Ouchies introduces Mr. Men and Little Miss bandages

Don’t be bound by boring beige bandages anymore! Ouchies™ is here to break the cycle of dull and introduce you to FUN. Yes I’m talking about bandages for boo-boos but have you ever seen a kids face you hand them a cool one to cover a skinned knee or bloody finger.

We were already familiar with original Ouchies 4Boys and 4Girls and the Make Ur Own which come with mini markers to design your own wound care. BUT look at what Ouchies has recently introduced:

Mr. Men & Little Miss

There’s only one series of characters that directly connects to the personalities and emotions kids feel every single day, and that’s Mr. Men & Little Miss.

I recently had a mole biopsy that went awry. It got infected and now I’m stuck cleaning and applying medication 2-3 times a day. I’m looking forward to receiving my box of Every1 bandages from Ouchies. I’m getting a little sick of Spiderman and Scooby Doo.

Don’t we all say it’s the little things that count? Fun bandages can really bring a smile to not just kids faces but adults like me. Order now for the holidays, these would make the BEST stocking stuffers.

The ALBUM keeps your digital pictures in view

I can’t begin to tell you how many digital images we have. Even before we had a digital camera I used to have my film developed AND put on a disk so that I would always have a copy. How many do you think you have? How do you view and share these pictures? My answer is we don’t share as much as we should. I’ve always wanted a better way to share these memories with friends and family.

The ALBUM™ has made this possible. What’s the ALBUM™? To put it simply, it’s a portable digital photogallery that acts like a digital frame. That means not only can you store a ton of photos you can also view them on an end table, at lunch with friends or at a family reunion. The size of the ALBUM™ is key too, small enough to fit in a handbag but with a screen large enough to completely enjoy the image being shown.
Time to get technical:
Size 0.55″
7.7″ x 4.45″
Display Size 7″ (800 x 480 pixels)
Weight 0.9 lbs
Capacity 4 GB (up to 40,000 images) Internal Memory Can be increased to 20GB by inserting an SD memory card
Compatibility USB Device, USB Master, SD Cards
Battery Life 3 hours
Accessories Genuine leather case, Universal Charger with Replaceable Plugs, USB Cable

We recently had the chance to chat with one of the creators Dominika Applova. Being a busy mom she knew she needed a better method of sharing pictures. The idea of the ALBUM™ came from necessity, it had to be simple and FAST and most of all useable. More than just portable storage, the screen allows for an interactive experience; sharing laughs, smiles and tears while scanning photos with family and friends. Dominika really pressed the issue of its simplicity. The ability to plug in almost any gadget and move files is a fantastic draw. The simple 3 button navigation is all that is needed; no complicated menus or permissions to approve. The ALBUM™ is meant to be USED for sharing not storage, it needed to be easy to use.

My favorite feature is you never need a computer to view your shots. Slide out that memory card from the in-laws camera, pop it into the ALBUM™ and take all those xmas pics moments after they were snapped. No more waiting for that email saying they’ve been uploaded to a photo sharing site. Did you give an ALBUM™ as a gift? Hook up your Albums together with a USB cable to share pics NOW not later.

The future is looking promising for The ALBUM™.  Future editions may have the ability of storing and viewing video! I immediately knew Dominika and her team had touched on a unique and original idea that everyone never knew they needed but will soon not be able to leave the house without. No more “Let me see pics of the kids” and coming up empty handed.

What is the point of taking pictures if they won’t be seen? Become a fan of the ALBUMteam Ltd. to keep updated on all the progress and changes on the horizon. Purchase the ALBUM™ for yourself or as that perfect gift for someone else (already loaded with pics of course) directly from Album-Life.

Port Discovery Museum

I am not a huge fan of going to museums but the kids had been asking me a lot lately to go to the Port Discovery Children’s Museum and I finally caved in a few Sundays ago. At first I thought it was going to be lame and boring and I would be a clock watcher and be ready to leave as soon as we arrived but I didn’t. It was an awesome time and there was a ton of stuff to do. I even got to play while at Port Discovery.

Port Discovery located in Baltimore, Maryland is fun for the whole family. It started as soon as we walked through the doors and Shaun saw the huge soccer field and immediately wanted to jump on the field and get into the game. They use a soccer ball that is similar to a beach ball and kids get on the field and just play which is really cool. Port Discovery also has the Royal Farms Convenience Store and Fill’er Up Station which is a model of an actual Royal Farms experience with a kid-friendly twist – complete with a refrigerator door that moos when you get a quart of milk. Shae loved this exhibit because she got to go shopping just like mommy and daddy do. Shae also got to pretend fill up a VW Bug with gas which she really enjoyed.

Another HUGE exhibit at Port Discovery is Kids Works which is a three story urban treehouse. In my opinion kids could spend the whole visit playing on this three story tower of fun. This is where I got my chance to play. I know I am a grown man but let me tell you this thing is huge and looked to fun to pass up. I think I made it two stories up before the kids left me in the dust.

In my opinion and Melinda’s the best exhibit at the Port discovery Museum was The Diner. The Diner is a realistic 50’s style diner, kids can “cook” and serve food to their parents while using their math skills to ring up orders at the cash register. Our kids loved The Diner. The adults sat down while the kids brought us menus to place our order then they made the food and then served us. The kids really took The Diner seriously and played like they were real servers and cooks, it was really cool.

Port Discovery is fun for the whole family. They have a toddler room that Shae really enjoyed with a ball pit and a slide. The toddler room had a lot of miscellaneous toys that kept Shae occupied for a very long time.

So it doesn’t matter if you are two or forty two, Port Discovery has something for everyone. So if you are near the Baltimore Inner Harbor in Maryland and looking to kill a few hours be sure to stop by The Port Discovery Museum and enjoy yourself. Tickets are $12.95 for ages 2 and up and under two is free.  Port Discovery Museum also offers three different types of memberships so their is a plan for everyone. Port Discovery Museum is an awesome place to visit and play. ENJOY!!!

SafetyTat Temporary Tattoo For Kids

Being a parent comes with its own set of worries and struggles. One HUGE worry of mine is losing my children. If you remember a couple weeks back I had a scare where Shaun and Sabreena disappeared from my site for a long time. It was a nightmare.

One thing I didn’t talk about was that morning before heading out for a fun family day I applied a SafetyTat to both Shaun and Shae. Shae was never out of our site so hers didn’t come in handy but since I had to give Shaun’s information to security I was able to mention that he had a tattoo on his arm with MY phone number. Fortunately the tattoo wasn’t needed as Rob found them on his own so no one had to call me.

SafetyTat is a fun and colorful kids temporary safety tattoo with 2 distinct designs; “Original” which are customized by SafetyTat with your mobile phone number and applied with water or “Quick Stick Write-on!” which are peel-and-stick tattoos shipped blank so you can write in your mobile number with the provided tattoo marking pen. When applied to the arm of your child or loved one, SafetyTat provides a highly visible form of identification that stays in place even when wet!

The moment can happen in an instant, you lose sight of your child at the grocery store, amusement park or even your local playground. It’s a busy time of year, malls are crazy crowded and kids can quickly get separated. Take a quick moment to give yourself and your family a little insurance and apply a SafetyTat to the little ones.

Not just for lost kids though, SafetyTat also offers an Allergy Bundle to keep kids healthy when you can be by their side. Stay tuned into all of SafetyTat’s updates and new products. Do you have a story to share about your experience with SafetyTat. Become a Facebook Fan and let them know what you think. Now till December 20, 2009 received 10% off orders of $15 or more using coupon code LWMFAD09.

Monkey and the Engineer Book for All Ages

We’ve mentioned before that we are a book loving family. All the kids have huge libraries of their own filled with classics, trendy favorites and sentimental stories from my childhood.

Monkey and the Engineer is a story that was recently introduced to me for review. Its story comes from a folk classic about a train engineer’s monkey who takes command of the locomotive. The engineer originally is panicked but little did he know the monkey paid attention and knew how to operate the train. What the monkey didn’t know was there was another train on the tracks heading northbound. The story does not end in disaster, an accident is avoided. The interactions are silly and illustrations are rich and colorful. I enjoyed that the story comes right from the original song which itself is fun and toe-tapping. Shae is the dancer of the family and she has grown to love the song with is available at MonkeyandtheEngineer.com.

If you’re looking for a special gift for a child, books are always the answer. Monkey and the Engineer is going on my must-have list along with Where the Wild Things Are, A Color of His Own and Love You Forever.

Purchase Monkey and the Engineer for the holidays, make a child or adult smile with this whimsical story or bring back memories from those listening to the Grateful Dead’s version in the 80’s.

Zyclone Zing Ring Blaster

In today’s world of video games and TV kids are not getting off of the couch and getting the much needed exercise that they need. This is where Zing Toys steps in with their Zyclone Zing Ring Blaster.

The Zing Ring Blaster is a long distance ring blaster that will get the kids off of the couch and help them pursue an active lifestyle. To use the Zing Ring Blaster all you have to do is load the Zing Ring onto the front, pull back while twisting and release. Due to the twisting motion it causes the Zing Ring to rotate at a fast rate allowing it to travel at a distance of over 100 feet. Kids can shoot the Zing Ring Blaster or get two and shoot it back and forth and play catch by catching the soft foam ring with their arm.

When we got the Zing Ring Blaster for analysis Shaun was pretty excited.  The first thing he wanted to do was head to the huge field at the end of our street to see if he could get the Zing Ring to fly 100 feet.  I must say he did a pretty good job getting it to fly.  I don’t think he got it to go 100 feet but it did go pretty far.  Sabreena also took a turn seeing if she could get the Zing Ring to fly over 100 feet and I bet she did cause that baby flew and Shaun chased it down and seemed like he was running forever.

Now that they both got a chance to play with the Zyclone Zing Ring Blaster we are going to need to buy another one so that Shaun and Sabreena can play catch.  I think if we have two Zing Ring Blasters the kids will enjoy playing with them alot more.

K’NEX wants kids to make a K’NEXion

The imagination is a child’s most wonderful tool. With the imagination anything is possible.

For the past 6 years K’NEX have been a staple in our house. Sabreena has built things like a Ferris Wheels, Roller Coasters, Dune Buggys and Planes. More recently she has worked on a Windmill using the set we have and incorporating the 400 piece tub that was sent to us courtesy of Team Mom.
K’NEX has been helping Sabreena expand her imagination, build self confidence and encourage Shaun to use his imagination also. He’s only 6 so still a little too young to build some of the things he really wants to. Sabreena has been there to help him look over the directions, recognize the different pieces and work them into the design he really wants. He’s on his way to be a K’NEXpert.

Shae isn’t left out of the fun. K’NEX offers playsets for little ones as young as 2 years old. The Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection lets the younger kids build and create with familiar characters and fun themes. Shae has been playing with her favorite red monster, Elmo, with the Ice Cream Truck building set. This set includes 18 blocks plus Elmo, what I love the most is it is small enough to tote around the house to bring with us when we are on the go.

IMAGINE – Build – Play
K’NEX is the next generation of construction sets. It inspires creativity, builds self-confidence and encourages interaction among children and parents. The possibilities are endless!
K’NEX is also holding a Make a K’NEXion contest. You have the chance to win over $1,000 worth of K’NEX Toys and be featured on the KNEX.com web site. How? Make a video and include select K’NEX products. Construct your own story or showcase your child’s K’NEX building skills – use your imagination!

The 10 best videos will be featured on KNEX.com and the winning video will receive $1,000 worth of K’NEX Toys.

Purchase multiple collections of K’NEX and benefit kids in need. During the months of November and December K’NEX will donate 10% of online sales to support pediatric cancer research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In addition, at checkout, every shopper at www.knex.com will have the opportunity to donate additional funds towards finding a cure!

MAGHOUND Gives You More Bang For Your Buck

Do you read alot of different magazines like my family does? If so and you would like to be able to receive different magazines each month with no long term commitment then check out MAGHOUND.

MAGHOUND is a monthly online membership service that allows you to choose, change and manage all of the magazines that are delivered to your house.

Here is how MAGHOUND works:

1. Choose how many magazines you would like to receive each month. They have different tiers and you pay based on that tier.

Premium Magazine Note : Some higher-priced magazines, about 10% of those offered, require a small additional charge per month. The charge is variable based on the magazine. Click here to learn more.

2. Search from hundreds of magazines by category or by the magazines title.

3. Manage your account online. Replace, cancel, or add new magazines anytime you wish. If in January you get a magazine and realize it is not for you then in February change your selection and get a new magazine. To me this is the best feature of MAGHOUND.

There are no hidden commitments and no obligation to continue. If you are not satisfied with MAGHOUND for any reason, you may cancel your membership anytime, online, 24 hours a day, with no cancellation fees.

Melinda and I were really excited when MAGHOUND contacted us to do a analysis of the service. We are HUGE magazine readers and probably get 8-10 magazines a month. Now with MAGHOUND we can try magazines that we normally wouldn’t have tried because with MAGHOUND we can change what magazines we get on a monthly basis. We do not need to worry about being locked into a yearly subscription of “Trailer Life”. Yes I said Trailer Life because Melinda and I are thinking about buying an RV one day.

So far MAGHOUND has worked out great for us. I was getting a weekly magazine that I realized was too much to read so all I had to do was sign into our account and delete my weekly magazine and replace it with a new magazine selection for the following month. It is really that easy.  MAGHOUND has a great selection of magazines including ones for the kids.

I also like the substitutes list feature of MAGHOUND. Because of varying publishing schedules, certain magazines do not print an issue for every calendar month. To make sure you get full value from your membership, you are given the optional benefit of creating a Substitutes List. Substitute magazines are mailed whenever any of your primary selections are not published in a given month. This is a great way to sample new titles without increased membership fees.

You can also give the gift of magaizes with MAGHOUND.  Purchase gift credit in any denomination, email or print options to notify recipient and the recipient creates/manages their own account.

With the holidays coming up MAGHOUND would make the perfect gift.

Want to win a $1,500 shopping spree in New York City? If so enter the MAGnificent Makeover sweepstakes below by clicking on the picture. Be sure to select Look What Mom Found…and Dad too! from the drop down when entering so we get a chance to win along with you.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes

Some of you may already know that we were invited to NYC this weekend help kick off the 2009 season of the Radio City Music Spectacular starring the Rockettes. This was a Mommy Blogger event that allowed us the chance to not just see the show but mingle with other bloggers, the Rockettes themselves, Santa while enjoying goodies from local businesses such as the famed Magnolia Bakery and Kate’s Paperie.

We had a last minute change of plans and the kids ended up not going with us so we invited our friends Tim and Kat. We knew we would still have a fabulous time with them and it would have been silly to let the tickets go to waste. Our trip up to NYC was a nightmare, traffic was at every turn it almost doubled our drive up there. We expected to have time to stroll around and grab a bite to eat, instead we quickly found parking ran through the streets found a local Irish Pub for a drink and snack then headed over to Radio City Music Hall. Even the entrance was magnificent, the lights were bright and the crowds were forming. We were running late for the preshow festivities but were still pleasantly greeted by doormen, elevator attendees and the staff running the event.

To our surprise there was a full spread of food and beverages, had we know we wouldn’t have stopped for a snack beforehand because those sliders were yum! We each got cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery; to be honest I wasn’t crazy about them, too dense and crumbly for my taste, I like light and fluffy and moist. We mingle with the Rockettes and I got to meet ComplicatedMama in the hallway. I’m assuming she recognized me or Rob but I was so excited. We had been tweeting during the ride to NY, she was filling me in on traffic details and her sweet parking deal, FREE. I was sad I didn’t get to meet ThetaMom, we were in different rooms and being late but a damper on the socializing.

When the preshow fun was done we were handed a bag of goodies and ushered into the theater. It was beautiful and filling up fast. We had great seats and the show quickly started. The lights, effects, music and performance were grand and I’m glad I will have that memory with me forever. My favorite performance was The 12 Days of Christmas. The routines these women must learn and memorize are incredible and I tip my hat to them. I hope our future Christmases will bring us as a family to NYC to see this show every year.

There is still time to see the show for yourself if you are in the area. Purchase select tickets for a 25% discount using the code DANCE. This code is valid till December 10th so hurry.
