Update from Orlando and IZEAFest

Melinda and I have been in Orlando, Florida since Thursday for IZEAFest and we are having an AWESOME time. I knew we would have a great time but this is so much better then we thought. The weather in Orlando is great, the hotel is super nice and IZEAFest is very informative.
On Friday at IZEAFest we had a ton of great speakers like Ted Murphy(@tedmurphy) who spoke about Developing Your Brand, Brian Clark (@copyblogger) who spoke about Strategies That Work and much more. After we wrapped up the day on Friday we headed back to the hotel and got ready to head out for some dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings then for a sponsored event at Ice Bar Orlando (@icebarorlando). If you ever get a chance to attend the Ice Bar Orlando do it. It is a great experience that most people normally wouldn’t do but it was such a cool experience I am glad we did. Today we started the day with an awesome keynote speaker Aaron Brazell (@technosailor) about Marks of an Influencer. It was a great speech on how to make your mark on the social media world as an influencer which really struck home and now I am going to strive to be an influencer. We have a ton more awesome speakers today and tonight their is a scavenger hunt called IZEAHunt which I am participating. The team name is “The Boogie Crew” and my team is made up of Greg from Telling Dad, Erin from The Mom Buzz, Susan from Life in a House of Blue and Melinda. IZEAHunt is going to be awesome and we are looking forward to it.

So far IZEAFest is terrific and I am glad Melinda and I made the effort to attend. We have met a ton of great people in person finally which is really cool. I will do another update in a day or two after IZEAHunt tonight and Sea World which we are going to tomorrow. So far we are having the best time.

As many of you know and are probably tired of hearing, we are trying to go to IZEAFest 2009.

IZEAFest is an interactive event designed to educate, inform and connect social media enthusiasts. Meet the world’s foremost social media experts in a collaborative, fun and open setting. Learn how to grow your traffic, build your brand and make more money online. It’s being held in Orlando, FL, October 1-4. As of today it’s only 50someodd days away, that’s not a lot of time especially when we are trying to line up sponsors to help us financially to get both Rob and I there. I mean while it would probably be fine for just one of us to go it would be SOOOOOO much fun for us both to go since we both contribute so much to the site.

BenSpark is running a contest for some tickets (and cool prizes). He went to IZEAFest last year so it makes sense that he would have some good knowledge about the ins and outs and tips and tricks to make the event that more enjoyable. He lists the Top 10 Reason To Go To IZEAFest 2009. I agree with all of his reasons but I have to add my own, FUN. I totally get the education and networking side of it and those are the main reasons we want to go but if I thought it was going to be a dull, stuffed shirt, clock-watching conference I wouldn’t have given it a second thought. We want to meet other bloggers, especially the friends we’ve made over the last few months plus the bloggers we don’t yet know we love. We want to network with Marketers and PR reps to establish relationships that will later bring cool content to our site and traffic to theirs. While we didn’t get into blogging to get rich, a few bucks here and there would be pretty sweet too, so some education on money-making will be good for us.
Another thing BenSpark talks about is 10 Essential Items For IZEAFest 2009. He’s got some great items on his list, lots of things that make sense, camera, mini-video camera, business cards, etc. We couldn’t think about going without our BlackBerries! We can tweet, check ESPN (it will be football season), blog, email, update Facebook, text, take pics, take video, update the Cozi grocery list and do math all on the same device. That’s my addition to Ben Sparks handy dandy must-have list.

My Top 10 Reasons I am Excited to Stay Home with My Family This Coming Weekend.

You can safely assume that I’m not going to BlogHer since I’m sitting on my couch watching The Fashion Show instead of schmoozing with other blogger mommies. I’m not having a pity party or anything in fact Rob and I are both planning on attending Izeafest in October. Cozi, a super cool and easy to use online organizational tool, is sponsoring 15 mommy bloggers WITH $100 EACH! To participate I have to tell you my Top 10 Reasons I am Excited to Stay Home with My Family This Coming Weekend. Look at my gorgeous kiddos, this is going to be easy peasy!

  1. After a week caring for someone else’s children’s I am glad to just be with mine.
  2. With Rob’s hectic schedule the weekends are our time to live a normal life.
  3. Mealtime isn’t rushed through, we are able to eat together, slowly and chat.
  4. We can eat a real HOT breakfast, not cereal or bagels.
  5. I can lounge in bed in the morning with the kids and watch cartoons with them.
  6. We get to spend time with the grandparents that we rarely get to see!
  7. Shae is learning new things each day, I can’t miss that.
  8. Work with my Dad on getting his Cozi grocery/shopping list organized for his & Shae’s duo birthday party.
  9. Catching up on being a couch potato with Rob, watching Deadliest Catch and Hell’s Kitchen.
  10. Spend time on our new Cozi account to get better organized for our upcoming vacation(it’s compatible with our crackberrys LOL)

Looking For IzeaFest 2009 Sponsorship

Hopefully you have noticed that our blog is different, LookWhatMomFound and PeanutButterandSmelly’s Dad have changed; we are now the husband and wife blogging team behind Look What Mom Found…and Dad too! Melinda started her blog in November 2008 and Rob started his in March 2009 and we never imagined they would be so successful. With our recent blog merger the outpouring of support from our readers and sponsors has been wonderful. As you know blogging has been a great way for us to introduce our readers to great products and services as well as meet some other motivating bloggers.

There is a very cool blogging conference coming up October 1st- 4th in Orlando, FL called IzeaFest. IzeaFest is an interactive event designed to educate, inform and connect social media enthusiasts such as Bloggers and Tweeters. As a blogger this event will help us learn how to grow our site’s traffic and help us build our brand and make our site the best that is can be. We feel this will be beneficial for our sponsors (YOU) as well as ourselves as it will bring more traffic to articles, reviews and giveaways as well as more traffic to your site.
