Boxtrolls on Netflix a Laika movie

As a huge fan of Laika productions, I thoroughly enjoyed going to see it with my sister in theaters. It’s an interesting and unusual story about a little boy, called Eggs, who is kidnapped by trolls that live under a city. As he grows up, he realizes the danger that the sweet and harmless Boxtrolls are in. Believed to be evil, thieving monsters, the town hires Lord Snatcher to capture every Boxtroll in the town. Will Eggs be able to save his family before it’s too late? What wild secrets will he discover on his journey? How adorable can the Boxtrolls get? Find out answers to these questions and more with The Boxtrolls!

ParaNorman, another Laika production, is one of my all time favorite movies but sadly it had been taken off of Netflix. However, there are plenty of other great family friendly movies you can watch this month on Netflix this month.

MythBusters on Netflix

When I had my appendix taken out a few years back, I remember waking up from my surgery late at night and and watching MythBusters with my mom. We ate cold french fries and watched the crew destroy something, I’m sure. I don’t remember what they were doing, I don’t really remember anything about that night but I remember enjoying myself. It’s always an entertaining show and can hold my attention for hours.

I’ve always loved watching MythBusters. They are constantly doing such crazy and interesting experiments. One of my favorite episodes is when they fire frozen chickens into a plane windshield to check a myth that birds can break through them when planes are in flight.

I also like when they prove just how difficult it is to take candy from a baby, when they disprove the myth of the man dying from standing in his washing machine and the time when they try to float a man using only balloons. I’m happy to now be able to watch MythBusters on Netflix. It’s a great show to just have on all day and marathon through. I may have to get my brother to watch it, I really think he would enjoy all of the incredible experiments. Netflix Stream Team

Fabulous Ice Age #NetFlixKids

2014 disclosure

The Pairs Ice Dancing Competition is my favorite event in the Olympics. I find the chemistry between the couples beautiful and I am always blown away by the amazing jumps and lifts that they are able to perform all while sliding around on thin blades across ice. The way that the two can travel side by side at such a great speed and then the man lifts her and continues with the woman hoisted over his head all while keeping his balance is astounding. The trust that the woman must have in her partner to allow herself to be tossed into the air and spun around never fails to amaze me. They both posses such power and grace and they move so perfectly together; it’s breath-taking.

The Fabulous Ice Age took me back to the very first ice shows in 1930s night clubs and the ice dancer turned movie star Sonja Henie, up to the modern day Disney On Ice performances.

Fabulous Ice Age #netflixkidsThere was so much wonderful old footage of people with so much joy for what they were doing; I was thrilled. All of those people who spent their lives watching these wonderful shows and collecting props and costumes and memorabilia have such a passion for the sport. I don’t blame them. I love seeing the ice shows that Disney puts on. As soon as they began to talk about the start of the Disney shows, I began to remember all of the wonderful times that I’ve had with my family at those performances. They’re so much fun; getting to see my favorite characters and hear the songs from my favorite movies but all performed on ice. It was sad to hear that the old shows had to end for Disney to begin but a whole new era of Americans got to enjoy ice skating the way people did in the 1930s.
