Loving My AVEENO Men’s Collection

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Dad Central Consulting for AVEENO. I received product samples and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

I have thought about growing a full beard so many times just so I wouldn’t have to shave anymore because I hate shaving that much. Unfortunately my last job required me to shave daily which was a total drag because my neck is super sensitive so shaving every day really irrated my skin.  I  have tired almost every single men’s skin care product on the market and recently I received the Aveeno Men’s Collection to try out and so far I am really enjoying it.

I think the reason why I love the Aveeno Men’s Shave Gel so much is because of its active naturals oat formula that is designed to help prevent razor bumps, nicks and cuts.  I have been using it for about 2 weeks so far and I can say I have not cut myself shaving like I used to with my old shaving cream every single time I would shave.  The Aveena Men’s Shave Gel also contains Vitamin E and Aloe to protect and sooth skin while shaving which is awesome as my skin needs all the protection that it can get.

I also really love the Aveeno Men’s Face Wash.  I typically was my face 3 to 4 times a daily and my face is very sensitive and breaks out easy but it hasn’t since using the Aveeno Men’s Face Wash which I am extremely happy about.

Overall I am very happy that I was sent the Aveeno Men’s Collection because it has been the best thing for my skin.  Shaving used to be something that I would avoid at all costs but I no longer dread it like I used to.

Have you ever used any Aveeno shaving products? If so what are your thoughts on Aveeno?

DOLE Fruit Crisps, Dessert or Snack?

The fruit cup has come a long way. My kids still love diced peaches and orange segments packed in their lunch but we’ve been introduced to new flavors and combinations recently with DOLE Fruit Crisps.

Recently we had family and friends over to celebrate Rob’s birthday. I took that moment to introduce them all to new Dole Fruit Crisps. I knew they would be a great snack for kids but I wanted to give the adults something different to try on that didn’t feel like a kids snack. I popped a couple in the microwave for a few seconds and out came a delicious warm treat that no one was expecting.

Apple Cinnamon, Apple Pear and Peach all come in convenient single serve cups with a healthy portion of sweet crunchy granola to top with. Our guests were pleasantly surprised and all agreed that these would make a better dessert alternative to ice cream, cookies or cake.

While the adults enjoyed themselves over good food we talked about other shortcuts we take as busy parents. Some of us shop for convenience foods to pack in kids lunches, some of us bulk cook on weekends to make weeknight mealtime easier. When moms and dads get together we tend to share not only our mishaps and mistakes as parents but also the ways to make our lives simpler and less stressful.

The night ended with a Peach Dole Fruit Crisp inspired cocktail for me and Rob.
Peach Cocktail
In 2 rocks glasses I smashed about a tbls of diced peaches each and then added ice. I poured into each glass 1 ounce of Vanilla Vodka and 2 ounces of Peach Juice and 1 ounce of Ginger Ale. It was a sweet ending to a great night with great food and fun with those that we love.

P-Touch Tough Test-It Challenge – FOLLOW UP!

Some of you may know that I was selected to be a part of the P-Touch Tough Test-It Challenge back in August 2011 where I was asked to show how tough and durable Brother P-Touch labels were in the bedroom and playroom. If you want to check out my two original posts click HERE and HERE.

Seven months have past and the labels are still holding tough with zero problems at all.  Melinda and I labeled ALL of her craft items so that they were easier for her and the kids to find.  Everything is still in place and the labels haven’t faded or peeled at all which is totally awesome.

After I realized how durable the labels were I actually labeled a lot of my garage items so that I could be more organized which has been a huge help.  I figured if these labels could withstand my abuse in the garage they could withstand abuse anywhere.

Overall I am extremelly happy that I had a chance to review the Brother P-Touch Label Maker and am a little more organized because of it.

Labels that Last – Brother P-Touch

Some of you may know that I am part of the P-Touch Tough Test-It Challenge and if not you can read my original post HERE.  My room that I was assigned for this challenge was the bedroom and playroom.  Being that I have three kids and a niece who are always playing and wanting to do crafts I focused mainly on the playroom.

About two months ago we reorganized all of our craft supplies so that they were easier to find and when I say we I mean Melinda because all I did was put the cabinet that we bought for the craft stuff together.  After getting everything reorganized Melinda took the time to label everything with the Brother P-Touch Label maker so that when Sabreena, Shaun or Shae go into the cabinet for an item it is easy for them to find.  Having everything labeled allows them to find what they are looking for with ease so that they won’t destroy the cabinet in the process.

Melinda labeled all of these craft items about two months ago as you can see from the below pictures and those labels are still in place today which to be honest I was surprised.  Our kids and niece tend to be extremely rough so I thought after about a week Melinda would be replacing the labels but those labels haven’t and aren’t going anywhere.  To me this is a testament to the quality of the P-Touch label maker because if those labels can stand up to the daily abuse of a 2 and 4 year old they can withstand all most anything.

I am extremely happy to have had the opportunity to be a part of this challenge and Brother passed with flying colors.  I like the quality of the Brother P-Touch so much I actually started using it in the garage so that I could label my stuff so items are easier for me to find.

I know some people might think labeling your items is weird but trust me try it and you will be glad you did but be sure to use the Brother P-Touch label maker if you are looking for quality and long last labels.

Get Your Vitamin C With Emergen-C

I have been taking vitamins for about three to four years so it is only seems natural that the kids should take vitamins as well. The kids get a gummy multi vitamin and a gummy fiber vitamin and we just recently starting adding Emergen-C to the mix. The kid’s loves getting their vitamins and if for some reason Melinda or I forget to give them their vitamin they are sure to let us know.

Recently we receive Emergen-C Kidz Vitamin C supplement in grape, orange and fruit punch flavor. Emegen-C Kids Vitamin C provided the kids with 250mg of vitamin C per serving. All you do is mix one packet with 4-6oz of water and mix. The kids do drink orange juice but to me there is no such thing as to much vitamin C.

Right now if you can be sure to take the Emergen-C Pledge which states you will try to follow and provide a healthy lifestyle for you and your children. For every box of Emergen-c they sell they will donate 25 cents to Vitamin Angels which will help reduce childhood mortality worldwide by providing essential nutrients.

Emergen-C is a great addition to any vitamin or non vitamin regimen. So far my kids are enjoying it and how it tastes which is great because my kids love the taste and I love its nutrition value.

P-Touch Tough Test-It Challenge

We are big into organization in our house and luckily I am currently involved in the Brother P-Touch Tough Test-It Challenge.  The P-Touch Tough Test-It Challenge is to show how tough and durable Brother P-Touch labels are.  I recently received my extreme test kit which included:

  • P-touch label samples
  • Plexi glass block
  • Nail Polish remover
  • Travel size bleach with palm brush
  • scrubber sponge
Here is my video showing how well the P-Touch label stood up to rough conditions

Stay tuned for further posts on how Melinda and I use our Brother P-Touch Label maker in our home.  We are pretty excited to use the P-Touch around the house because we have a ton of craft items as well as a lot of items in the garage that need to be labeled.

Girls Night Out & Life As We Know It

Last Thursday was Girls Night Out for me and my best friend Stacy. It’s been a LOOOOOOONG time since we’ve had one. We got the chance to see a pre-screening of Life As We Know It, the new romantic comedy/chick flick starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. What a CUTE movie! It was funny, lots more to see than the commercial clips too. Josh is adorable most of the time, I much prefer the scruffy uncombed hair look and Katherine Heigl was actually mostly likable (she’s not my favorite actress).

The premise of the movie is their best friends die and they are appointed guardianship together. They have a rocky history but attempt to raise this baby; who was adorable by the way. They go through trials, tribulations, fights, poop scenes, baby firsts and more. But sitting next to me was my best friend of 24 years and I couldn’t help crying at the thought of losing her. Katherine Heigl’s character has a mini breakdown about her dead friend and I cried along. This film is definitely not a full on bring your Kleenex flick but it’s touching, hysterically funny and a bit thought-provoking.  I need to set up my will.

Check it out for yourself, Life As We Know It comes out in theaters October 8th.

Mom’s Night Out with Aquafina FlavorSplash

Mom’s Night Out was a blast! Last Thursday night I along with some other “influential mom” were invited to the Mom Central Aquafina Flavorsplash Mom’s Night Out Event at Red Maple Lounge in Baltimore, MD. We got prettied up, I even wore lipstick, and headed out for an adventure.

We were greeted at the door by the lovely Mom Central representatives Megan and Allison and were told to prepare for a fun night. A quick stop at the bar and my driving buddy Cara and I took our seats alongside some crazy but fun women. We talked about the bartender, vacuums, twitter, the pretty centerpieces and got to play an out of control trivia game. I’m pleased to say my team won $25 GC to Fandago, WOOHOO. Did I mention there was an open bar? I was the driver so I got to sit back and watch the foolishness ensue.

Here is a Whrrl Story that @mammamania put together of the great night (sorry, I forgot my camera).

Red Maple was a great place; tasty food, yummy drinks and great music even if they wouldn’t play Def Leppard or Kayne. We left with a tote full of Aquafina Flavorsplash Water (my fave is raspberry) and super yum lip balms, I love me some lip balm!

Our night at Disney On Ice Celebrations

This past weekend we attended Disney On Ice Celebrations thanks to Mom Central and Feld Entertainment.

Photobucket

About the Show: It’s one colossal party on ice, with all your favorite Disney friends! Enjoy a winter wonderland with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, a Halloween haunt with the Disney Villains, a Very Merry Unbirthday Party, a Royal Ball with the Disney Princesses and more in a magical medley of holidays, celebrations and festivals from around the globe.
This was Shaun’s and Shae’s first Disney On Ice experience but I knew they would love the theatrics, music, characters and magic. Shae wore her Halloween costume, Minnie Mouse and was so excited to see that she was wearing the same dress as Minnie Mouse when she came onto the ice. The music and choreography was fantastic, I found myself singing along during the entire show. One character we were super excited to see was Jack Skelington from Nightmare Before Christmas, this is one of our favorite movies. He was slick and spooky and his routine seemed a bit trickier than other characters. Personally the Villains scene was very cool as they don’t usually get the attention that the princesses get.

My one little complaint about the show is when Toy Story was being featured Mr. Potato Head was nowhere to be found. I was shocked, I mean the troll doll had an appearance but no Mr. Potato Head. I was a bit sad.

If you have the chance to go to Disney on Ice, GO. It’s an experience you and the kids won’t soon forget. There are still plenty of shows going on around the US and even around the globe. Visit Disney On Ice for a complete list of showtimes and ticket availability. Check out the below discount details from Mom Central.

Use coupon code MOM in the “MC promotion” box to purchase four tickets for $44 Monday-Friday, and $4 off tickets for all weekend performances.
