bags.  We opened all 3 flavors to try and didn’t eat them all in one sitting, storage wasn’t easy.

Try them for yourself! Funky Monkey Snacks can be found at major retailers and online. Become a Facebook Fan or follow on Twitter of Funky Monkey Snacks to stay connected on new flavors, products and news.

Campbells Soup is M’mm! M’mm! Good! giftpack giveaway-CLOSED

I grew up eating Campbell’s Chicken and Stars and New England Clam Chowder. These days kids have their choice of everything from Spongebob and Dora shaped noodles to soup with MEGA amounts of noodles. But soup isn’t just for kids, Campbells offers plenty of more sophisticated choices for adults too like Select Harvest selections or home-style Chunky soups.

It’s been a very very long time since I ate soup from a can; in fact homemade soup is a regular meal for us. So when Campbells Soup approached us for a review I wasn’t too sure what to say but I knew with the holidays fast approaching some fun easy meals for the kids would be a smart move. We received a great gift pack containing 3 cans of soup, 2 BIG bottles of V8 Fusion (the only juice we drink), a kids stainless steel water bottle and a lunch bag.
Within days of receiving or goodies an opportunity came up for Shaun to try out his first bowl of Campbells Sponge Bob Squarepants soup. Needless to say he loved it and soon ate the remaining 2 cans over the next couple weeks. We’ve adopted healthier eating habits over the past couple years so I tend to stay away from processed foods but with Campbell’s recent changes to the nutritional content of kid’s soup I feel confident that the occasional of canned soup is perfectly fine.

Last fall, as part of its ongoing commitment to health and wellness, Campbells Soup Company reduced the sodium of all 12 Campbell’s Kids soups to meet the government criteria for “healthy” foods-controlled for fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium and containing a positive nutrient source. All the varieties contain 110 calorie or less, 3g of fat or less, 0g trans fat, 480 mg sodium and are a good source of vitamin A per 1 cup prepared serving. Also another plus, none of the soups contain added MSG, preservatives or artificial flavors.

Campbells Soup Company wants to show you the positive changes they are making to keep you kids healthy. Win the same goodies we got try out:

  • A lunch tote
  • A kid-friendly juice bottle
  • Samples of Campbell’s Kids soup and V8 V-Fusion (Strawberry Banana and Pomegranate Blueberry)-Get your $1 off coupon here
To enter just visit Campbells Soup Company and tell me what other products you love or would love to try!

National Aquarium Baltimore

Got Fish? The National Aquarium Baltimore has tons of fish and we were lucky enough to go last week since the kids were off from school. The kids love to go to the aquarium and we always have a great time when we go.

The kids were really excited to get in the aquarium and right up the escalator is the first exhibit, an open tank which is filled with rays, fish and turtles. The kids loved looking at the rays and at the time when we arrived there were scuba divers in the tank feeding the rays and fish which the kids thought was really cool. We hung out at this exhibit for a little while before taking the escalator to the next level which in my opinion is where Shae was the most excited. On this level is where they have salt water exhibits and they were filled with fish like the ones from the Disney movie, Finding Nemo. I am sure you can figure out what fish Shae was excited to see, Nemo (clown fish). After dragging her away from the clown fish we headed over to the amphitheater to watch the dolphin show called Our Ocean Planet which was very good. That show lasted about 30 minutes and after that we headed down to the new jelly fish exhibit called Jellies Invasion:Oceans Out of Balance. This was one of the coolest exhibits we visited during our trip in my opinion. It was really cool to see so many different varieties of jelly fish and to read all about them.

The last thing we did was walk the 5 plus floors down through the huge aquarium that are filled with tons of different fish and at the very bottom are the sharks. This is really neat because as you walk down the ramp to the different floors you can look up and down and see the different fish. The kids especially Shae really enjoyed this and we spent about an hour getting through this part of the aquarium which was the last exhibit of our visit.

There were two things about our visit that were a little bit of a pain but did not in any way take away from our great visit to the aquarium. We were lucky enough to get four feedbacks tickets to visit the National Aquarium Baltimore and were told to go to the membership entrance to pick up our tickets. The day we went to the aquarium it was about 22 degrees outside so we figured we would be inside fast since we were getting our tickets at the membership entrance. That was not the case. In my opinion the general entrance moved a lot faster than the membership entrance on this particular day (not sure if something special was going on causing the delay at the membership entrance). Once we got our tickets and got inside we noticed they had a coat check which was a relief since we had two adult coats and four kid coats. This was another sore spot in our visit. The coat/stroller check and lockers are crammed into the same small area and both require special tokens. The token machine also was a weird device. The machine took 1’s, 5’s, 10’s and 20’s but if you needed more than one token which I did the machine would not allow me to select how many tokens I needed so it gave me my change in dollar coins. That would not have been a problem but the machine only accepted paper money and not coins which was a huge inconvenience. Once we got our coats checked the rest of our visit was awesome.

All in all it was an awesome day and an awesome visit to the National Aquarium Baltimore and I am glad we went and looking forward to a return visit. If you live anywhere near Baltimore and the Inner Harbor a visit is a must. You will be glad you did.

The Children’s Place has all your kids needs

Shopping for kids clothes is one of my favorite things to do. I love seeking out bright colors, vivid patterns and cute ensembles that match my kid’s personalities. Since Sabreena was a baby The Children’s Place has been my number one place to shop for clothes, coats and jammies.

This year we bought Shaun the 3-in-1 jacket for the winter. It comes with a fleece inner jacket that easily zips out for warmer days or cooler days indoors at school. We’ve used the coat several times now in the snow and there has been absolutely no problem with Shaun staying warm and dry with it’s nylon outer shell. We didn’t pick up the matching hat but Children’s Place was so kind to send the Faux Trapper hat that I was eyeing, I call it the Fargo hat. Shaun wasn’t too crazy about the hat in the beginning but quickly realized that it kept not only his head warm but also his ears from turning to ice cubes.  As a matter of fact both Shaun’s and Shae’s winter coats were purchased from The Children’s Place.

Along with his new hat Shaun received a beautiful Faux-Sherpa Hoodie Cardigan and matching knit hat that was a perfect addition to Christmas Eve visiting. He’s a jeans and tshirt kinda boy but this luxe brown sweater added just a touch of classiness without forcing him to be uncomfortable.

Shae was treated to a ton of goodies courtesy of The Children’s Place. Shae literally squealed with excitement when I showed her the sweater/hat/mittens combo that she received. She wanted to try everything on immediately so on top of her jammies went the new items still with tags attached.

This winter The Children’s Place has introduced not just cute apparel but also great accessories and toys to fit into any kid’s life. From watches to stuffed animals to fun board books the Children’s Place is a great place for shopping for kids of all ages. The holidays may be over but The Children’s Place is always a great place to shop for all your kids needs.

Santa’s gift to Shaun, Tony Hawk: RIDE

The hottest video game of the season has a new home in our house. Tony Hawk: RIDE is an innovative motion sensing controller shaped like a skateboard that is available for the Wii, Playstation 3 and XBOX 360.
Have you ever wanted to skate like Tony Hawk? This game lets you lift, tilt and turn to complete over 100 tricks at 6 locations all over the globe. The official website gives a great tutorial on movements to master tricks such as an Ollie or Kick Flip and also how to combine them for cooler effects and game advancement.

This year Santa brought RIDE to Shaun and Sabreena. From the second Shaun saw the box he knew what was is it, he tore through that wrapping and wanted to hook it up to the XBOX 360 right away. He played for hours on Christmas night and easily got the hang of the standard movements and skimmed through the locations and challenges. He likes to test out the different levels of a game before really starting his journey. Shaun also liked trying out all characters/players but always went back to Tony Hawk.

One thing I’d love to see is the Party feature. This lets you play an 8 multiplayer game online with Playstation 3 or XBOX 360.

Unfortunately we’ve had a ton of plans the rest of the weekend that has prohibited Shaun from continuing his training but with the next week off of school there is no doubt that he’s going to master the tricks before heading into the New Year.

If you or your kids are gamers or if you just love extreme sports like our boy does you gotta check out Tony Hawk: RIDE for yourself. Gather up all that holiday cash and gift cards and get your own RIDE.

What do you get for the person that doesn’t need a thing? My answer is to go the personalized route. My father is the perfect example of this person. He buys what he wants throughout the year so when the holiday rolls around all my ideas are scratched off because they are already on his kitchen counters or hanging in the closet.

Successories has been the leader in inspirational and motivational products for 25 years and are proud to introduce their most innovative and inspirational product line to date: Design Your Inspiration. It gives complete creative control to the customer. In just a few easy steps, anyone can create unique and inspiring personalized framed art. Choose from dozens of cute, colorful and thought-provoking imagery to create a customized present for parents, kids, grandparents, co-workers, employees, friends – anyone!

This year Successories DYI came to the rescue with the chance to customize a piece of artwork that would be perfect for the relationship between me and my dad. We’ve been through many struggles over the years; as a family we’ve had to climb many mountains to get to where we are. I was able to choose this picture as a representation of his climb to success in not only business but as the center of our family. I thought this picture along with the quote I chose would be a great addition to his office plus a reminder of how I feel about him.

The process is so simple. Select the image that suits the situation, customize it with a saying from their library or use something significant to you, personalize it with a note and finish off with the right frame and mat. No more pre-made pictures with sayings that don’t fit. Produce the perfect moment with the right photo and right adage.

It may be too late to order for the holidays this year but DYI is perfect for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Graduations. Inspire someone today.

If that’s not enough, each set is priced significantly below its retail value, saving shoppers a ton of holiday cash. Please note that quantities are limited for this holiday season and the packaging may vary from what it seen in the photos.

Our children have used Brainy Baby DVDs over the years and I believe they helped Shaun at the age of 2 to recognize a huge variety of animals for his daycare’s show and tell time. Shae has also had great success with alphabet, numbers, colors and shape recognition at a young age. The videos along with interactive flashcards, books and music helped foster a constant learning environment without losing the play factor.

With the addition of 2 new babies in the family I hope they will also love to learn as my children have. The DVDs we received, Jingle Bells and ABC’s will hopefully get the same loving reception that our Brainy Baby products did over the years.
