We used our bag recently for a day full of shopping. The internal changing pad came in really handy for those times that changing tables weren’t available. I was able to use dressing rooms with ease and privacy. Diapers and wipes are easily accessible when the bag is open so there is no reaching around searching for exactly what is needed. The pockets are large and plentiful enough store diapers, wipes and a change of clothes and all the other necessities for your little one. The included stroller straps came in handy so the bag could easily be attached and kept out of the way when not needed. I was also able to store my baby carrier in the bungee strap on the outside of the bag. This left the stroller basket free for purchases. I’m using the past few days of FANTABULOUS weather as inspiration. The sun was shining, the kids were outside playing and the central air was running.

One of the greatest things about having young kids is the sweet clothing that can be found. Dressing my kids in innocent and endearing clothing makes me feel like they will stay little forever.

SoundSleep for Babies and Moms

I’m a person that prefers noise to fall asleep; my kids are the same way. Whether it’s a fan or the television or music softly playing any background noise is comforting to me. Shae and Shaun both go to sleep with music each night and Sabreena has a bonus of having a noisy dehumidifier in the basement bedroom.

I was recently sent the SoundSleep for Babies CD from Sound Science. Using advanced WombEffect Technology this CD uses actual womb recordings the sounds that babies hear while in mommy’s belly but with quiet relaxing music in the backdrop. Shae’s usual bedtime routine is quick. She get a minute or two of rocking then wants to get in her crib. I thought maybe she was just a little cuddlier that night so I tried it again the next night. This time I put my head back and felt very relaxed, not necessarily sleepy but I felt calm and cuddly right with her. I’m not sure if Shae remembers the sounds of the womb but I do think this CD is soothing and calming and she feels that.

Olives and Applesauce Baby Carrier

I’m a baby wearer; well I used to be anyway. With Sabreena and Shaun all I knew about carriers were the Baby Bjorn style. But when I was pregnant with Shae I learned there was so much more out there in terms of comfort, color, purpose and style.

My favorite baby carrier when she was an infant was a Peanut Shell sling. It cradled her tight and she always fell asleep. I was then introduced to a Moby Wrap. I used it all the time; the park, the beach, apple picking, the mall. It was fabulous until I started worrying that the material was too stretchy under her growing weight. My holds didn’t feel as secure as they once did so I stopped using it. I then periodically used a Didymos wraparound sling, same concept at the Moby but no stretch. This style didn’t work for me, it was probably user error though because my arms would fall asleep if I tried the back carry. So this winter there was no baby-wearing for me.

The heavens must have had pity on me and realized my sadness because I was sent a full buckle mei tai carrier from Olives and Applesauce. First I want to say how much I love this stunningly gorgeous fabric. Second, it is so well padded that the straps didn’t twist and dig the way another not-worthy enough to be mentioned Mei Tai did when Shae was only 20lbs. The greatest bonus for me was being able for the 1st time to put her on my back with no assistance. Shae and I ran some errands on Saturday and each time I got her out of the car I strapped her to my back instead of grabbing the stroller. She wrapped her little arms around me the entire time like that was where she was supposed to be. I thank Olives and Applesauce for a fabulous design and bringing me back to baby-wearing.

Like most mommy-friendly products out there, Olives and Applesauce was born out of necessity. Being a new mom, Caren (mother of Olives and Applesauce) found herself constantly holding her 1st son and letting the world pass her by. When a friend introduced her to baby-wearing she soon realized that life didn’t have to the way it was. She quickly got back into a routine of living with her son close by and hasn’t turned back since. And with baby #3 on the way life is only going to get more hectic but all is good when her boys are close to her heart.




Product Rave-Bee Bop Music Toy Set

Musical Instruments are great toys for children of all ages. My youngest daughter received the Bee Bop Music Toy Set from Target. The phrase good things come in small packages is defintely true in this case. The drum acts as the carrying case for the other bug themed instruments; drumsticks, ladybug xylophone, bumblebee maracas, caterpillar tambourine and bug bell shaker. The set is colorful and inviting and can also be worn so that your little one can lead the parade with his one man band. A big bonus with this toy is the fact that it isn’t loud at all, the instruments jingle and shake and thump but at a reasonable noise level. I could probably even make a phone call while she was playing.
