Skype during Summer Travels

Our vacation plans this summer aren’t as extravagant as some other years but I’m making sure the kids and I squeeze in some fun before school starts. Rob has to stay behind due to some work obligations but I know for sure that he and the kids are going to be on Skype each night the week we are gone.

skype summer travels, infographicFive days is a long time for one of us to be away from the rest of the family so we make sure to stay connected through telephone of course but Skype chat offers such a better communication experience. Skype has gotten us through other situations too. Remember a couple years ago when Rob was working hours from home and sleeping at my parents. We would chat each night about what was going on and he was able to say goodnight to the kids.

Watching Rob’s initial reaction when I send him a picture of Shae and Shaun doing something fun is worth using Skype Messaging to send files. Now that my grandmother has a computer I’m sending her a webcam so we can chat and she can see her great grandkids grow up. She’s new to Facebook but I think because Skype is so simple to use she’ll get the hang of it and I’ll be hearing that fun Skype ringtone much more often.

Tell Her “Mom You Rock” with Skype

I’ve been picked as a Skype Ambassador. This means I get to show you all the cool features Skype has to offer that you may not have known about already.

I’m lucky that my mom only lives 5 minutes down the road. We visit each other often, have lunch, go shopping and get together for easy family dinners. There are talks of my grandmother getting a computer. I can’t wait to hear the details of it because I want to be able to talk more frequently with her. She lives far, Puerto Rico. We only get to see her every 2 years. I try to send cards and pictures and gifts but it isn’t the same as talking face to face even through a computer screen. Showing her how to use Skype is going to be one of the 1st things we do.
