How did you Ring in the New Year?

Happy New Year to all of our Friends, Family, Readers, Sweepers and Bloggin’ Buddies.  Last night was spent as a family in the safety and comfort of our own home.  Our celebration actually started earlier in the day at my best friend’s house with a bottle of wine, exchange of Christmas gifts and homemade soup.

We headed home in time to enjoy or yearly tradition of fondue for the the New Year.  We enjoyed a new recipe with grilled steak, crusty bread, apples and veggies.  Shaun was a huge help shredding cheese and setting the table.  After cheese we started a game of Monopoly, the traditional one not the kids version.  After a couple hours of monopoly we went in for chocolate fondue with marshmallows, graham crackers, brownie bites, cookies and fresh strawberries and of course a little bubbly.  Shaun was a HUGE help again, he trimmed all the stems from the strawberries will I melted down the chocolates and cream.

Monopoly continued past the stroke of midnight with Rob and Shaun duking it out but Shaun was victorious. Morning came fast and today will be another spent with family and friends.  Hope you all had a memorable and safe evening and we wish you a grand year of happiness, achievements and met goals!

New Years Eve Date Night

This may be our first New Years Eve ever without the kids. My best friend has graciously offered to take all 3 kids along with her 2 and niece in order for Rob and I to have some time to ourselves. Each year we usually celebrate as a family with fondue and some champagne for Rob and I.  This year it’s going to be just us adults.

We aren’t the party goers and drinkers that we used to be.  We aren’t prepared to stand among thousands of other people in the cold to watch a ball drop.  We won’t don formal attire to champagne toast the stroke of midnight with a bunch of strangers at a club.  We will get a bite to eat, a couple drinks, laugh and talk and head home to just spend time together.  It’s been a rough year and we want to start the new one off on the right foot, start the year with good times, good memories and each other.

The kids will experience a livelier event with sparkly party hats, noise makers, confetti and sparkling cider in plastic flutes.  They might even make it to midnight!

What are your Dreams for the New Year

New Years is right around the corner. I never gave it too much thought about making resolutions and establishing goals and dreams with the new start. I just wanted always wanted someone to kiss, that was my silly superstition to ensure I had love that year. This year is different, I threw away that silly superstition and have taken hold of my own destiny. I have established a list of things I want to change within me and my life.

Live Better: this doesn’t necessarily mean exercise more or go on a diet but more of a general lifestyle change to improve me as a whole.
Love Better: my family is most important to me and sometimes they don’t know that because I don’t show it. I have to open my heart as well as my ears and arms. I have to become the person I always wanted to be and not the born out of circumstance. Experiences happened to me they shouldn’t mold me into the person I should be.
Do Better: take pride in what I do and have to offer. I may not be perfect in my actions but my attempts have to be sincere and 100% even if they aren’t successful. I will do the best I can in everything I do.
Feel Better: I’ve had experiences in life that have affected me in a negative way. I can’t use them as excuses anymore to stop me from happiness and growth. It’s time to wipe away all the darkness, anger, regret and pity and look at things with a new goal in mind.
