Fantasy Jewelry Box $75 GC Giveaway – CLOSED

I have a special place in my heart for pretty jewelry. I’m not talking just diamonds and precious gems but all types of jewelry. Fantasy Jewelry Box has that mix of fun, funky, classic and trendy jewelry at affordable prices.

I was given the opportunity to pick a couple pieces to review for myself. I picked this Oval Green Turquoise Bangle; it’s unlike anything I’ve ever worn but there was something about it that really drew me in. The size of the bracelet itself is a little bit snug but the stone and vintage details are perfect for everyday wear or dressed up with additional simpler bangles.

Earrings are always a problem with me; I love to wear them but my ears don’t like them. I’ve been wearing Jet Black CZ leverback earrings for a couple weeks with no discomfort or redness. Black stones aren’t something I would normally go for but I’ve gotten compliments on them.

Fantasy Jewelry Box has a complete selection of Red Carpet inspired, sterling silver, bridal sets and costume jewelry for all types of occasions. Dazzle your guests with wedding jewelry to coordinate with the gown but also have enough funds to adorn your bridal party with a fabulous cocktail ring or chandelier earrings. Birthdays and mother’s day just got easier with affordable heirloom style cameo brooches and designer inspired pendants. Fantasy Jewelry Box is a collection of ultra fabulous pieces to mix and match with what you already own at affordable prices.

Win a $75 GC to Fantasy Jewelry Box here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Take a peek around and tell me what piece or pieces you would love to own or gift to someone else.

Why Didn’t I Think Of Making These Things?

A few weeks ago Shaun asked me could we go to the store to buy Silly Bandz. My first comment was what the heck are Silly Bandz because this was the first time I was ever hearing about these things? Shaun told me they were rubber bands that you wore and when you weren’t wearing them they turned into things like animals, cars, shapes and a whole bunch of other stuff.

It was a Sunday afternoon and I told Shaun we could go buy some. I told him he needed to pay for them so he went to his room got some money from his piggy bank. Shaun told me his friends got theirs at the Dollar Store and 7-11 so off we went. 7-11 sounded weird to me so we headed to the Dollar Store but the lady told me they don’t sell them but try AC Moore which we did and found sports Silly Bandz because every other kind was sold out. The lady at AC Moore told me they are so popular they sell out within hours of getting them in. I am assuming since they had sports ones left no body liked those but Shaun wanted some so bad those are the ones he got. At first I was going to make Shaun pay for them thinking they would only be a few bucks and he could pick up the tab. Heck no those things were $5 for 24 bandz how crazy is that? A few days later while getting coffee at 7-11 what do I see at the checkout, Silly Bandz. Well, not Silly Bandz but a knockoff that looks just like the real thing so I picked up another pack for him.

Shaun loves his rubber bracelets things and the other day asked could he take his outside because kids in the neighborhood were trading. These things are extremely popular and I am not sure why but they are so popular they are being band from school because they distracting the kids. I was reading an article this morning that schools in New York, Texas, Florida and Massachusetts have told students not to wear them to school. It is crazy how the simplest little piece of rubber can gain so much popularity but this is just like anything else, a fad which in a few months to a year will end and I will be throwing them away in the trash wondering what happened to the Silly Bandz.

Are your kids into Silly Bandz?

My Story Necklace from Simon and Lucy GIVEAWAY-CLOSED

Family is so important to me. My kids, my husband, my parents, my siblings and my new little nieces mean the world to me. My new “My Story Necklacepersonalized jewelry from Simon and Lucy represents all of these parts of my life in one lovely piece of jewelry.

Simon and Lucy was born out a mom’s desire to create something that represented the things that were most cherished to her; her children. With some hand-me-down tools and a bit of inspiration simple metal shapes and stamps are transformed into family trees and keepsakes.

I was given the opportunity to review a custom “My Story Necklace”. I give up some information about life and those that fill it and the jewelry was designed just for me. Each tag signifies something a little different.

  • Letter B for our last name and then the years of our anniversary and the kid’s birth
  • MomMom for my mother, she’s a very significant part of my children’s lives
  • A beautiful disaster of my the kid’s names, nieces names, my dad, grandfather and grandmother
  • My birthstone
  • Me and my siblings

It’s jingly sound is a pretty but casual touch to everyday. I’ve been stopped and asked what it was and asked to explain each tag and word and their meanings. The “My Story Necklace” is a unique option for mother’s and grandmother’s jewelry.

Strapped Belts blings out 2010 Olympic US Women’s Alpine Skiers

He always had a love for art but when life left him “strapped” for cash John Frechette was forced to change direction and a new passion was born. Strapped Belts is the result; a store built around fused glass belt buckles, earring, cufflinks and other accessories.

Based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Frechette was lucky enough to work with training Olympiads Hailey Duke, Sarah Schleper and Megan McJames. These Team USA Women’s Alpine Skiers were in town getting in some last minute training before their events this week. Strapped Belts hooked up the ladies with great pieces such as belt buckles, rings and earrings. Sticking around for a photo shoot and a tour of the studio the women were excited for the fab gifts

(photos credits to Kelli Baxendale)

I got the chance to ask Strapped Belts owner/designer a couple questions
What inspires you each day to create something different than the day before?
The craziest things give me ideas. TV, Magazines, and lots come from friends and fans!

What were you feeling working alongside US Olympic Athletes?
It was really great. I have been an athlete all my life (nothing close to the Olympics, but I played Hockey all through college) and it made my heart race to think about the opportunity these women have, and how hard they have worked to earn it and be at the Olympics.

If given the chance what winter sport would you choose to train in for the next winter games.
I have tried with hockey and that didn’t work! I think I would be a snow boarder in the half pipe!

Today is a big day for Women’s Alpine Skiing, it the start Giant Slalom. Lets wish them the best and maybe their Strapped Belts trinkets will work as good luck charms.

Shop Strapped Belts for unique and funky jewelry and accessories and use coupon code OLYMPICS for 25% off your total order.

Valentine’s Day Party-Skinny Jewelry

Who doesn’t LOVE jewelry? My favorite items are necklaces and bracelets but Sabreena likes rings. She fell in love with Skinny rings after leafing through a magazine. Skinny is a collection of fashion jewelry that makes a statement and is sure to please your Valentine.

Tired of the ho-hum, hum-drum, blah stuff some designers are calling jewelry? Skinny has stylish options to fit into any wardrobe, any event, any fashion. Sabreena keeps it simple with fashion; jeans and tees but shows her personality with jewelry. Rings are her go-to accessory and she definitely likes color and sparkle. She picked out a Silver/Turquoise Paisley Domed Ring, blue is her favorite color. It goes perfect with her “everyday outfit” but even looks great when she’s dressed up in a sweater. She’s also wearing a Oval Stackable Solitare Ring on her left hand.

Skinny has been featured in fashion and lifestyle magazines as well as spotted on celebrities such as Rihanna and Camilla Belle. Their collection showcases unique locket necklaces adorned with Swarovski crystals as well as charmed bangles. All pieces are made to order and are individually finished and assembled with care in Los Angeles, California. Due to the nature of stones and hand-crafted work, they may differ slightly in shape and/or color from the picture on the site. However, each piece is picked to reflect the highest quality possible. All gold plating is 18K gold, silver color plating is nickel plated, and all crystals are genuine Swarovski crystals if notated. The metals used are pewter, zinc or brass underneath.

I have a great giveaway from Skinny. Win 3 gold-toned Oval Solitaire Stackable Rings ($22 value EACH) like the one pictured here. Visit Skinny and tell me another piece of jewelry you would love to own or gift to someone else.

Valentine’s Day Party-Charm Factory Bracelet Examination

So by now you know how much I cherish and adore my family. Not just Rob and the kids but my parents, siblings, grandparents and extended family and friends too. I like to keep things around me that remind of them and my latest keepsake is my cuff charm bracelet from Charm Factory.

To me Valentine’s Day isn’t only about romance with your significant other it’s about expressing your feelings and emotions about everyone you love. When I was putting together my bracelet I knew I wanted something that when I wore it would remind me of those that I love. I’m wearing the sterling cuff with 3 charms, each representing something special in my life

  • Clover with a green crystal-this is for my Irish grandmother who passed away very suddenly last April, I think of her all the time.
  • Family Tree-this is for everyone one else near and far. Even though I don’t see them often they are still in my heart.
  • Mother in many languages-this is my number 1 title, the one that gets me up in the morning and keeps me going all day. I do it all for my babies.

Charm Factory has such a huge assortment of silver charms, beads and tags and bracelets that the combination possibilities are endless. When I received my bracelet I was surprised at the size of the charms, I was expecting something really tiny based on the price but these are a great size; big enough to be seen but still small enough to be a true charm.

Charm Factory boasts a great detail about their business, *MADE IN THE USA. Their charms and beads are .925 sterling silver and manufactured in the United States, all lead and nickel free. Their pewter charms are also nickel and lead free. Charm Factory products do not contain cadmium. The jump rings attached to pewter charms do contain a small amount of nickel.
*A few imports that we do not make here, like enamel charms and some chains, are noted in product details.

Want a Charm Factory bracelet or necklace for yourself?  Win a $25 GC to design your own piece of jewelry or something for someone you love. Visit Charm Factory and tell me 3 charms you would choose.

Valentine’s Day Party-Lisa Leonard Jewelry

How do you express your feelings to the one you love? How about a sweet piece of sterling silver jewelry that says LOVE all over it? Lisa Leonard is an artist that handcrafts, hammers, polishes, drills and assembles as collection of beautiful, sentimental and emotional jewelry.

I received my Lots of Love Necklace a couple weeks back. The moment I opened it I gasped a little and said “How lovely”. Those were the exact words out of my mouth; cute wasn’t the right word but fabulous sounded pretentious, lovely is the perfect description. The tag is stamped multiple times with the word love along with a little heart then a pearl charm hanging next to it. It’s delicate without being dainty and casual enough or everyday but also elegant for date night.
Since High School Lisa has been making jewelry but decided when her 1st child was born she wanted to do something different, something that let her be a mom first but still provides an income. This courageous step has not only brought great success but significant connections with women all over the world. Her business exists and thrives because she produces beautiful pieces that get noticed at the grocery store, coffee shop, office and everywhere in between.

I chose my necklace from Lisa’s inspired line. This is where you’ll find pieces with meaning like a tag that says “I hold your heart in mine” or a formed skeleton key to give someone the key to your heart. Lisa also has a large selection of custom options to add names, birthdates, words or initials. Each piece is custom made and with space and time allowed Lisa is able to accommodate lots of different requests.

One of my other favorite pieces is the Open Circle Bracelet. Customized on both sides of the circle with the names or phrase of your choice on a sturdy sterling chain this is something that will catch eyes and the signature dangling pearl is a sweet feminine touch. Don’t be fooled by all the “pretty things”, Lisa also designs items for men. I’ve been trying to get a personalized keychain for Rob for many years but each time he balks. I don’t think he understands how powerful a feeling he would feel every time he looked at the personal inscription to Daddy. His birthday is coming up; maybe this is the year I do it anyway.

Win a $50 Gift Certificate to help you choose that perfect piece for yourself or someone you love. Visit Lisa Leonard and tell me what other piece of jewelry you love that was NOT mentioned above.

Trying to follow Trends on Etsy

Etsy is one of my most favorite shopping sites. I admire the extreme talent of all the artists and crafters listed and try to support them as much as I can. I’m listing today a few trends that I really like but I doubt I could pull off.

Pretty Peacock Shop-peacock and organza flower headband
I LOVE these colors and the combo of the peacock feather and flower but I’m not sure I can confidently pull this off, I’m sure Sabreena could though.

A StashOlive-teal-brown crocheted and felted necklace with flower
Again the colors are drawing me in but I don’t know if the beads are something I can wear. The flower is absolutely beautiful and I’ve always been intrigued by the felting process.

MesTroisSoeursGeometric print leggings
The design and texture is cool and would look great with a tunic or long sweater but having short legs is a deterrent from wearing leggings or colored tights. These are something that Sabreena could easily pull off.

Etsy Finds-holding on to summer

Tomorrow is Back-to-School for our kids, that means the unofficial end of summer. That also means I’m going to try my hardest to hold onto summer for as long as possible. Etsy is my place to go to find all kinds of things for any theme. These are a few things that I found that really remind me of what summer is all about.

Imagine Glass Studio has this fabulous watermelon serving dish.  Serve up a juicy sweet fruit salad in this sweet brightly colored glass dish.

Nothing says summer to kids like dandelions blowing in the wind.  Paper Moth produces striking illustrations with a contemporary feel.  This one is titled Early Summer Evening.

The Seabreeze Locket Necklace  from Bina Geyer would go perfect with that fabulous summer dress for a walk on the beach or night on the town with the girls.
