Celebrate Father’s Day with HHGregg and All Pro Dad

Shopping Kohls for Father’s Day Gifts

I’m easy to please. For Father’s Day I want to spend the day with my kids doing something fun. Homemade cards, a hearty breakfast and someone else to mow the lawn is really all I ask. This year I was tasked with finding other Father’s Day gift ideas at Kohls. Twist my arm!!

Melinda says I should step up my wardrobe a bit. I’m a super casual guy. Give me a tshirt and sneakers and I’m good for the day. I will be honest though, I’m making these outfits look good. I see what Melinda is talking about. This is a much better option for a date night or party with friends.

I headed right for the outdoor and seasonal section. With the warmer weather you’ll find me sitting on the deck or by the fire at night. This is the season when we hang with neighbors and family and I’m always looking for something to add to the yard. This wicker swivel rockers were on sale. They are still on my list.

Kohls is one of our favorite department stores. We know we can always find something for everyone for any occasion. I’m the outdoor guy and I found a really nice grill set and patio furniture.

My dad is the sports guy. Kohls know exactly how to stock their store with the right sports gear and clothing to please any fan.

For the chef dad (not me) Kohls has great deals on cookware, dinnerware and all the stuff needed to set a table.

No matter the budget, the personality and the style Kohls is going to have the just right gift for the dad in your life.

S’mores Cookies #recipe

In honor of the dad in our home, Rob, we came up with a treat for the nights we don’t get to spend by the fire. You see, we outfitted our yard with a firepit this spring, bought some chairs then bought some vintage furniture and are re-doing it and bought a hammock and got some tree stumps to act as tables so we have a cozy place to hang out as a family. Rob doesn’t like s’mores though. He’ll eat one but that’s it. He does love cookies so here are the S’Mores Cookies we made JUST FOR HIM.

It’s a pretty simple recipe actually. I started with my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and doctored it up with some mini marshmallows and a small chocolate piece if you’re trying to please a real chocoholic (Rob)when it was done baking.

S’mores Cookies (with extra chocolate)

Ingredients

graham crackers broken in half (almost whole box)
1 cup softened butter (2 sticks)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup mini marshmallows
broken up chocolate bars*

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cream butter and sugars together until smooth and fluffy.

Beat in eggs one at a time till combined then add vanilla.

In a small cup dissolve baking soda in 2 tsp of HOT water.

Add baking soda mixture and salt to batter, mix lightly.

Beat in flour till well combined.

Add chocolate chips and marshmallows and mix for a few seconds.

Arrange 1/2 graham crackers close together on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Drop rounded spoonfuls on graham crackers and bake for 9-12 minutes. This should leave you with a soft gooey center and oozing caramelized marshmallow.

*Top with a piece of chocolate bar(optional) and set aside to cool for 5 minutes and enjoy.

Store in an air-tight container for up to 5 days but are best eaten in the first 2 days.

Father’s Day is an often overlooked celebration; moms tend to get most of the credit for the good things happening in the home but in our house we don’t underestimate the power of dad. It’s Dad’s Day, Craftsman Tool Giveaway

How long is your Honey-Do list? You know that list that is tacked on the fridge of fix-its and other projects that need to be done around the house. On my list is; hang a picture, vacuum out the air vents near the ceiling, power wash the deck and refinish our end tables. Lands’ End Does Polo’s Right

I work in an office where I need cloths that look really nice but they don’t have to be to dressy like a shirt and tie because thankfully I am in a business casual setting where dress shirts with no tie and polo shirts are acceptable to wear with dress pants or kakis.

I recently had the opportunity to review the Lands’ End Original Mesh Polo and I am very happy with the polo shirt that I received. First thing that I noticed and was very happy about was that they offer tall sizes for guys like me who are over the six foot mark. Buying a 2XL tall makes all of the difference in the world and I don’t have to worry about the shirt shrinking because I bought just a regular 2XL. Another thing that I like about the Lands’ End Original Mesh Polo is they offer approximately 20 different colors from rich red to ice pink so there is a color to match everyone’s taste. I typically wear white or blue shirts but this time I stepped out of the box and got the light jade polo which looks really nice with black dress pants.

The Lands’ End Original Mesh Polo is definitely one of those Father’s Day gifts that any dad would love to receive. The polo’s are quality with a no-curl collar and strong buttons that won’t just fall off when buttoning. Finding good polo’s that will last at an affordable price is pretty hard but Land’s End makes it possible.

Early Father’s Day Gift

For Rob, Father’s Day came a little early. I presented him with a custom framed canvas of him and the kids from our Carnival Cruise family vacation last year.

What Are You Getting Your Dad For Father’s Day

In case you didn’t know Father’s Day is next Sunday and after visiting my local Wal-Mart on Friday I found a lot of cool electronics that I will be putting on my Father’s Day wish list.

Most dads are interested in electronic gadgets so why not get them a new HDTV, iPad 2 or even surround sound. These three items are on my Father’s Day wish list in additional to a new laptop. Every one of these items is available at Wal-Mart which is a good thing because there is one very close to my house that we shop at often. I’m not saying that I will get any of these items but at least Melinda and the kids know what I am interested in once Father’s Day rolls around.

I am a very technical person who is into gadgets so Melinda and the kids have a pretty easy time getting me gifts on Father’s Day but my dad wasn’t always so easy. I remember growing up never really knowing what to get my father for Father’s Day other then the same old tie and coffee cup. Now that he has gotten older he has become a little more technically advanced and into gadgets so it is a little easier to get him a gift now. Now that I know Wal-Mart has a huge electronics section that is where I will be shopping this Father’s day for my dad.

If you have a dad on your list that is into electronics like DVD’s, TV’s, gaming systems, etc be sure to check out Wal-Mart’s huge selection and you will certainly have a very happy dad this Father’s Day!

Dads across America are gearing up for their special day, Father’s Day. For the 2nd year in a row Sears Blue Tool Crew is announcing the “Unsung Heroes: Dads Making a Difference Contest”.
Ty Pennington and Sears wants to hear about those dads that are making a difference and making an impact on the community around them. Nominate an unknown, unsung heroes who use their tools AND talents together for the greater good of the community. Last year’s winner, Charlie Muller, converted a dilapidated building into a safe place to feed the poverty stricken children in Albany, NY.

Get your nominations in up intil June 10th. Then from June 20 – July 3, Americans will cast their votes for who they think is the most deserving dad. The winner will receive a visit from the Sears Blue Tool Crew with the tools and resources to bring their projects to life.
