Keep Cozy With St. Eve Suggestion

Chillin’ on the sofa or in her little recliner watching Coraline is Shae’s favorite new thing. Another new thing is “warm me up mommy”. I rub her arms she laughs then goes along her way just to come back a couple minutes later. Alouette Cheese, Transform Dinner With Cheese Ingredient

Valentine’s weekend was last week but Rob and I celebrated a couple nights in advance. We went to a local restaurant for prime rib and crabcakes where the portions are HUGE. With the help of Alouette we were able to turn cold leftovers into something decadent and inviting.

Alouette is a soft spreadable cheese with added flavors and ingredients like Creamy Onion and Shallot or Garlic and Herbs. The cheese is fantatic just dipped with crackers (I prefer Wheat Thins) and even better slightly melted over a juicy hunk of prime rib or steak. A quick hot sear of our leftover prime rib and a dollop of Alouette Spinach Artichoke spread and the meal was transformed into something completely new.

Don’t be fooled into thinking leftovers is all Alouette is good for. Try any of these unique recipes for a fantastic spin on everyday ingredients.

Beef Tenderloin with Creamy Alouette® Mushroom Sauce
Serves: 2
Ingredients
2 beef tenderloin steaks, 1½ inches thick (6 to 8 oz. each)
3 tsp. extra virgin olive oil, divided
1 tsp. butter
½ large shallot, thinly slivered
2 cups sliced baby Portobello mushrooms
¼ cup Alouette® Garlic and Herbs, or Alouette® Savory Vegetable Spreadable Cheese, or Alouette® Creamy Onion and Shallots Spreadable Cheese
½ cup milk
1 tsp. minced fresh parsley, if desired


Directions
Heat broiler.
Coat all sides of tenderloin with 1 tsp. of the olive oil. Place on broiler pan. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Broil 4 inches from heat for 6 minutes or until well-browned. Turn. Broil 6 to 8 minutes or until desired doneness.
Meanwhile, heat remaining olive oil and the butter in small skillet over medium heat.
Add shallot; cook 1 minute.
Add mushrooms. Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently.
Stir in Alouette®, adding milk to desired consistency. Heat just until warm.
Spoon sauce over tenderloins. Sprinkle with parsley.

As you can see many of the flavors complement some of the same ingredients. Don’t be scared to switch beef for chicken and mushrooms for asparagus, adding just a bit of Alouette in any flavor will brighten up any meal.

Eli’s Cheesecake Dessert

I scream, you scream, we all scream for cheesecake. Hmmmm, I don’t think that is how the saying really goes but in this case it does. Cheesecake is one of those desserts most people enjoy every once in a while so when you do finally enjoy a slice you want to make sure it is quality. This is where Eli’s Cheesecake comes in with a huge selection of quality all-natural no preservatives cheesecakes.  They have so many different cheesecakes to choose from that you will be able to find one that will suit your taste.

Eli Schulman was the mastermind behind Eli’s Cheesecake. Hailing from the West Side of Chicago, Eli started two restaurants before hitting the jackpot with his version of cheesecake. In 1977 cheesecake dessert hit the menu at Eli’s the Place for Steak. Following up on a suggestion from a customer about his dessert, Eli spent several weeks coming up with a recipe that would please everyone. Eli’s Cheesecake quickly became a marquee offering at Eli’s the Place for Steak. During the July 4, 1980 Taste of Chicago, Eli made his debut of his now-famous Chicago cheesecake.

When our Candy Crazy Cheesecake Sampler arrived I was pretty excited but nowhere near as excited as my kids. They wanted to know what kind of cheesecake we got, why we got it and when they could start to eat it. Later that night after dinner we finally opened the cheesecake and Shaun, Sabreena, Melinda and I each had a slice. Shaun and Sabreena went right for the chocolate peanut butter while Melinda and I each had a slice of the turtle trio. I am not a huge cheesecake person but I must admit this was a tasty piece of cheesecake. It was creamy, rich and tasted so delicious. Since last Friday I have eaten two pieces of cheesecake and for me that is a lot of cheesecake to eat in a weeks’ time.

If you want cheesecake that will not disappoint and live in Chicago visit Eli’s retail store at 6701 Forest Preserve Drive (at the corner of Forest Preserve Drive and Montrose). Snazzy Baby 3-in-1 Baby Carrier Recap

Snazzy Baby 3-in-1 baby carrier is the newest innovation in baby-wearing. More than just a carrier this particular item also works as a portable child seat in place of high chairs and a restraint for shopping carts. One key positive point is there is no need to remove your child from the harness to be able to switch function. It’s ‘click and go” system makes the transition smooth and comfortable for baby.

I’ve worn all 3 of our kids and have used all sorts of styles of carriers. The Snazzy Baby 3-in-1 baby carrier is unique, something I’ve never seen before. It’s made for children ages 4 months to 3 years old. I tested it out with Shae while she is under the recommended max weight. She thought it was hysterical to be facing out. She shook her body and kicked her legs and she wasn’t going anywhere unless she leaned too far forward, there was a good chance she was going to fall out. I believe this has a lot to do with her height. I know she is under the weight limit but her dangling legs got in the way of my own walking.

I like that the child sits off to the side rather right in front. This position gives mom and dad the ability to sit and push a cart or stroller or drink a cup of coffee without fear of hurting, bumping or spilling on babies’ head. I look forward to testing this out on my nieces very soon. They are almost at the right age where the head and neck control is needed for outward facing carriers. Something else that is a great feature for moms is the ability to breastfeed while never having to remove baby from carrier.

The “Click and Go” restraint system takes some getting used to but that goes with any new baby gear. The clips are color coded and the included instructional DVD shows you where to guide the straps and how it should wrap around yours and baby’s body. Valentine’s Day Party-Munki Munki Pajamas Evaluation

Munki Munki jammies are the epitome of cute, comfortable and whimsical while still being functional. Sexy doesn’t have to be skimpy and lacy, romance can be had with sock monkeys and cupcakes. Made from funky prints and paying attention to the little details Munki Munki has something to please any man in your life.

The Munki Munki designer grew up spending summers in Vermont, surrounded by soft vintage cotton bedding and linens, and lots of sunshine. Almost ten years ago, she took a pair of her favorite sheets to a mill to create a cotton fabric that felt as though it had been washed and hung on a clothesline one hundred times. It’s the perfect fabric for pajamas, especially when you add some whimsical prints. So by now you know how much I cherish and adore my family. Not just Rob and the kids but my parents, siblings, grandparents and extended family and friends too. I like to keep things around me that remind of them and my latest keepsake is my cuff charm bracelet from Charm Factory.

When I received my bracelet I was surprised at the size of the charms, I was expecting something really tiny based on the price but these are a great size; big enough to be seen but still small enough to be a true charm.

Their pewter charms are also nickel and lead free. Charm Factory products do not contain cadmium. The jump rings attached to pewter charms do contain a small amount of nickel.
