Ultimate Holiday Wishlist-Vivabox Photo Art Experience Giveaway-CLOSED

vivabox is back with exciting new gifts just in time for the gift-giving holidays. Don’t know what a vivabox is?

A vivabox is an exciting new product that combines the freedom of choice with the personal touch of a real gift. This two layered gift can be the answer to all of your gift giving dilemmas. The first layer is a gift inside the box that is intended to familiarize the recipient with the product. The second layer is the gift card that can be redeemed for their gift selection from a menu of choices.

1. You Pick The Theme
Do you have an idea as to what type of gift someone would like? Select one of our themes that you think they would enjoy the most. This is the part that gives it a personal touch.

2. They Try The Samples
They open the box and enjoy the gift inside. Depending on the box this could be a gift to try, taste or use and they all relate to the theme of the box.

3. They Choose The Gift
After enjoying the first gift, the recipient visits this website and enters their card number. They will be taken through the redemption process where they choose their final present. This is where the freedom of choice happens.

Result: You have given a present they actually WANTED! The basic theme was chosen by you for a personal touch but the actual gift is customized by the recipient. This ensures that you have given what he or she will most enjoy. Plus, they got to experience the joy of receiving the perfect present for longer than ripping off the wrapping paper.

Vivabox wants to give LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers the chance to win one of their newest gifts, Photo Art Experience ($85 value) to either enjoy themselves or send to someone else. Visit Vivabox and tell me what other gift you would love to try for yourself.

Ultimate Holiday Wishlist – Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. Who doesn’t at least like ice cream let alone love it? Better yet who wouldn’t love making their own ice cream or frozen yogurt with the Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker.

When our Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker arrived for analysis I was super excited to break it open (not literally) and give it a try. I feel that I am a pretty handy and technical guy but man did this machine give me a little trouble during the assembly process. It took me about 15-20 minutes to assemble the machine.

Once assembled I figured all I needed to do was add the ingredients and viola ice cream. Nope. You actually have to freeze the freezer bowl (that is the actual name, DUH) for at least 12 hours but 24 would be better. I figured that was just a recommendation not a rule so I froze the freezer bowl for 6 hours prior to its maiden voyage. Bad idea because the freezer bowl needs a full 12-24 hours to freeze before use and because I didn’t follow directions my ice cream would not set up or freeze and it was just liquid. So a word to the wise, freeze the freezer bowl for 12-24 hours like stated. On my second attempt I froze the freezer bowl a full 24 hours and the ice cream came out like a champ. It was awesome and let me tell you it was good.

So lets get down to the nuts and bolts of the Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker:

  • Adds favorite mix-ins into soft serve ice cream as it’s dispensed!
  • Pull out tabs to add one, two or all three types of mix-ins
  • Pull down handle to dispense soft serve ice cream directly into cones or bowls
  • Makes 11⁄2 quarts of frozen dessert in as little as 20 minutes
  • Fully automatic – just add favorite fresh ingredients and turn the dial
  • Cone holder holds a stack of pointed or flat bottom cones
  • Double-insulated freezer bowl holds temperature for fast results
  • No chemicals, salt or ice required
  • Removable parts for easy cleaning
  • Instruction Book and Recipe Book included
  • Limited 3-year warranty

If you follow the directions like you should which I failed to do the first time you are going to get a tasty little morsel called ice cream that the whole family will enjoy.

Cuisinart is being generous with LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers by offering a giveaway of 1 Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker . Visit Cuisinart and tell me what other product you think you would like to try.

Ultimate Holiday Wishlist – Marshmallow Blaster Recapitulation

Are you are looking for a way to get that tasty marshmallow into your mouth faster? If you answered “YES” without thinking twice then you need to get a Marshmallow Blaster from Marshmallow Fun Company.

The Marshmallow blaster comes in three styles: classic blaster, camo blaster and the executive blaster. The Marshmallow Blaster holds one full size marshmallow at a time. All you have to do to load the blaster is pull and turn the handle and you are ready to load it with your soft and cushy marshmallow ammo. Pump the handle at the back of the blaster as much or as little as you want depending how far and hard your want your marshmallow to fly.

We received two of the classic blasters for analysis and let me tell you I am glad we did. As soon as they arrived I was ready for war but the first time it took me a few seconds to figure out how to open and load the blaster but then again I am not the sharpest tool in the shed. Once they were loaded up the war began. Well I guess it was a one sided war since we were just shooting Shae with marshmallows and she LOVED it.

The Marshmallow Blaster is great for kids and since they shoot just marshmallows they are a fun and safe alternative to other toy guns.

Marshmallow Fun Company is being generous with LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers by offering a giveaway of 1 Classic Marshmallow Blaster. Visit Marshmallow Fun Company and tell me what shooter you think your children would especially like.

Ultimate Holiday Wishlist – KeltyKids Carrier

Baby carrying isn’t a new fad. Its history goes back to some ancient cultures like South America, Egypt and Africa. Over the last 30 years there have been great strides in modernizing and streamlining baby carriers. While I have used many different types of carriers over the years the Kelty Kids framed carrier has been one of our favorites for day long events like sight-seeing in Washington DC, cold weather activities like an autumn night corn maze and vacations at the beach. The sizing allowed both Rob and I to wear it easily with simple adjustment and the roominess in the carrier pocket allowed the children to wear cold weather clothing with jeopardizing comfort and fit. It sometimes gets a bit heavy and hot but it’s the way to go for lots of walking

Kelty Kids is reintroducing their line of carriers for 2010 with a variety of new and innovative technologies to offer the safest, most comfortable, functional, and easy to use carriers available. All new for 2010 the framed and transit child carriers come with a waist belt torso length adjustment, providing a safe, comfortable, and custom fit for parents of any size. This improvement in torso length adjustment allows the child to ride lower, creating a lower center of gravity for better balance and comfort for the parent. The carriers come in three vibrant colors and contain many striking details that enhance the overall safety, function and aesthetics of the carriers.
Kelty’s Framed Carrier (FC) 2.0 features a padded, adjustable-height child seat, a ventilated cockpit, and a five-point adjustable harness to provide a comfy fit for growing kids. A patented auto-deploy kickstand makes loading and unloading safe, simple, and worry-free. 1150 cubic inches of storage space for diapers, snacks and extra clothing is divided between a roomy compartment behind the seat and a second compartment under the seat. Sun hood and changing pad sold separately. This carrier will retail for approx. $199.95 at participating retailers such as REI.com.

Whether you are planning a camping trip, a rigorous hike, cross country drive or tailgating with friends Kelty has products for all of these activities. KELTY is based in Boulder, Colorado, and uses the natural backdrop of the Rocky Mountains to test, create and continually innovate within their diverse outdoor product families of Apex, Backcountry, Trail, Basecamp and KIDS. Kelty combines the best in new technology with a healthy dose of common sense to create exceptionally made affordably priced outdoor products.

Dad’s Perspective: The price is steep but as the saying goes you get what you pay for.  The Kelty was a great investment and has lasted us many years compared to the many other different carriers we’ve bought, returned, sold, given away and traded.

Win a Kelty Kids FC 2.0 right here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Visit Kelty and tell me what other product would be perfect for your family and WHY.

Holiday Shopping at Borders with $100 GC-CLOSED

Borders has greatly expanded its toy and game offerings in its more than 500 superstores nationwide to include products from leading brands such as Melissa & Doug®, Creativity for Kids®, LEGO Systems, Inc, Playmobil, Scientific Explorer™, Chicco®, Battat®, Blue Orange Games®, ALEX® and many others. The expert buyers at Borders selected many of the toys and games because they play a role in promoting discovery, fostering creativity and helping build cognitive skills in youngsters, all of which are critical to developing good learning and reading habits-and a lifelong love of reading. Importantly, Borders knows that not all customers know what they want to purchase when faced with a variety of toy and game options, so the company is staffing the Children’s Department with a dedicated kids’ specialist, who can answer questions and make toy, game and book recommendations. (The specialists’ hours will vary by store.)

We were recently invited to take a peek at our local Borders location to see the changes that were made. We went as a family and spent over 2 hours reading and playing. Rob and I scoped out the extensive selection of gifts throughout the store and immediately I knew that Borders could easily become someone’s One-Stop Shop for the holidays. From music to movies to books to games and even fun finds like cute stationery and arts and crafts kits can be found littered throughout the entire store. It was a bit overwhelming actually because everywhere I turned I saw something new.

We ended up shopping for Shaun and Shae; Up the movie, Dora books, Legos, an adorable Mister Men/Little Miss game and more. We spent close to the $100 gift card that we were supplied and I felt that with the in-store sales going on we did pretty well.

Border’s wants you to see the great things they are bringing to the stores. Win one of two $100 gift cards right here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Visit Borders and check out their new Toys and Games section.  Let me know what toys and games you played with as a child and why they would be great for today’s youth.

Everyday Minerals Cosmetics-Closed

As a SAHM I don’t get many chances primp and pamper myself. What I do love and consider special time alone is when it’s time to apply make-up for date night or hanging out with friends. I made the switch a couple years ago to mineral makeup and I’m hooked. I love the natural feel and look I get from just using a handful of products.

The 2nd mineral company I went to was Everyday Minerals. I’ve stuck with them because I’ve never had a problem with itching and redness like I did with another brand. Everyday Minerals contacted me a couple weeks back and asked if I would be interested in review their products. I quickly responded that I was already a HUGE fan and actually had reviewed them on my own a while back. I received a great selection of goodies, some that I choose myself and some that were a surprise.

I decided to add the new products to what I already owned and do a quick before and after to show you how they transformed my face in about 5 minutes. I’ll let you what I’m wearing and in what order I applied them and with what bamboo brush I used.

After moisturizing and letting that dry I apply using the Foundation Brush, Abbott’s Perk Me Up Concealer under my eyes, around my nose and right at my upper lash line. This helps to even out the circles and slight redness and dullness on my skin. I used to use Lavender Color Corrector for under my eyes but Abbott’s Perk Me Up seems to be doing a great job and pulling double duty.

My next step is my base. With the Long Handled Kabuki I apply Medium Beige Neutral all over my face onto my neck and under my ears. I brush this powder in a circular motion haphazardly everywhere paying attention to my eyes and around my mouth. I’ve been known to do this step without a mirror and just brushing all over my face, there really is no margin of error. Cheek color is next. Using my new Angled Blush Brush I this time applied a tiny bit of Corner Office for a hint of color.

Eyes are my favorite part of my face because I love all the fun colors I can use. This particular night we were just going for a quick dinner so kept it toned down a bit but you can usually find me in purples, greens and even blues. Using the Eye Kabuki Brush I tapped Comfy over my lids then added a bit of Morocco with the Dome Blending Brush to the outer edges. I then used Everyday Eye Smudge Brush for a touch of Oasis to add a bit of shimmer under my brow.

Eyeliner goes on last. I’ve never used powder liner before this night so this was kinda an experiment too. I was sent Postcards Eyeliner which is described as a medium gray-green. I would say it was more of a dark gray with hints of metallic olive green. I used a very very stiff skinny tipped brush to apply just at the lash line. It went on easy and stayed put for the next couple hours. My only problem was I must have spilled a little on my vanity so then all the containers were smudged with dark eyeliner powder.

My last step was applying my lips. I normally don’t go for lots of color so I first applied Rose, Cardamom and Orange lip balm then swept on Sweet Berries lip gloss.

I’m done and doing all of this took me between 4-5 minutes. Loose powder application for all over the face might take some getting used to but I think it has greatly reduced my time spent applying cosmetics. The eyeliner application will take a few more tries to perfect but I think for my first time it went well.   I’ve had great success using Everyday Minerals, while I do add items from other brands Everyday Minerals is my go to especially for base, concealer and eyes.

At Everyday Minerals you’re able to try out some of their great colors for FREE. Choose one of their Try Me Free collections for free with the purchase of any order or for just $5 on their own. Everyday Minerals prices make it easy to try different trends and shades without breaking the bank.

Every month, Everyday Forward picks a national or international charity with a focus on women’s issues. This charity will benefit from the proceeds of a particular product. This month the product is B&B, a cheek color that gives a warm glow for any skin color. The charity this month is Kiva.org, an organization that helps finance entrepreneurs around the globe.

Dad’s Perspective: The products seem to last a long time and are priced really good compared to the other brand she used to use.
